How To Build Voltron - Third Person
[This memory begins with five robot lions - red, blue, black, green, and yellow - flying through the sky. After a few moments, one can hear the voices of several of the pilots]
"Clearly this isn't working. Let's set down for a little bit."
"Maybe we should be building Voltron from the ground up."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean let's try literally building Voltron. Like stacking on top of each other."
"Like a cheerleader pyramid?"
"You got a better idea?"
"It's worth a try."
[How could such a simple idea go wrong? What the person would now see is the "aftermath" of the lion pyramid idea]
"Hunk, what are you doing?"
"What do you mean?"
"You're supposed to be the leg. Over there."
"What? No, no no no. I'm pretty sure when we did it last time I was the head."
"You yelled "I'm a leg"!"
"Yeah, I was yelling a lot of things."
"Shiro's the head!"
"All the time?"
"Let's just try it my way for now."
"Okay, but next time I call head."
[Now that they got that sorted out, it seems they know what they are doing, the larger blue and yellow lions on the bottom with the red and green lions standing on top of them respectively and the black lion lowers carefully down onto the backs of the red and green lions to form this]
"Okay, arms and legs. I'll form the head. Feel the bonds with your lions. Now channel your energy into forming Voltron. Focus... focus..."
[And rather anticlimactically, the wind blows and a cloud of dust passes in front of them]
Blackest Night – Third Person
[The room that one can see is dark save for a weird purple hue that hangs over everything from the purple lights. It looks like a medical facility save for the rather large, purple glowing saw blade suspended from the ceiling. There is a person strapped down to the table with glowing purple restraints. It's rather obvious that the person is Shiro, but he doesn't have that white shock of hair yet and the scar that's on his face looks like it still fresh.
Also in the room is a ominous looking figure
What more do you want?! I'm already fighting in arena! What mor-
[He was cut off by the table seemingly becoming electrified and Shiro crying out in pain. The table turns off, leaving him gasping for air]
It's time that we made some improvements.
Improvements? What do you mean improv-
[Again the table electrifies again, cutting Shiro off. A Galra in some sort of mask approaches as it turns off, injecting him with something despite Shiro's protests. It's at this point that things begin to get fuzzy, gradually getting harder and harder to distinguish before it goes black]

Tonight she found herself in a room cast in purple. Sometimes she would find whoever it was whose memory she was in right away - other times, she hadn't. This seemed to be one of those times. It wasn't until she turned and found a hooded figure - and someone strapped to a table beyond it - that she realized whose this was.
Her heart sank.
Because her eyes met Shiro's, even if the Shiro she was looking at was a figment of a memory, being such, he was only there to show her how this would play out. And the Shiro she saw looked different. If not for the familiar voice, she might have mistaken him for an entirely different person without that lock of white hair - but then her gaze trailed down and she saw the gaping wound across the bridge of his nose - the one that she knew as a scar. ]
Shi—
[ his name passed from her lips, but in the end it's drowned out by the memory Shiro's painful cries as he was electrocuted. Hana took a step back, and her hands clapped over her mouth as she gasped. No, Shiro, oh no—
That was when she realized the biggest difference between the Shiro she was seeing and the Shiro she knew.
He still had his arm.
It's time that we made some improvements. ]
No! Shiro—!
[ One hand reached out and she forced herself to move, feet taking her forward even knowing full well that this was a memory, that there was nothing she could do. This already happened. Still, forward she went until her surroundings began to blur and fade into darkness, leaving her standing with an outstretched arm - and Shiro.
Her Shiro. The one she knew.
Wide eyes met his, and began to well with tears. ]

He missed the first one, but when she shouted a second time, he heard it and his gaze moved from his arm to Hana. She... she had seen it. There was no denying she had seen what he had been through. She had moved as though to try and stop it.
He wasn't sure what hurt more, seeing it or knowing she had seen it. It was one thing to say the words, but someone seeing exactly what happened was completely different. And this was mundane compared to some of his half formed memories.
He looked down again]
That... that's what I went through. Only one in more times than I can remember.
