All the stories are true. No one mentioned the one about a portal to a place whee worlds collided and he had to get a job. But here he was wandering an unfamiliar street with his parabatai and still staring at the sky. It was beautiful. He just couldn't feel the beauty or the awe or much of anything. He could feel Alec. That was all he needed at the moment.

"All the stories are true. We've seen a lot of things being part of the Shadow World, but I never imagined anything like this."

Finding himself in an alternate world wasn't as strange as it should be. As far as Alec knew, this was the third time. There might have been a few more between the time he was in New York and then woke up in Wayward Pines, but he knew of three. This one wasn't home, but it had the potential to be. If he could get used to small town life as a Mundane, he could make something work.

At least this time Magnus, his siblings, and his parabatai are with him. He hadn't known what that strange ache had been until he'd seen Jace again. Then everything shifted into place and Alec realized what he'd been missing. He still felt strange pangs, but Alec assumed that was because they'd been separated for so long.

"It's like something out of the books we read as kids." Glancing over at Jace, he smiled despite the worry that had been nagging him since they'd all met at the hospital. Bumping his shoulder against Jace's, Alec nodded toward the shop. "Coffee then we compare the weird we've been through lately?"
