[ lois considers herself pretty tough. she's been to the desert, she's worn combat boots and a flak vest for days without taking either off even to sleep. she's seen spiders and stepped on them or just avoided them — but even she has to admit that this particular creature leaves her a little queasy in the stomach. ]

That's bigger than I was expecting.

No kidding.

[ Clark likes all creatures great and small. This one makes him question that a little.

He sees a guard patrol up ahead going to intercept the creature and brings Lois higher up so they can watch safely. ]

[ lois doesn't need to question it; she already knows she doesn't like this one. maybe that's prejudiced, but there it is. she watched the guard patrol take charge of the situation, taking note of their apparent strategy. ]

Do you want to be down there, helping them?

[ Clark shakes his head. ]

They're handling it.

[ He learns by watching them. ]

It certainly looks like they know what they're doing.

[ that's both comforting and in a way worrisome. if this city has such a well-trained group, who knows what they could achieve. ]

[ Clark sees a well-trained group he can learn from. He brings Lois up above them where they can clearly see everyone's tactics. ]

It shouldn't take them long. Are you filming?

[ This is one scenario where he might ask the Guard if they want to be filmed. ]

[ she doesn't know the laws of this place regarding video material off by heart yet. ]

[ but a few minutes later: ] Actually, yes. Could you just - [ she points to their right before returning her arm to where it had been, namely around his neck. ]

It really doesn't get heavy for you, carrying me around, does it? [ it's more of an observation than a question. ]

[ He assumes she's pointing at something and turns to look. Clark smiles the moment he realises it was a trap. ]

No. I'm just worried we might lose your shoes.