[Which was part of it as well. He couldn't remember a lot of what they had done to him]
no subject
She walked to him slowly, arms dropping to her sides. She wanted nothing more than to give him a hug, but the way he was looking down, she didn't want to scare him by invading his space more than she already had just being in this memory. So instead she stopped just in front of him, the both of them surrounded by darkness, and tentatively rest her hand on his arm - his prosthetic arm. ]
I'm sorry, Shiro. That they did this to you.
[ So many of her friends here, she had learned, had gone through so much... and experience so much pain... ]
Do you want to talk about it?
[ Asking if he was okay was pointless. Of course he wouldn't be okay. But if he wanted to talk about it to her... she would listen. ]
no subject
It was the hand he had been dealt though and while the consequences had lead to Voltron and everything they were doing to stop Zarkon, it was impossible to feel like life cared about him watching it again]
It's not your fault... But thank you.
[Did he want to talk about it? Yes and no at the same time. He wanted to stop being a leader for once and have someone hear him as someone who was having trouble. Not that he doubted the others - especially Keith and Allura - would drop everything and listen, but it was hard to actually call attention to himself in that way. He hadn't even told them real reason he'd eject Sendak off the Castle of Lions. But at the same time...]
I don't even know where I would start.
no subject
She could sense, at least, that he was a little conflicted about whether or not he wanted to talk about what she'd seen. Genji could be that way sometimes whenever she asked about his past, although she was sure that it was more for want of keeping his past life separate from his current, more peaceful state of being in the older man's case. For Shiro... ]
It doesn't have to make sense or anything. Just tell me what you're thinking.
[ Another beat before she added, ] If you want to. I mean, I'll listen to whatever you want to say.
no subject
He hadn't even really told the other paladins what he had been through. For some reason though, it was different with Hana. Like how he could use video games with her as an escape and not have to be serious, he didn't have to keep things hidden from her. It wouldn't change how someone treated him on a mission, how they saw him as a leader. The words practically wanted to come leaping out, but when he opened his mouth]
I don't think I can.
no subject
She watched him carefully, waiting for his response, wondering what he would say. She blinked a few times when he said that he didn't think he could. Most people she'd encountered like this in her dreams - either talked about it or didn't want to. That Shiro said he couldn't... It made her heart ache for him. He must have been so deeply hurt by all of this. Which— after seeing what she had, made complete sense and she would never fault him for it.
This time, she really couldn't help it. She raised her arms and wrapped them around Shiro, pulling him into a hug. Against his shoulder, she said, ]
That's okay. You don't have to talk about it if you can't or don't want to.
no subject
Words failed him when he wanted to talk about what had happened. There was too much that there didn't seem to be a way for the words to get out without getting tangled. There was just... everything. How could he possibly explain a year? He couldn't even tell the others back home.
But then she was hugging him. She had just watched something he was most ashamed of and she was still there and hugging him. He frowned even though she wasn't able to see and pressed his head against hers]
Thank you. I just don't know how to.
no subject
It's fine if you don't know how to. No one's making you talk about it, 'kay? I'm sorry this happened to you, Shiro.
no subject
Thank you.

Closed Action to Keith
So it was no wonder that when Shiro got up this one morning, his drive to do anything was pretty much gone. He’d at least made it downstairs, but that was only as far as the couch, not even going to get his coffee, a morning ritual that Black had picked up on quickly, given that the lion stayed downstairs at night to keep watch over the two entrances to the house. Every morning, Shiro came down stairs and went to make coffee. This morning though, he was wearing a sweatshirt, hiding his arm, and just sat there on the couch. Even when Black came over to nudge him, Shiro didn’t even really react, only absently putting his hand on Black’s head.
Well, this wasn’t good. Not at all. Something was wrong with his paladin and Black needed Keith to help. Knowing that Shiro locked the upstairs balcony at night and only unlocked it in the morning, that wasn’t going to work for how to get in. Welp, Black would have to try the stairs. There was no other option.
