( open ) get on board for perimeter guard shenanigans
who: Perimeter Guard members & visitors
what: a catch-all for routine Perimeter Guard stuff and shenanigans
when: throughout September
where: Perimeter Guard, beyond the wall, etc.
warnings: put any warnings in comment headers if need be!
[ This is a mingle log, so everyone feel free to write up your own starters, or just vaguely list out things your character might be up to, so other people know how they'd encounter them and where/how to engage. Some ideas for Perimeter Guard stuff:
• studying maps and working on map expansion;
• compiling wild animal data, reading/writing reports, other boring paperwork stuff;
• checking weaponry and devices, making repairs, etc.;
• going beyond the wall for a bit of surveying and exploration;
• checking out the shuttle currently being repaired (only Poe and Jim would actually be able to take it out for a test flight of any kind, but feel free to poke either of us if you'd like to thread that out!).
Go forth and have fun! ]

It's kind of my name.
You knew my dad?
no subject
[ He offers a small smile, understanding. ]
I liked him. I'm... sorry he's gone.
no subject
It's fine. Sometimes, he has to go. That's who he is.
no subject
Maybe he'll come back sometime, then. If he's prone to coming and going.
no subject
Loki had told him not to hold the promises of his father too close to heart, but what other promises did Jon know of? ]
He'll come back when he's needed. Until then, I'll try to fill in.
no subject
Then again he's thinking in human terms, and if this kid is anything like his father, then he's probably not human. Not completely, anyway. ]
That's very brave of you. [ He smiles, stepping out onto the makeshift shuttle bay. ] Just be careful, alright? I'm sure he wouldn't want you getting hurt.
no subject
[ And his invulnerability holds up pretty well. Unless Batman shows up with some kryptonite batarangs, Jon is pretty certain of that. ]
But thanks. I'll be careful!
no subject
[ Once they approach the shuttle, he lowers the ramp, climbing on board and gesturing for Superboy to follow. ] She's working, for the most part. She's just not very steady yet. We found her buried in a cave near the waterfalls.
no subject
[ Jon may not be as smart as the Bats, but technical know-how is one of his skills. ]
no subject
[ It'll do well enough when it comes to exploring the moon, though, so Jim won't complain. ]
I'm hoping to study more of the technology available here, see how I can improve upon it. For now, getting it up and running is enough of a victory to me.

[ Jon bends to look over the metal tiles. Some of them were loose and he wonders if he should weld them tighter. It's easy enough to do. ]
What kind of technology are you used to?
no subject
[ The ship's appearance still needs a lot of work, but Jim's working on it from the inside out. The engines and various controls first, then the chassis and the bodywork. ]
Warp technology. Haven't seen any sign of that existing in this universe, sadly, or at least this corner of it. Even if I were to get my hands on a warp drive, I'm not even sure it would be compatible with this shuttle.
no subject
[ Granted, Jon doesn't know how. Kathy's ship used that kind of energy. And he can't really say it ended well for any of them, but it worked? ]
no subject
[ Particularly while there are people on board. Either way, he's not planning on going too far for now, so it's not like he needs that much of a boost. ]
no subject
Yeah, that's probably for the best.
no subject
[ One never knows, and there might just be some piece of technology in the abandoned city that could help with that. Jim's always open to new ideas. ]
Anyway, I was hoping to fix some of the navigation system's hardware today. The circuitry boards seemed intact, save for one fuse or another, it's the wires that seem to be more damaged. Old and worn, for the most part. You just take the old one and replace it with a new one. It's not terribly exciting, but two people should get the job done faster than one. [ He hands Jon a pair of gloves, getting another for himself. ] I depleted the energy core, but you should use a pair of gloves anyway.
no subject
How fast do you need me to be?
no subject
We're in no rush. And, you know, if you're too fast I might end up with nothing to do, myself. Just... take your time. [ He shrugs, kneeling in front of one of the panels. ] You mind if I put on some music?
no subject
Is it old people music?
no subject
Well, it is pretty old music to me, but it's the sort I like. [ He gestures towards Jon. ] You take your pick. Give me a band, and we'll see if I have anything by them.
no subject
What do you mean, to you?
no subject

no subject
I like that old classical music best, so I'm not the best person to be telling you all about 23rd century music.
no subject
Can't be worse than my dad's. He listens to country.
[ But he grins. ]
You pick! I wanna hear what sounds old in the future.
