[ Of all the people to worry about when it comes to prejudice, Jim's definitely not one of them. Even as he's curious to learn more about new people from new and unknown worlds and cultures, he'd never treat them like some freak show. ]

Can't say I have, sorry. What's it like?

[ Clark smiles apologetically. ]

I'm sorry, I don't know much. I left when I was very young.

[ IT'S DEAD JIM ]

[ DAMNIT CLARK ]

Oh. That's a shame. So where did you grow up?

A strange planet called Earth. Have you heard of it?

[ Jim chuckles. ]

Oh, yeah. I grew up there too. And I'll give you that, it can be pretty strange at times.

[ Clark smiles back at him.

As they keep walking, Clark notices this area is at the edge of monster territory. ]

Are we looking for something?

Nothing specific. Just mapping out the area and seeing if I find anything interesting to bring back with me.

[ He does notice that too, though, and he slows down so he can take off his backpack and pull out both the dagger and the stun phaser, strapping them both to his hips. ]

You can go back, if you want to. This area isn't exactly fun.

[ Clark glances at both curiously. ]

I'll be all right. I come here often.

[ He's completely unarmed. ]

[ Jim eyes the guy just as curiously as he does Jim's weapons. They're not much, he knows, but they've served him pretty well. Loki's dagger, especially. He'll have to find one for himself soon so he can return it. ]

Alright, well. If you say so.

[ He figures Kal must have some trick up his sleeve or something. ]

And what do you usually do out here? You're not part of the guard, are you?

[ A few tricks. Jim's in for a treat. ]

No. I do a lot of exploring.

[ The city can get overwhelming for his senses so Clark comes out here often to relax and enjoy not having people around. ]

There's always something to salvage.

[ When he's not practicing ice breath, that is. ]

[ He hopes those tricks are at least half as cool as that ice breath of his. (Ha ha.) ]

Yeah, like me.

[ He just happens to do it for work, too. ]

Have you found anything of particular interest so far?

[ You might say one of them is pretty hot. (Ha ha.) ]

Several. What are you interested in?

[ Doesn't take heat vision for him to be pretty hot, though. ]

Technology, data... interesting artefacts. Preferably things I can bring back with me, but I'm not picky. If I can scan it and study it, then that's good enough for me.

[ Touche, Jim. ]

There's old equipment to be found in the rubble, in a site just ahead of us, actually. We can go there and see if there's anything you want to study further.

Really? Great, then. Sounds just like the kind of thing I'm looking for.

[ He'll follow Kal's lead since he's the one who knows where they're headed. ]

[ Clark turns to scan the forest with his telescopic vision. To Jim it might look weird; he's just glancing and frowning at the trees. There's monsters here and he'd prefer to take a route that avoids them. Not everything in this forest is out for their blood.

He looks back at Jim once he's done. ]

This way.

[ Although he thinks it'd be safe to ask Jim if he wants to fly there, or travel using super-speed, Clark doesn't want to overwhelm him.

Some other time, they can fly. ]

[ It does look kind of weird to Jim, but he just watches Kal quietly, not interrupting... whatever it is he's doing. He nods once he speaks up, and follows after him, not even crossing his mind that they might've had a faster means to get to where they're going.

Faster and also seriously cooler. He's probably better off not knowing it's a possibility or he'll be far too excited about it happening sometime in the future. ]

[ His excitement wouldn't have changed Clark's mind. He's not excited about his own powers the way others seem to be. To him, they've been something to adjust to whenever he found out what he could do. ]

There's some vines to cut through ahead. Do you want to or should I?

[ Anything unusual and out of the ordinary can be a source of excitement, for Jim. It wouldn't necessarily make Kal more interesting to him, but it would definitely make him more unique. ]

Teamwork? [ Jim offers with a shrug and a raised eyebrow, unsheathing the dagger strapped to his hip. ]

Teamwork it is. [ Clark gestures for Jim to go first. ] After you.

[ Jim nods, starting off ahead of Kal. He lifts up the dagger once they approach the vines, trying to pick the paths with the least obstruction, and making use of the blade to cut down any vines still blocking their way.

He keeps an eye out, though, in case there's any creatures out here, or he's going the wrong way. Kal's the one who knows where they're going after all. ]

[ Kal, behind him, uses heat vision for the vines Jim can't manage. His eyes are glowing red if Jim turns back to look at him. It's hard not to be self-conscious of his powers, especially this one. Clark rarely uses it even when he's physically threatened. He could have easily ripped the vines off the trees instead of cutting them.

It's telling how at ease he is around Jim. ]

[ It's a little surprising at first, but Jim's not scared or worried about getting hurt or anything. Kal seems to be in perfect control of this ability of his, and when it comes to some higher or thicker vines, it comes very in handy, and it helps him a lot when he starts getting too tired. He's only human after all, much unlike Kal. ]

Just try not to give me a haircut with that, okay? I like my hair the way it is. [ It's a humorous quip mostly, as he glances back at Kal with a playful grin. ]

[ He's had a lifetime to practice. Again, it hits pretty hard that Jim isn't afraid or wary. That he makes a joke immediately. Clark appreciates it even more because it's rare.

He finds himself wishing humans were more like this. ]

Don't look now, I'm in the mood to give you a mohawk.

[ Jim's used to plenty of unusual things by now. Comes with the job, really, and even before he hopped on a starship, he had grown up on a version of Earth where aliens weren't a strange sight in the least. Having all kinds of shapes, sizes and colors, speaking all sorts of strange different languages, and some even having unique abilities, they have been living on his planet for at least a hundred years at his point in time. The kind of thing he grew up with, even in Riverside, Iowa. Also known as Middle Of Nowhere, to him. ]
