[ Slip on your swimsuit, grab your towel, put on a pair of sunglasses, and come on over— it's time for a pool party! Maybe you were invited by Jim, Victor or Lucy— they do have a bunch of friends, after all. Well, mostly Jim. What's that? You don't know any of them? Well, that's no problem! They've made sure to tell their friends they can invite whoever they want. Friends of friends, distant acquaintances, coworkers, what have you. All are welcome! There's a sweet as hell pool in their backyard now, a new addition to the house, so it's kind of like a debut. There's music playing, a wide range of styles that go from dance music to classical rock, and there are chairs, a covered seating area, and a few extra towels near the pathway to the pool just in case you forgot to bring your own. There are a bunch of floats both in the water and along the edge of the pool for everyone to help themselves to as they wish, and in addition to that there are a number of fun pool party games you can take up— water balloon fighting, balls available for some playful water polo, and whatever other game you can come up with. Feeling hungry or thirsty? Not a problem! There are several drinks and cocktails (anything alcoholic safely kept away from kids), and a bunch of snacks and sweets. To add to that, there's a nice barbecue set up near the grassy patch next to the pool, and a supply of ribs, burgers, sausages and corn is made available throughout the party. (Oh, and there's also a tiny porg and a water-loving dog.) So what are you waiting for? Come on in and have a blast! ]

[ Being one of the hosts, Jim can be found just about anywhere throughout the party. He's dressed to the occasion, wearing a pair of short and tight dark blue swimming trunks, and a white sleeveless shirt whenever he's not in the pool or still wet after a dip. He'll try to greet and say hi to everyone at the party, and he'll also be seen refilling plates with snacks, replacing empty bottles and jars of drinks with fresh new ones, and every so often even manning the barbecue station. Yes that's right, he can do barbecue without burning the meat to a charred piece of charcoal now.

He'll also be taking dips into the pool often, either with Lucy or Victor, or just floating around on his own. Seeing a familiar face, he'll approach with a coy little smile. Happen to be sitting by the edge, waffling on whether to take a dip or not? Well, that's too bad because he's splashing some water on you.

Or you can turn the tables around and push him into the water if he happens to be standing by the edge. No guarantees he won't drag you in with him, though! ]

[South only knows Victor, kinda, but a party is a party and keeping around people is keeping her brain from dwelling on unpleasant past shit she hasn't dealt with and doesn't plan to ever deal with. She's asked around about their hosts, finding which one was this "James" she's heard about and wonders over to meet him. Might as well since she's heard of him, put a face to the name and all.

She spots him near the pool, considers it, wonders if it's a bad impression, then decides fuck it and casually passes by him to hipcheck him in an attempt to knock him into the pool]

[ It just so happens that he notices that look on her face, and he manages to take half a step to the side, which— well, it's not enough to avoid the contact entirely, but it prevents him from falling into the pool, as he just wobbles briefly on his feet. ]

Do that again and you're going in with me. [ Pointing a finger at her accusingly. ] South, right?

I'm not a witch so I'm not afraid of water [She says, like she doesn't mind going in the water with how great her winged liner turned out- please no water, this took forever to achieve. Okay. Thanks. And, yes, she's a little sad he didn't end up in the water, jee]

Victor Frankenstein | OTA

[This was clearly more James and Lucy's idea than his. Not that he hasn't become a lot more social, but he just has no experience in throwing parties. He's there to greet whoever shows up in a simple shirt and swimming trunks. Victor points them to the drinks-- both alcoholic and nonalcoholic varieties before letting them go.

He switches off barbecue duty with James so they both can cool off in the pool or mingle with their guests. He even bought an apron that they can switch off wearing, declaring them Master of the Grill.

He also bought a few water guns that he will make sure to point out to people he knows will take full advantage of them. And when not doing all that, he's swimming or playing with Lucy in the water]

[ It's Victor's turn at the barbecue, and Jim's sitting somewhere nearby, kicking back on a comfortable lawn chair with a colorful cocktail in his hand, looking stylish as hell in his short swimming trunks, a shirt and sunglasses. He tilts his head and lowers the glasses along the bridge of his nose, blatantly enjoying the view. ]

I think... a little more to the left? [ Maybe he's talking about those steaks, maybe he isn't. ]

[jolting]

[He is, in fact, turning over the steaks so they'll be evenly cooked. He hears James's words and smiles, carefully shifting them to the left-- though he's pretty sure that's not what the captain is talking about. Once he has everything arranged, he turns to look over at James. He cracks a grin]

You look like you could be on those "lifestyles of the rich and famous" shows.

