It's funny how Marinette, rather, Ladybug will fuss at other people to get rest and relax a while, but rarely takes her own advice. She's not put that many hours in with the Perimeter Guard since she only works with the search and rescue team part time, but it wouldn't hurt to pop in during her free time now and then. So the lady superhero makes her appearance, all red and black spots, complete with mask -naturally. Usually she goes out exploring around this time since she needs to see if she can find something interesting to spark her thoughts, but this time she's hanging around the guard station, either chatting with those present or idly training. Right now? It's training. She's been lucky enough to not have her memories leaked out or peeked in on - thank god(s). Or goddess. She's not picky. Swing by, chat her up or engage her in a friendly spar? ... be gentle.

Hey she's sixteen years old! ... Now. Her birthday passed a few months ago. "Well... there's Papillion, I guess he's kind of evil..." A certain level of evil at least. The kind of evil that has no problem with using others to get what he wants. "But other than that it's pretty peaceful."

Who knew she was going out? She shook her head, "No one, actually. I don't make a habit of using the network that much." She does however, make a habit of swinging through the city at random times in the day. She'd been in civilian gear at the time - it had to be a coincidence.

"Kind of evil." Okay. Uh huh. He'll bite. "What the hell's 'kind of evil'?"

Like that old crack about being a little bit pregnant. Seemed impossible.

"No one knew you were out." Don't make him whip out his Dad Voice. "What if something happened? Would anyone even have known to look for you?" Ticket to your guilt trip, right here.

"I mean.. there are probably plenty of people who are WAY more evil than he is. He could do a lot worse than what he has done so far - and that's bad enough." So.. KIND of evil.

Him suddenly turning around and almost Dad Voicing her was ... WEIRD. She's never had to deal with an adult turning around on her with ... a guilt trip of all things. She blinks in surprise for a second, then rubbed behind her neck nervously, "Well... that's the risk you take when you put on the mask, right?" Or the costume, or whatever cultural equivalent follows.

As far as she knew, no one she knew would have even looked for her, no. The thought was admittedly unsettling, "I knew it'd be dangerous if I accepted my role. I can't just sit back and do nothing if other people are in trouble." Her parents would probably ground her for LIFE if they knew.

"Maybe he was just warming up. Men like that, they push a little, see what they get away with. Push harder. Then a little more." Men, or women. Reyes had probably at one point been a decent DA.

And yes. Dad Voice. With guns.

"Look. I get it. But you don't go out alone." Only assholes like him do that. "Next time you go out, at least let me know where you're going." So he can stalk from a discreet distance.

"It's possible." She couldn't deny that. "And if that's the case, I wouldn't want to find out what he's really capable of." Or anyone else with similar goals for that matter.

Dad Voice is bad enough, though. Dad Voice with GUNS? Totally worse. "Wha - ?" Is he serious? Let him know - how fast could he move? Or is he gonna be watching her through a sniper rifle or something. "I really don't think that'll be necessary.." She didn't want him to worry about her getting in over her head again, accidentally. Although at least someone would know where she was if she DID get mixed up in things.

And yes, Dad Voice with guns. "I think it is. Never go into a hostile area alone." Unless you're Frank Castle, whose guns are almost as big as his death wish.

But.. what if it's not hostile, and then becomes hostile? Ladybug almost sighs at that, but gosh, he's just being pricklynice and looking out for her in his own way. And at least he didn't do the 'you're just a kid you can't of out there fighting' thing she worried some of the adults might do.

"All right, all right. If I go into a hostile area, I'll let you know ahead of time."

He probably should try to tell her not to go out and get herself in trouble, but he wouldn't listen if someone told him, so....

But he does want to see her do her weird special 'crimefighting'. "Fair enough. You go out dressed like that?" Just so he knows who to watch out for.

.... Frank, do you know how much like a dad you sound right now.

She glances down at her costume, then back at him, almost wanting to ask what's wrong with her outfit, dangit. "Yeah, it fits in with the whole 'Ladybug' theme. Besides, I wouldn't be able to do any crimefighting if I didn't wear it." Outside of her costume she's a normal squishy hooman.

