( open ) it's a cool pool party!

[ Slip on your swimsuit, grab your towel, put on a pair of sunglasses, and come on over— it's time for a pool party!

Maybe you were invited by Jim, Victor or Lucy— they do have a bunch of friends, after all. Well, mostly Jim. What's that? You don't know any of them? Well, that's no problem! They've made sure to tell their friends they can invite whoever they want. Friends of friends, distant acquaintances, coworkers, what have you. All are welcome!

There's a sweet as hell pool in their backyard now, a new addition to the house, so it's kind of like a debut. There's music playing, a wide range of styles that go from dance music to classical rock, and there are chairs, a covered seating area, and a few extra towels near the pathway to the pool just in case you forgot to bring your own.

There are a bunch of floats both in the water and along the edge of the pool for everyone to help themselves to as they wish, and in addition to that there are a number of fun pool party games you can take up— water balloon fighting, balls available for some playful water polo, and whatever other game you can come up with.

Feeling hungry or thirsty? Not a problem! There are several drinks and cocktails (anything alcoholic safely kept away from kids), and a bunch of snacks and sweets. To add to that, there's a nice barbecue set up near the grassy patch next to the pool, and a supply of ribs, burgers, sausages and corn is made available throughout the party.

(Oh, and there's also a tiny porg and a water-loving dog.)

[This was clearly more James and Lucy's idea than his. Not that he hasn't become a lot more social, but he just has no experience in throwing parties. He's there to greet whoever shows up in a simple shirt and swimming trunks. Victor points them to the drinks-- both alcoholic and nonalcoholic varieties before letting them go.

He switches off barbecue duty with James so they both can cool off in the pool or mingle with their guests. He even bought an apron that they can switch off wearing, declaring them Master of the Grill.

He also bought a few water guns that he will make sure to point out to people he knows will take full advantage of them. And when not doing all that, he's swimming or playing with Lucy in the water]

[ It's Victor's turn at the barbecue, and Jim's sitting somewhere nearby, kicking back on a comfortable lawn chair with a colorful cocktail in his hand, looking stylish as hell in his short swimming trunks, a shirt and sunglasses. He tilts his head and lowers the glasses along the bridge of his nose, blatantly enjoying the view. ]

I think... a little more to the left? [ Maybe he's talking about those steaks, maybe he isn't. ]

[He is, in fact, turning over the steaks so they'll be evenly cooked. He hears James's words and smiles, carefully shifting them to the left-- though he's pretty sure that's not what the captain is talking about. Once he has everything arranged, he turns to look over at James. He cracks a grin]

You look like you could be on those "lifestyles of the rich and famous" shows.

[ With Victor partly with his back turned to Jim, it's definitely not the steaks he's checking out. His gaze drops to Victor's backside with a growing smirk, while he happily sips on his fruity drink. ]

Well, I wouldn't know about rich, but... we're both pretty famous, in our respective worlds. [ And plenty other worlds, too. One might say they're also famous enough, around here. ]

[He finally gets what James is staring at and smirks, shifting his hips a little to the left now]

You know, I really have no idea if I've gained a reputation in my world. It's been thirty years, so maybe I've turned into a ghost story.

[ His grin widens and he nods appreciatively. Very good, doctor. ]

Does it matter? You're also famous in my world, even though you're fictional.

Yep. We're just a couple of famous, fictional characters. [He looks amused, trying to busy himself so James can stare a bit longer. But eventually he has to move so he can take off the food that's done cooking]

You know, I don't think I know everybody who's come by. I think some people are just being lured in by the food smells.

Mm, that's right. Isn't life just great like that? [ It's a piece of knowledge Jim's come to accept a while ago, and it hardly seems to bother him. If anything he looks pretty pleased with himself as he leans back on his fancy chair again. ]

Oh, I definitely don't know everyone— yet. But I haven't turned down anyone, so far. [ The main house is locked in any case, so it's fine. ] Besides, we have our very own bodyguard. [ He gestures vaguely to where John is, playing by the pool with Lucy and Oona. ]

Yeah. You know, he's living up to his name pretty well.

[Not that he knows John the person as well as James does, but Victor knows him well enough. And John the dog is similar: loves kids and can be a bit of a goof, but is super protective of those he loves. He's growled away a few wayward visitors already]

[ Jim smiles to himself a little. ] He really is.

[ He's lost count of how many times Sheppard's saved his life so far. Well— maybe not lost count strictly speaking, but point is, he's been there for him practically ever since they met. Whether in dangerous situations, or when he just needed a shoulder to cry on (literally). And John the dog has had his back just as often too.

He glances back to Victor, tipping his head. ] You done with the barbecue yet?

Yeah, but you seemed to be enjoying the view. [He smiles knowingly] Unless you’re asking for a closer look?

Mm, yes... a much closer look. [ He beckons Victor closer with a crooked finger, uncrossing his legs and patting his own lap. ] Get your cute butt over here.

[Victor laughs, gives him a "really?" sort of look. But then comes over anyway, draping the apron over a chair so their guests will know he's on a break before settling on James's lap]

[ He grins in amusement too, but still does nothing to indicate he was joking— because he wasn't. He shifts so Victor can sit down on his lap as comfortably as possible, and he sets his drink down on the floor so he can wrap his arms loosely around Victor's waist. ]

Mm, that's much better. [ Puckering up his lips for a kiss. ]

[And of course Victor is glad to give him a kiss]

Hm. I knew this party was missing something.

Yeah? And what's that— comfortable seating?

[ He means his lap, of course. ]

[He chuckles, brushing their noses together before giving James another kiss]

Exactly. Though we can't blame the chairs for not being as comfortable as you.

True... and I'd say the same about you, but we both know how excited you tend to get when it's me sitting on your lap.

[ He winks at Victor, thinking back to a few of their encounters. ]

Are you saying that me being on your lap isn't exciting?

Hey— no, I didn't say that. But I will be able to get up and walk away without any issues, is all I'm saying.

[ He's so going to pay for this later, isn't he. (He loves it.) ]

Huh. I don't know whether to be disappointed or to take that as a challenge. [He gives James a poke] Not while there are guests, of course.

Please don't be disappointed, baby. [ He taps a finger against Victor's nose, smiling at him. ] I'd much rather you take it as a challenge. To answer to in the near future, of course.

[ He's keeping things very mild and innocent here, for obvious reasons. ]

[Of course he sees it more as a challenge] Count on it. As soon as we have alone time, I'll make sure that me being in your lap is very exciting.

I'm getting a little excited about it already. [ He chuckles, tugging Victor closer. ]

Wanna go for a dip in the pool with me?

That was the idea.

Mmm, yeah, sure. [Of course he has to get off James's lap again, which he does with a smirk and moves toward the pool, guiding James along with him]