[ With Victor partly with his back turned to Jim, it's definitely not the steaks he's checking out. His gaze drops to Victor's backside with a growing smirk, while he happily sips on his fruity drink. ]

Well, I wouldn't know about rich, but... we're both pretty famous, in our respective worlds. [ And plenty other worlds, too. One might say they're also famous enough, around here. ]

Alex Reagan | OTA

[Unfortunately, or fortunately, I guess, considering what others think of him, Alex hadn't managed to convince Richard to come to the picnic. So, she was here solo, even if she had stopped and bought some wine and some watermelon and some what was becoming Alex's signature cookies because Alex's mother was quite the firm believer in never showing up to someone's house without bringing something along. Especially for a party. But when she arrives, she accepts a drink with a grin.

She's wearing a sundress over a red and white vintage style bathing suit, and can be found eagerly eating, swimming in the pool or playing with the dog. You can definitely bet she's playing with the dog. Alex loves dogs. But she's definitely social, and talking anyone who happens to be near her. She's Alex after all.]

[jolting]

[Victor is making the rounds saying hi to everyone when he comes across Alex playing with the dog. He watches them for a while, but then John notices one of his owners and goes over to Victor, clearly expecting him to join in the game. Victor smiles and gives the dog a rub]

Keeping each other occupied, I see. It's good seeing you, Alex.

[11calls]

[Alex doesn't bother to look abashed. She doesn't bother to look anything but amused, honestly, as she gives him a broad smile and a quick shrug before she pets the dog again.]

Well, you know me, Victor. If there's a dog, I'm probably going to pet it. And he's a good boy. What's his name?

[jolting]

John. James named him after a friend. I think there's more of a joke to this than I know. [He picks up a ball and throws it for John to chase after]

No plus one for you?

[winscenario]

[ Jim's got his hands on some drinks while Alex is going through the snacks, taking up the post as an impromptu bartender and mixing drinks behind a makeshift counter next to the snacks table. He nods as she approaches, smiling. ]

Looks like you're missing a drink. What's your poison of choice? [ Alcoholic or not— they've got both options. ]

[Giving Jim a broad smile, and she pauses as if she's studying what he's got in front of her. In the end, however, Alex just grabs the closest alcoholic drink, which is some sort of beer and then almost chirps:]

Thanks! Do you need a hand with that, Jim? I honestly don't mind.

[Alex has played bartender at various PNWS parties over the years, so she's experienced with being both heavy handed and not heavy handed as the case may be, depending on who she happens to be pouring drinks for.]

Lucy Mills: OPEN

[Lucy was excited ever since Jim started talking and working on adding the swimming pool to their back yard. When it was finally complete, it was only natural they had a party to celebrate it's completion and to deal with the warm weather. What was summer without a pool party? To not have one would be a crime against summer fun! She invited her friends and eagerly awaited for the day of the party. Nothing could ruin this for them!

Considering it was her family hosting, Lucy could be seen helping with putting sodas and waters into ice, and checking up on the chips. Plus, there was the little stand that had sun block on it--no one likes a sunburn!

She wore a two piece bathing suit. A 'tankini' as it was called--a tank top that had several pastel colors and a bikini short set in pale blue. It was cute, but didn't make her look too 'young' with an animal or phrase on it.

If she wasn't helping with hosting duties, she was in the pool, on one of the floating with a tiny porg on her knee, or jumping into the water with their family dog.

Careful! She may end up splashing someone...or tossing a water balloon at them.]

[ Jim spends a portion of his time watching Lucy during the party. Not that he has to, what with John following after her. The dog would quickly help her if she were to get into any sort of trouble, or alert him or Victor if there was anything wrong he couldn't make right on his own.

