[ Jim's used to plenty of unusual things by now. Comes with the job, really, and even before he hopped on a starship, he had grown up on a version of Earth where aliens weren't a strange sight in the least. Having all kinds of shapes, sizes and colors, speaking all sorts of strange different languages, and some even having unique abilities, they have been living on his planet for at least a hundred years at his point in time. The kind of thing he grew up with, even in Riverside, Iowa. Also known as Middle Of Nowhere, to him. ]

Hey— [ He lifts a hand to his hair, even though he knows Kal is just teasing. ] Don't you even dare, you ass. I will get you back for it if you do that.

[ Jim is so easy to trust. Clark sees very clearly why he's a captain. He's a good one. ]

If you can catch me.

[ Jim has to laugh at that. Cheeky bastard. ]

You should know, I don't respond too well to challenges.

If you manage to, I'll have to get you a prize.

[ He can go above Mach 10, Jim. ]

If I had my ship here, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

[ Because they'd be racing each other. And no, it's not cheating if he uses his ship. ]

I'm very sure that's cheating.

[ Shut up Kal. ]

That's not going to win you anything. [ He smiles at Jim as they finally reach the site. Clark looks around. ] We're clear. If anything comes towards us, I'll hear it.

[ He huffs amusedly at that, then sheathes his dagger as he moves past the last few vines. ]

Glad to know you've got my back. [ The sentiment is mutual, though Jim's got a feeling Kal doesn't need it. ]

[ It's mutual, and it would make Clark literally float if they didn't have work to do.

He looks around, scanning for something interesting. ]

Where would you like to start?

[ He shrugs. ] You know the place better than I do. Any piece of equipment that stood out to you the last time you were here?

There was. I thought it was some kind of scanner, but I couldn't stop to take a closer look then.

This way.

[ Jim nods and follows after Kal in silence, taking in every detail he can as they approach the rubble. He tries not to get distracted by anything that catches his interest, though he makes a mental note to check it out later.

A scanner sounds far more interesting, anyway. Especially if it still has any information on it. ]
