001 Getting Around Town [OPEN]
who: Willa Monday (
likeacoupon) & YOU (yes you)
what: February Catch-All and Out & About's
when: All of Frebruary
where: The Quarantine Bar & Grill, Communal Housing (floor 2), & Around the City
warnings: None Yet (will update)
The Quarantine Bar & Grill
[A charming smile spreads over Willa's lips as she works behind the bar at The Quarantine Bar & Grill. She isn't pleasant that often but she can fake it for the sake of getting better tips. She's dress a little nicer for work though she's still wearing jeans and a worn pair of black boots. Her blouse is a cute flowy white long sleeve top, mixed with her usual collection of necklaces, bracelets and rings. Her hair is braided, twisted behind her head and then tied back with a thick brown cord.
She's used to being behind a bar and is excited for the chance to make a little more money this way. She might have lied a bit when she got the position since Leo never actually let her work as a a bartender. Willa still thinks that she can do better than the honor system and a stupid glass jar.
When someone new steps up to the bar she's quick to flash them a warm smile.]
What can I get for you?
Communal Housing (floor 2)
[Willa finds this whole 'clean house' thing to be exhausting. She's only been in the city for a month and she doesn't have much in the way of personal items. She has her backpack with the circular wind chimes that Leo had given her and a few changes of clothes that she happened to have on her at the time she'd been taken. She's always been a light packer and, not counting the wind chimes, she doesn't have much in the way of keepsakes.
She's sitting on her bed, watching those who share her floor clean up and sort through their things. Willa is very interested in what people have or what they might be getting rid of though she takes great care not to show it. It can't all be junk and, who knows, maybe she can make a few extra dollars swiping stuff people don't want anyway.
An open left over container filled with chicken fingers is sitting in her lap as she sits cross legged on her bed. Left overs is one of the bonuses of working at a place with a grill. Willa pinches a piece of chicken between her thumb and pointer before dipping it in honey-mustard and then popping it into her mouth. It's cold but she's never been that picky about food.]
What's that?
[She spoke to one of her roommates, pointing to whatever it was they were currently holding. Willa doesn't see the harm in asking and she has a few hours to kill before she has to be at work.]
Around the City (scam)
[Willa has a small bucket in her hand as well as ten or so flyers that she'd swiped from one of the nearby churches. She's making her way through the streets, calling to those passing by while holding out the bucket in her hand.]
Make donations to the Church of Light.
Help those in need.
[She's a very skilled liar and doesn't miss a beat as she asks people for donations. She'll give a small amount of it to the church to save face but keep the majority of the money for herself. Tips aren't the only thing that's going to get her a bike faster and she's already tired of walking everywhere in the city.]
Your support will go to outreach programs, food for those falling on rough times and city restoration.
[It's a very convincing lie.]

[ooc: Feel free to hit me up with any ideas or the prompts from the test drive or lunar new year. Willa is going to stick to the city proper. You can also hit me up on plurk:
mizuyoko. We can plan something and I can write us a starter.]

For Dorian @ tevinteraltus
The young gypsy girl turns to Dorian, who's been kind enough to offer his assistance in finding her a few outfits to purchase. The money she's going to use to buy the outfits isn't entirely hers but Dorian doesn't need to know that.
She slowly walks through the rows of clothes before looking back up at her guide.]
What do you think?
no subject
He smirked at her question, and gave a slight chuckle at her commentary, raising an eyebrow at the top she indicated reluctantly.)
Are you particularly keen on wearing a poorly designed garden?
no subject
No, that's why you're here.
[She tries not to sound annoyed but this isn't exactly her idea of a fun time. She's never been on the up and up of fashion and she has no idea what she's looking for. Most of her clothes were hand-me-down's or cheap. It's one of the many things that mark her as a gypsy.]
How about I stop guessing and you grab a few things for me to try on?
no subject
What do you like here, if anything?
no subject
[She pushes through some of the racks and selects three shirts.]
I need to catch peoples eye too. I'm going for something too wear to work that will help me get tips. [Willa holds up a finger.] And before you get any weird ideas. I work as a bartender.
[ooc: what she pulls off the rack - X - X - X]

(He indicates the white.)
This one is a tad too pure. What sort of bar is it you tend, again?
no subject
[Is she being a little manipulative, maybe, but it'll help her save up faster.]
I realize that girls aren't your thing but you can help me pick out something that's attractive? Maybe tighter? [She doesn't know what guys are into. All of her male role-models kind of suck.]

