I didn't crash into that many things!

[Okay, Keith... no. Really. You did.]

Really? You didn't?

[Oh yeah... you did. But he's doing better now]

[Keith growled a little, but he wasn't angry. He was honestly glad to see Shiro doing better, and would gladly make himself the target of a little ribbing if it got Shiro to make jokes and smile again.]

Maybe a little...

[Keith looked over just long enough to smirk a bit and get back to the race. Because, he had readjusted the settings on his car, and it was definitely doing better this time around, giving Shiro a real run for his money and making it a very close race.]

[Shiro could help a chuckle, but now that it was getting serious, he was going to lay off teasing Keith for a bit so that he could focus on the race. The cars were pretty well neck and neck. Even so, Keith had a little more speed than Shiro so when there was a straight away, he had an advantage]

[Luckily for Keith, the finish was on a straight section on track, so he gunned it as he came around the last turn, getting some distance between them before crossing the line first.]

Yes!

[He pumped his fist, grinning like the time he'd chased down Rolo's ship to rescue Blue.]

[Shiro smiled at that]

Good job Keith. Guess we need to do one more? Find out who wins?

Well, yeah. We gotta break the tie. It's the best two out of three for a reason.

[He grinned a little.]

Random track this time?

Random track this time. Maybe we should pick the same car this time? See who can handle it better?

[Keith considered it for a moment and then smirked.]

Alright, yeah. You're on.

[Random course select gave them another difficult course with a lot of turns. And with car selection, Shiro picked a good, run of the mill car. Not too fast, not weighing too much, decent agility. And no mods]

Alright, let's do it.

[Keith grinned a bit.

He honestly did wonder sometimes if he would have surpassed Shiro's pilot stats at graduation as everyone said he was on course to do. Too bad he'd never find out...]

[Yeah, it really was a shame that Keith wouldn’t get the chance to try and beat Shiro’s scores. Shiro had no reason to want to hold onto them other than status symbol from years ago. Besides, he did want to see Keith would be able to beat him at some point.

Shiro pressed the button to start the race, watching as it did the obligatory course overview for them before they started]

[Keith waited, somewhat impatiently, but he let it go through the overview without trying to hit any skip buttons. Then, it zoomed in on the starting line, showing the two cars, and began the countdown. Keith tapped his finger lightly against the accelerator button as it counted...

3... 2... 1...

GO!

He hit the button hard, the car skidding a bit off the line, but getting a grip quickly before taking off down the track.]

[Impatient, impatient, impatient... but then again, Shiro wasn't much better. He didn't try to rush the cut screen or the countdown, but as soon as the screen announced "GO!", he hit the button hard too. He was maybe a second to early and like Keith's, his car took a moment to get traction.

This was going to be an interesting race]

[Keith grinned at Shiro doing the same mistake, and leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. He focused on the screen, hearing Red rumble softly behind him as she encouraged him to go faster and win. He chuckled a little, her tone amused him.

Lap 1 finished, and Keith was ahead!]

[Yeah, yeah. Shiro made the same mistake, but they were even in that regard. To be fair, Shiro wasn't behind by much, but he was behind enough that this was difficult. Black was behind him, also rumbling in encouragement. Who would that robot lions would be cheerleaders for video games]

[Keith was actually glad that Shiro was close in the race. It made it more interesting and more of a challenge for him to stay in the lead. He wasn't entirely worried as they went into the second lap if Shiro passed him, though. He just needed to stay close enough if that happened that he could pass him again in the third lap to be the first across the finish.]

[Yes, the close race made this that much more amusing. As they went through their second lap, Shiro did indeed gain on Keith. They were now neck and neck with Shiro's car edging out Keith's]

[Keith grit his teeth, tensing up just a little at seeing Shiro's car next to his and gaining. It was hard to suppress his more competitive nature and need to be in front through the whole race. However, he knew he didn't have to be... not yet. As they moved into the third and final lap, Keith didn't push too hard. He worked on keeping control of the vehicle, and staying close. It wasn't until they were coming into the last several curves that he really began to press Shiro for the lead, his driving getting more aggressive.]

[Shiro noticed that Keith was driving more aggressively now, trying to get his vehicle back in front of Shiro's. If Keith were worried about Shiro's mental state, the next comment might make him feel a bit better...]

Oh, so you're trying to get back in front of me, huh?

[He's teasing since, yes, that is the point of this, but Shiro's not going to make it easy for Keith to get his car in front again]

[Keith growled a little as Shiro made it hard, but it was good. He didn't mind it so much since it meant Shiro was starting to feel more like himself. But, there... he spotted it just in time... an opening he could squeeze through as Shiro moved to one side, and Keith managed to dodge his car to the other side, sliding past him only mere 'yards' from the finish.]

YES!

[He pumped his fist as Red let out a little roar.]

Take that!

[He grinned, laughing.]

[Shiro laughed at that as Keith crossed the finished line just barely in front of him]

Good game.

[Keith smiled, glad to see Shiro laughing.]

Yeah. It was.

[He didn't bother asking if he felt better because he didn't want to remind him that he hadn't been in the first place. He stretched.]

You hungry at all? We could go out and grab a bite to eat. [Or order take-out or delivery or something... but Keith kind of wanted to see if Shiro was willing to go out of the house. It was something of a test. And, picking up food instead of making it would be easier after a day like today.]

[Yes this is a test and Shiro did hesitate a moment as that thought of "why don't you just sit there everything will be fine that way" crossed his mind. After a moment though he took a breath]

Yeah, let's go out. I need to get changed first.

[Keith nodded, giving Shiro a small smile. He caught the hesitation, but was glad he was going to push himself a little. It was a good sign.]

Alright. I'll put the game away.

[He got up and went to do that. Red paced a little. Were they going out? She wanted to come, too!]
