[ This is a mingle log, so everyone feel free to write up your own starters, or just vaguely list out things your character might be up to, so other people know how they'd encounter them and where/how to engage. Some ideas for Perimeter Guard stuff:

• studying maps and working on map expansion;
• compiling wild animal data, reading/writing reports, other boring paperwork stuff;
• checking weaponry and devices, making repairs, etc.;
• going beyond the wall for a bit of surveying and exploration;
• checking out the shuttle currently being repaired (only Poe and Jim would actually be able to take it out for a test flight of any kind, but feel free to poke either of us if you'd like to thread that out!).

[ Jim cants his head at that, a little puzzled but curious more so than anything. ]

Why not?

Cuz I'm half.

[ And the Eradicator kind of said he didn't count. What with how driven the robot was towards killing Jon. Removing his human half. While he knows that's not entirely true, Jon feels anchorless when it comes to Krypton. A part of him but a part he hardly knows. ]

So what? My friend's only half Vulcan. Try telling him that doesn't count.

[ Sometimes Jim even almost forgets there's a human side to Spock. When it shows, it often surprises him a little, although often in a positive sort of way. ]

[supersweet]

[ Jon is ten, he doesn't know what Star Trek is. ]

Yeah, but he knows about it, right? He grew up there. I don't have that and it feels weird.

[ Jim didn't expect him to know what a Vulcan is anyway, but from the topic he figured it'd be clear enough he's referring to another species. ]

Alright, that's true. But... [ He shrugs. ] It should be up to you, how you feel about it. If you feel like you're a Kryptonian or not. It shouldn't be a machine deciding that.

[supersweet]

I guess. I just don't know how to feel about it.

[ He's not sure he ever will. It's a moot point, one his father won't address either. ]

I can't say much about it, myself, but I think something like that probably takes some time. Some people spend a lot of time trying to figure out where they belong.

[ That's not so unusual, and not so bad either. Jon isn't alone in the world either, that's always a source of support in a way. ]

[supersweet]

Yeah. Everyone says that.

[ He's young, it takes time. He gets it, but he doesn't like it. ]

But I get it. I wish getting older doesn't take so long though.

[ Jim laughs, patting Jon's shoulder lightly. ]

Trust me when I tell you: when you grow up, you're gonna wish it had taken longer.

I saw what I looked like in the future once. But that was weird.

[ And also messing with his head. ]

Yeah? And why's that? [ Jim's curious, and it doesn't look like Jon minds too much talking about it. ] Didn't turn into some bad guy, did you?

[supersweet]

[ Jon shakes his head. ]

No. But someone was trying to do that to me.

Trying is one thing. Doesn't mean they succeeded. [ He nods at Jon. ] You just gotta keep being more stubborn than them.

[supersweet]

Mom says being stubborn is a dumb thing men do to stop using their brains.

[winscenario]

[ Jim laughs a bit at that. ] Well... sometimes, yes. But sometimes it comes in handy, too. When you gotta stick up for what you believe in.

[supersweet]

[ Jon nods slowly. ]

I'm not sure what that is yet.

[winscenario]

Don't worry, you'll get there. Took me a long while to figure it out, too.

[ He perks up. ]
