He had made statues of their family with Jon. Alone, he goes wild. Clark makes a bridge over the river, some more statues, and is working on a whole scale model of Riverview. Somewhere in the last forty five minutes he heard a heartbeat nearby and checked who it was. Clark had been so absorbed in what he was doing he had tuned out.
He said nothing because he knows it's Jim. Or, he says nothing until he's finished. ]
I can hear you.
[ He looks in Jim's direction and smiles. As Kal he can be more open. ]
Why not have a closer look?

Ice isn't a common sight. It's been nonexistent so far, actually, and the first patches of the crystalline surfaces covering some of the greenery catch his attention easily. He follows the trail, until there's little of the ground that's not covered in ice, eyes wide as they move up and land on the bridge that's clearly been built over the river.
He snaps out of it suddenly, surprised by the voice but not especially scared or nervous. He smiles instead, gesturing towards the bridge and the small model of the colony on the other side of the river. ]
You built this. [ Excellent observational skills, Jim. ] It's amazing.
no subject
Guilty as charged.
[ He stands aside if Jim wants a closer look at the colony. It's very detailed though crooked in some areas. Clark's not using to carving with his heat vision. ]
no subject
Is it safe for me to cross? [ Who is he kidding, like that'd ever stop him. ]
no subject
It should be. [ He adds: ] If it isn't, I'll catch you.

He's correcting Jon's homework when someone comes in. Clark nods politely at the newcomer, thinking that they're a roommate or looking for someone on this floor.
Clark himself might look odd sandwiched between a basket full of laundry and a pile of books suitable for Jon's age. He seems unbothered by this. ]
no subject
While it was true that he hasn't spent much time in his room - coming in late, leaving early - and as such he hasn't really gotten to know his roommates, seeing Clark there makes Jason pause. For one, he's fairly certain that this isn't Clark's floor. For another, there's something about Clark that strikes him as wildly familiar.
Plus there's the fact that he's sitting on what Jason is certain is Jon's bed. He raises his eyebrow, taking in Clark, the pile of laundry, the pile of books. Huh.]
You're a lot of man for a space that small.
[Pause.]
That wasn't a come on, I swear.
no subject
I hope not. I'm not your type.
[ He's uncomfortable with Jason's scrutiny. It's someone acting like he looks familiar and Clark is sure he's never seen this man before. He remembers faces. ]
Can I help you?
no subject
Sorry, I don't mean to stare. You just - and again not a come on - but something about that jawline is eerily familiar.
[But it couldn't be, right? Jon would have said something when they were talking about knowing some people who were kind of like people from back home. Except, okay, maybe Jon hadn't met them yet. If it was them.]
Are you little Kent's tutor or something? I haven't really seen you in here before.
no subject
Jon keeps his promises and he wouldn't advertise to strangers. ]
I'm his father. Are you a roommate?

He's waiting for her on the balcony of the first floor. ]
Ready?
no subject
Of course.
no subject
How far are we going?

[ He can fly far out and slowly make their way towards the city.
Clark pulls her close to him and smiles. ]
Ready for takeoff when you are, Miss Lane.

There's always someone or something prowling near the perimeter for him to engage with so Clark drifts over the forest. It surprises him to hear electricity and a sound he recognises as Commander Ebbisaryn, practicing alone. She's clearly well-trained, comfortable with her abilities, and also very powerful. She combines it with a grace he's only seen previously in Marcel.
Clark doesn't expect the height to stop her from noticing him as he watches from above. She's a veteran soldier and used to people like them.
He's also wearing a bright red cape. ]
I didn't mean to be rude. I heard what you were doing.
[ He smiles sheepishly when he lands. ]
It's incredible.
no subject
Doesn't mean she doesn't wave, though, when the fella watching finally decides to speak. With her left hand, she plucks her shirt off her chest and sort of repeats the motion three or four more times just for the airflow.]
Keep on like that and I'll charge for the show.
[She says it with a grin, though, obviously not minding too much or being bothered at all by the intrusion. She does, however, make a beeline for a water bottle she's got tucked into her overshirt nearby and she drinks a damn liberal amount of it before upending the remainder on her head, soaking her braid down against her scalp.]
no subject
Sorry about that. I was curious.
[ Clark holds out his hand to shake hers. ]
My name is Kal.
no subject
[She's teasing, Kal. She shakes his hand anyway, her grip is firm and sure.]
Shai.
no subject
[ His grip is similarly firm. Though she's much denser and stronger than humans, Clark estimates he's stronger. ]
I'm Kryptonian. What about you?

This section of the area hasn't been picked clean by the local scavengers yet because the blocks are too heavy for them to move. He was planning to clear it today when he hears someone else moving around. ]
Hello? Who's here?
[ It's Rey. He can recognise her from her heartbeat. Clark will still call out because otherwise it's very creepy. ]
no subject
She freezes when she hears a voice, but the voice is familiar, and after a moment she slips through the brush to find him, a small smile at the corner of her mouth as she pushes the fabric covering the lower half of her mouth back down like a scarf.]
Kal. What are you doing out here? [The same as her, she suspects, but she asks anyway, dropping the large pack off her shoulders onto a clear section of the ground. She loved the abandoned city. It reminded her of the ship graveyards that covered Jakku, and while they had been treacherous they had also been familiar.]
no subject
[ He's wearing the same uniform as he did for their mission with Liam. Clark can remove the patch if anyone runs into him expecting Clark Kent. With the cape out of the way it's much easier to move around in the forest.
He greets her with a small smile as well and nods to her loot. ]
Are you headed back?
no subject
Getting there. [Her bag was half full, she could still find a few more things to fit in and bring back with her, though the urgency of getting enough to put food in her stomach was gone. She made money now, working as a survival instructor and a surveyor for the perimeter guard. It was still a novelty to not only have currency to buy things with, but to have food that tasted good and didn't have to have water added to it to hydrate it.]
Were you looking for anything specific?
no subject
I was going to pick up anything interesting I found. What about you?