No, and he'd probably be sad if she told him. Because he's not a dad anymore.

"Yeah, okay. Good visibility." Meaning, he can shoot someone around her pretty easy. He holds out a gun. "You use one of these?"

Now that WAS sad. "Yeah, I know, I'm a target." That's what he means right? She... still hasn't picked up on the fact that he might stalk her patrolling and shoot people around her. But she's not changing her outfit -- for one thing she doesn't think she CAN.

"A gun? No, I've.. this is the closest I've ever -been- to one and," she paused, "You have a LOT of them." what she just noticed NOW? ... no, but it is the first time she brought it up.

"You should learn how to use one." Yep. Dad Frank has decided, it is time for the child to learn guns. He shrugs. "Most of these belong to the Guard armory.

"I should?" ..WHY? She scratched her head. On the one hand, he seemed to have her best interests in mind, but... guns? "I ...don't know about that." Her own parents -- who weren't here obviously -- wouldn't want her messing around with guns, but at least she wasn't a child who would run around thinking she was playing cowboys and Indians with it. "Can I ask why?"

"Because there are things out here that can fucking kill you without thinking about it, and maybe what you've got," which is a red and black polka dotted get up, "ain't gonna do the trick."

It was a perfectly logical one for her, NotDad!

"That.. may be the case, but I'm not sure I'm comfortable with handling a gun." She mused. She was also about to point out of she could get killed by something that easily, she wasn't so sure the gun would tip the odds that much in her favor, but.. she doesn't know guns either, sooo. She guesses she can see where he's coming from but at the same time... gun.

"Yeah, okay." Because Frank is not a nice guy, but he's not the kind of not-nice-guy who forces kids to do shit they don't want to do. He puts the pistol down. "Then at least tell me you can disarm an opponent." If she can't? She is GROUNDED, young lady!

Was it really that weird that she didn't want to handle a gun? Also, what! GROUNDED? That's so not fair! How is she going to go out and fight crime if she's grounded, GOSH. Sneak out the window clearly.

"Yeah, I can disarm someone, no problem." Well maybe that's a little exaggerated. She hasn't had that many chances to do it, but she's gotten lucky in that matter before! Just.. not with guns.

Ladybug actually looks taken aback at first - even if it's not loaded, having a gun pointed in her direction is something she'd like to avoid. "O-oh. Right." She can do this! Both hands come up hesitantly, though she glances first at his face, then her left hand swept forward to grab the barrel of the gun while the other moved to strike into his wrist.

This is going to fail miserably isn't it.

Even though the pistol's empty, he still keeps his finger away from the trigger, and he waits. And waits, thinking of the number of shots he could have gotten off while she decided to move.

He steps back, resets. "Try doing it like you mean it." None of this gentle swatting shit. Welcome to Frank's Tough Love, which involves hurting him.

Yeah she was thinking about that also. She was RIGHT THERE and all. And though her suit is bulletproof, it.. probably would still hurt to get shot at that range. "Ah.." But Frank~!

Oh huff. Her mouth closes on the protest she was going to make, "..alright." She's not that happy about it, but - she probably wouldn't hurt him anyway! She hopes. So this time when he resets, she steps forward and slightly to the side with the same attempt to disarm him - a little bit quicker and focused this time.

"Better." At least she had the moves. "But you need follow through. It's not enough to just take the gun out. Gotta make sure they go down." He tilts his head, considering. "Probably a punch to the throat'd do."

He's... not going to expect her to do that too, right? "Wouldn't just hurting their hand so they can't hold the gun be enough as well?" Punching in the throat seems so... so VIOLENT.

"If someone's aiming a gun at you, they want you dead. You think they're not going to have a backup plan?"

"Well, if they can't hold their gun, I'm .. pretty sure I can handle taking them down hand to hand at least..prrobably." SHe's just.. never needed to punch someone in the THROAT and take them out THAT violently.