Communal Housing; Floor 2
He came in, plopped down on his bed, the one they'd said was his anyway, and reached into the pocket of his jeans. There, he found a bracelet, pretty plain, silver. And he watched it twinkle in the low light of the room before looking over to the kid who'd asked the question.
He closed his fist around the bracelet before responding.)
Something from home.
(And he sat up, sliding the bracelet back into his jeans with a deft hand.)
So, roomies, huh?
Communal Housing; Floor 2
Then it's gone, that doesn't mean that she can't get a closer look at it later but her attention shifts back to the boys face as she licks the grease from her fingers.]
It seems like it.
You sound skeptical.
[Willa is skeptical about the city as a whole however she is very good at hiding it.]
Communal Housing; Floor 2
He looked over to her, slightly smiling, when she commented on his tone. Was he skeptical? Yeah, mostly. He rolled his shoulder in a shrug.)
I mean, I'm used to having my own space, you know? With walls? This is weird.
(He turned to face her again, getting a better look at her. She looked scrappy. He wouldn't be able to explain his assessment to anyone who asked, she just...looked like a kid capable of taking care of herself. Making a motion with his hand (somehow the bracelet is gone) toward her, he raised his eyebrows.)
What about you?
Communal Housing; Floor 2
I'm not that picky. I have a place to sleep and no one hoovering ominously over my shoulder. This is a dream come true. [She doesn't have the experience of camp but she's shared sleeping quarters like this before. Usually with family but it isn't that much of a difference for her. Willa keeps her valuables close enough and anything else stays shoved into her backpack.]
I've been thinking of moving out but that requires money.
[Which they don't have.]
So what about you? Moving out or dealing with people randomly bothering you.
Communal Housing; Floor 2
He rolled his shoulder in a shrug as a response, looking slightly lazy about the idea of leaving.)
I mean, it's free, there's food in the common room, a bed. Besides,
(He cast his gaze around the large sharing sleeping space, then looked back to the girl.)
I don't know about your experience, but in mine? Having personal space doesn't necessarily mean you're never bothered. Roommates, you know?
Communal Housing; Floor 2
Is there food? I thought that belonged to people.
[Like the others on the floor, not that it will stop Willa from eating it, but she's not sure how discrete she should be.]
I know. [She flashes him a smile.] Though I'm used to having a place I can change without random people walking into the room. [That's the biggest downside to all of this.]

bar and grill
So much so that he doesn't even bother changing out of the deep green uniform and black boots his unit is required to wear when they are on duty. Normally he wouldn't be caught dead wearing the uniform out in public like this.
He moseys up to the young woman working the bar, and at her warm greeting, he offers a tired, albeit genuine, smile in return. ]
Hmm. [ He idly taps his fingers on the bar as he mulls his choices. ] What would you recommend?
bar and grill
Whiskey straight and then maybe a nap.
[So maybe she couldn't help but suggest that he goes the fuck to sleep.]
Didn't think I'd see a guy in uniform come in here.
Rough day?
no subject
Something like that. Just spent a few hours with some of the most insufferable people I have ever met.
[ The scientists, or whatever they fancy themselves as, didn't even have the decency to say thank you after he helped their sorry butts. Which actually wouldn't have bothered him if they hadn't driven him crazy by the time it was over. ]
I just need to blow off a little steam before I get my second wind.
no subject
Sounds rough. [She isn't always a fan of people either.] You're welcome to talk about it but if I disappear for a few minutes it's not personal, it's work. [She flashes him a brief smile before placing the whiskey back on the shelves behind her.]
Does that mean you're going back to work Mr.Guard?
no subject
Thanks, but I think it would make for a pretty boring story. They were just the type who complained about everything.
[ Though if he's being honest, his own tendency to become incredibly irritable when annoyed probably didn't help matters. But it's totally not his fault if he might have snapped at them a little bit since they were the ones who started it.
He's about to take a drink of his whiskey, but when she calls him "Mr. Guard, the glass stops halfway to his lips as he raises an eyebrow at her. He seriously hopes that name doesn't stick. ]
Nope, no more work for me today. Well, not officially. I do got a few... side jobs I'm supposed to finish.
[ Which sounds way more suspicious than it actually is because those jobs are on the up-and-up. They just happen to involve his fancy powers. ]
no subject
[Willa cracks a half smile as she grabs a rag to wipe down the counter.]
That sounds a little sketchy. [Just in case he hadn't noticed his own phrasing.
Willa likes the nickname 'Mr.Guard' though she supposes she could use his actual name. She hasn't meet Wally in person before but she recognizes his face. Willa has the tendency to find people on friendr after texting or talking with them. It isn't all that difficult and it lets her put a name to a face.]
Are you going to elaborate or am I allowed to imagine the worst?

Bar and Grill
She found a quiet booth in the corner, grabbing a plastic menu off the table, glancing at it as she watched the door, not that she was paranoid.... much. She didn't hear Willa come up, so forgive the startled expression. Emma is silently cursing herself for letting Willa sneak up on her in the first place. She is supposed to be better at detecting people. ]
Sorry, yeah what's good?
Bar and Grill
I want to lie and say everything but I'd go with either the chicken fingers or the grilled cheese. The burger is good too but not the best I've had. Pretty standard comes with lettuce, tomato, pickles.
[Her head tilts to the side momentarily.]
You look like you need something to relax though. Alcohol I'd say a glass of white wine. Non-Alcohol I'd say coffee, cider or hot chocolate. Something to warm you up.
Re: Bar and Grill
She shook her head slightly though. She shouldn't really think of people like that here, it didn't do her any good. In fact, it closed her off and she couldn't afford that here. ]
Do you have cinnamon to go with that Hot Chocolate?
Bar and Grill
We have cinnamon and it wouldn't take much effort to have that with the hot chocolate.
[She doesn't bother to write it down.]
That all?
Re: Bar and Grill
Bar and Grill
Yeah. Grilled Cheese is pretty good and so is the Ruben.
I don't think either of those go with Hot Chocolate thought.