Point is, Jim is watching while she jumps into the pool a number of times and splashes innocent and unsuspecting partygoers standing nearby. And he waits until she's out of the water and all dried off to rush towards her, picking her up from the ground and carrying her while he runs (carefully, of course) towards the pool. ] Incoming!!

[Lucy wasn't paying too close attention to her surroundings, using a towel to dry her off. The towel, was bright, colorful and sported a mermaid. It made her think of home, but it wasn't too girly for her tastes. She didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. John was close by and Oona was taking refuge in the shade.

Jim's sudden surprise doesn't give Lucy enough time to drop her towel. She's instantly picked up, crying out in laughter and surprise as she's placed back into the water again with a big splash. She's wet again and no longer had a towel to dry her off, but she's not upset.]

Daddy! [Grinning, laughing, and splashing him to get back at dumping both of them into the pool.]

[Victor takes a break from his various hosting duties to attend to Lucy]

[Lucy looks up at Victor, grinning from ear to ear.]

Yeah! Is it throwing Jim into the pool?

[ jyn is fairly certain jim would pick her up and deposit her at his house were she to try to skive out of his party so here she is, complete with fairly modest swimsuit under a cover up courtesy of space goodwill.

she spends the majority of her time lounging in the sun (and then under the canopy because she is a delicate snowflower whose skin is afraid of the sun) and eating like she's never eaten before in her entire life, letting the dog eat her scraps because that is who she is as a person. she does not let the porg eat her scraps but at one point she can be found idly petting the porg.

they're okay, she guesses.

she'll be swimming with the dog, throwing a ball so he leaps after it into the pool with a huge splash, playing bocce which she is incredibly good at, playing croquet which she is incredibly bad at, and definitely chasing jim around the yard with an armful of water balloons. her aim is lethal. ]

[ Her aim is in fact too good, and since Jim isn't actually expecting to be attacked so viciously, the first water balloon hits him straight in the back of his neck. He yelps when the balloon breaks and he ends up with his hair and shirt wet, all the way down to the small of his back. ]

What— [ He turns around to find the perpetrator standing there, looking too pleased with herself, carrying a bunch of water balloons and ready to strike again. He narrows his eyes— ] You.

[ And then he's running to the nearest water balloon bucket, grabbing a handful himself so he can retaliate. ]

[ jyn's gleeful laugh is honestly a lovely sound, echoing like wind chimes across the yard. ]

You should have known better, James Kirk. [ and he really should have. weapons and jyn in the same space, no matter how ineffective they are, is a sure fire way to wind up soaked or covered in paint and glitter. she is the paintball champion for a reason. ]

You brought this on to yourself.

[this is the SECOND party jim has now managed to drag cassian to, which is quite the accomplishment! jyn picked out his swimtrunks, mostly because she came home with both hers and his from the goodwill and threw them at him. they're kind of ridiculous, but he likes them? he shows up wearing them and a gray t-shirt, bringing a small pasta salad just because it seemed like a nice thing to do. people bring food to parties? maybe? what is this suburban nonsense.]

[he finds he likes to swim for leisure, taking a few minutes now and then to just race himself across the pool, but he wouldn't say no if someone challenged him. after he finishes, he leans against the side and takes a sip of the water he's left along the edge.]

[when he's not hanging out in the water, he's playing fetch with the dog (throwing the toys into the pool or out on the grass), because pets are great; or he's lounging out in the sun, basking in how warm it is and unconcerned about getting sunburnt. he's trying to do this thing the kids call Relaxing? it's a new concept, really trendy.]

[feel free to throw a water balloon at him, because that's the only way he'll get dragged into a firefight, but be careful, because his aim is pretty deadly.]

[ here is jyn, in the shade, shoulders already pink from the sun, glowering at cassian relaxing in the warm sun without care at all.

what a dick. ]

It's not fair, [ she whines. ] We're both from snowy planets.

[ how come he gets to be tan and she is the color of that karking snow. ]

[he is trying not to grin because that would be mean. it doesn't work, he's too amused, but at least it's fond.]

[he does get up to come over and sit closer to her though. he likes being by her, so whatever. if he's still partially in the sun, it's also whatever.]

But your parents were not from that planet, yes? Mine were both also from Fest.