So that’s what he did. The first turn on the stairs was fine. The banister on the straight away? That was the problem, the wings being too awkward for the banister. Pretty much stuck on the stairs now, Black reached out to Red telling her to go get Keith. But when Black tried to get untangled from the stairs, the banister broke. Well, Black was able to get down but the banister is pretty badly broken. Sorry about that…]
no subject
He was up in an instant, pulling open his door and following his Lion towards the living area when he froze at the top of the now banister-less stairs.]
What the heck is going on in here?
[Red wasn't even bothered by the lack of banister. She just started heading down.]
no subject
But now that he had Keith's attention - and Red was coming down the stairs - Black attempted to signal Keith what the issue was, looking at Keith then over at Shiro, still sitting on the couch surprisingly not as alarmed as he should have been by the fact that Black had just broken the banister. Black looked between the two a few times before walking over to Shiro. When Black was close enough, Shiro reached out to put his hand on the lion]
You okay, buddy?
no subject
Looks like he got caught on the stairs while trying to come up. Did you leave the balcony locked?
[Keith studied Shiro as he spoke, trying to figure out what was going on. Was this the memories thing getting to him, maybe? He knew there were gaps in Shiro's memory, but the Black Paladin hadn't exactly shared everything he actually did remember with Keith, either.]
no subject
I always lock it at night.
[It made perfect sense to him. There were people with abilities here. Didn't want to make it too easy for someone to sneak in at night. Besides, Black seemed content to stay downstairs at night. Otherwise Shiro would be tempted to sleep down there to make sure everything was as it should be. Black had stopped that the first night he tried that. Nothing like a robot the size of a liger trying to push one off the couch and essentially telling one go to bed.
Shiro ran his hand absently over the top of Black's head, the lion making a rumbling sort of purr as though trying to reassure Shiro of something]
no subject
You usually unlock it in the mornings, though.
[He was testing Shiro a little, trying to get a feel for what was going on so he could better approach this. He knew Shiro wasn't himself, but he was trying to figure out if it was the memories or something else.]
no subject
I don't think I did this morning.
[Did he? No, he didn't. He'd basically managed to come down stairs and then didn't do anything else. He hadn't even had his coffee and he didn't seem to be too concerned about it]
no subject
Hey... you okay?
[Have a worried look.]
no subject
No, I don't think so. Don't really feel like doing anything.
[He just had no motivation. He'd felt like this a few times before when he'd been trapped. He'd gotten close when his nightmares were bad, but they had never been something he couldn't fight through. Now... it just felt like too much]
no subject
Nothing at all?
[He reached over and put his hand on Shiro's shoulder.]
Talk to me.

Closed Action to Genji
So he had decided to call a friend and invite him over. Genji. They'd both been through a lot and Genji had good incites when he needed them. He wasn't sure if he was necessarily looking for them right now. Whether he'd get them or not in the course of their conversation was another question.
Besides, Genji had yet to meet Black and Shiro thought the two would get along. So he was preparing something to drink while Black sat on the first landing of the stairs. The lion had learned its lesson about trying to go up the stairs... even if Shiro still needed to fix the banister]
no subject
He hasn't really had a chance to see Shiro much since their mission together either, and he was still curious about these "lions" of theirs. Were they like Omnics, he wondered? He got the sense they were sentient beings and not just machines... very intriguing. His master would love to meet them.
Once he arrives on the doorstep, he knocks on the door. ] It's Genji!
no subject
They had been so preoccupied during the mission he had known Genji was on it, but they hadn't had the chance to sit down and really talk. As such, he hadn't met the lions and the lions hadn't met him. So this would be interesting.
At the knock at the door, Black started down from the landing as Shiro headed towards the door. The lion was keeping a close watch on him at the moment. Shiro opened the door]
Hey, it's good to see you again. Come on in.
[He stepped aside so Genji could come in. When he did, he'd see Black looking down the hall towards the front door, watching]
I guess we should do proper introductions now. Genji, that's the Black Lion of Voltron. Black, this is Genji.
