001 Getting Around Town [OPEN]
who: Willa Monday (
likeacoupon) & YOU (yes you)
what: February Catch-All and Out & About's
when: All of Frebruary
where: The Quarantine Bar & Grill, Communal Housing (floor 2), & Around the City
warnings: None Yet (will update)
The Quarantine Bar & Grill
[A charming smile spreads over Willa's lips as she works behind the bar at The Quarantine Bar & Grill. She isn't pleasant that often but she can fake it for the sake of getting better tips. She's dress a little nicer for work though she's still wearing jeans and a worn pair of black boots. Her blouse is a cute flowy white long sleeve top, mixed with her usual collection of necklaces, bracelets and rings. Her hair is braided, twisted behind her head and then tied back with a thick brown cord.
She's used to being behind a bar and is excited for the chance to make a little more money this way. She might have lied a bit when she got the position since Leo never actually let her work as a a bartender. Willa still thinks that she can do better than the honor system and a stupid glass jar.
When someone new steps up to the bar she's quick to flash them a warm smile.]
What can I get for you?
Communal Housing (floor 2)
[Willa finds this whole 'clean house' thing to be exhausting. She's only been in the city for a month and she doesn't have much in the way of personal items. She has her backpack with the circular wind chimes that Leo had given her and a few changes of clothes that she happened to have on her at the time she'd been taken. She's always been a light packer and, not counting the wind chimes, she doesn't have much in the way of keepsakes.
She's sitting on her bed, watching those who share her floor clean up and sort through their things. Willa is very interested in what people have or what they might be getting rid of though she takes great care not to show it. It can't all be junk and, who knows, maybe she can make a few extra dollars swiping stuff people don't want anyway.
An open left over container filled with chicken fingers is sitting in her lap as she sits cross legged on her bed. Left overs is one of the bonuses of working at a place with a grill. Willa pinches a piece of chicken between her thumb and pointer before dipping it in honey-mustard and then popping it into her mouth. It's cold but she's never been that picky about food.]
What's that?
[She spoke to one of her roommates, pointing to whatever it was they were currently holding. Willa doesn't see the harm in asking and she has a few hours to kill before she has to be at work.]
Around the City (scam)
[Willa has a small bucket in her hand as well as ten or so flyers that she'd swiped from one of the nearby churches. She's making her way through the streets, calling to those passing by while holding out the bucket in her hand.]
Make donations to the Church of Light.
Help those in need.
[She's a very skilled liar and doesn't miss a beat as she asks people for donations. She'll give a small amount of it to the church to save face but keep the majority of the money for herself. Tips aren't the only thing that's going to get her a bike faster and she's already tired of walking everywhere in the city.]
Your support will go to outreach programs, food for those falling on rough times and city restoration.
[It's a very convincing lie.]
wildcard
[ooc: Feel free to hit me up with any ideas or the prompts from the test drive or lunar new year. Willa is going to stick to the city proper. You can also hit me up on plurk:
mizuyoko. We can plan something and I can write us a starter.]

Communal Housing; Floor 2
He came in, plopped down on his bed, the one they'd said was his anyway, and reached into the pocket of his jeans. There, he found a bracelet, pretty plain, silver. And he watched it twinkle in the low light of the room before looking over to the kid who'd asked the question.
He closed his fist around the bracelet before responding.)
Something from home.
(And he sat up, sliding the bracelet back into his jeans with a deft hand.)
So, roomies, huh?
Communal Housing; Floor 2
Then it's gone, that doesn't mean that she can't get a closer look at it later but her attention shifts back to the boys face as she licks the grease from her fingers.]
It seems like it.
You sound skeptical.
[Willa is skeptical about the city as a whole however she is very good at hiding it.]
Communal Housing; Floor 2
He looked over to her, slightly smiling, when she commented on his tone. Was he skeptical? Yeah, mostly. He rolled his shoulder in a shrug.)
I mean, I'm used to having my own space, you know? With walls? This is weird.
(He turned to face her again, getting a better look at her. She looked scrappy. He wouldn't be able to explain his assessment to anyone who asked, she just...looked like a kid capable of taking care of herself. Making a motion with his hand (somehow the bracelet is gone) toward her, he raised his eyebrows.)
What about you?
Communal Housing; Floor 2
I'm not that picky. I have a place to sleep and no one hoovering ominously over my shoulder. This is a dream come true. [She doesn't have the experience of camp but she's shared sleeping quarters like this before. Usually with family but it isn't that much of a difference for her. Willa keeps her valuables close enough and anything else stays shoved into her backpack.]
I've been thinking of moving out but that requires money.
[Which they don't have.]
So what about you? Moving out or dealing with people randomly bothering you.
Communal Housing; Floor 2
He rolled his shoulder in a shrug as a response, looking slightly lazy about the idea of leaving.)
I mean, it's free, there's food in the common room, a bed. Besides,
(He cast his gaze around the large sharing sleeping space, then looked back to the girl.)
I don't know about your experience, but in mine? Having personal space doesn't necessarily mean you're never bothered. Roommates, you know?
Communal Housing; Floor 2
Is there food? I thought that belonged to people.
[Like the others on the floor, not that it will stop Willa from eating it, but she's not sure how discrete she should be.]
I know. [She flashes him a smile.] Though I'm used to having a place I can change without random people walking into the room. [That's the biggest downside to all of this.]
Communal Housing; Floor 2
I didn't see anybody'a name on it, did you?
(Then he rolled his shoulder in a shrug. He figured this was sort of what living in a dorm was like, only it was co-ed.)
Yeah...that...isn't cool. I mean, there's the bathroom though, right?
Communal Housing; Floor 2
You have a point.
[Not that she's going to steal from her floor but she might do that to others.]
There is a bathroom. You should have seen it when you walked in. [She points to the door closest to the kitchen.] Right through there, even has a shower.
Communal Housing; Floor 2
Yeah, I know. I even used it.
(And he held up a hand.)
I out the seat up and everything.
Communal Housing; Floor 2
[Willa playfully mocks him before holding up a hand.]
Did you put the seat back down?
Communal Housing; Floor 2
(He raises a hand.)
I did. Scout's honor.
Communal Housing; Floor 2
Please tell me that you were actually a boy scout?
Communal Housing; Floor 2
Do I look like a boy scout to you?
Communal Housing; Floor 2
[She's just saying.]
Communal Housing; Floor 2
(And he looks legitimately offended.)
You can't be serious. Me? In those stupid shorts?
Communal Housing; Floor 2
I can imagine it and you'd look awful.
Communal Housing; Floor 2
(He laughed, shaking his head.)
No thanks.
Communal Housing; Floor 2
Good. I don't think I could take it if you did that.
Communal Housing; Floor 2
It might be a good Halloween costume, though...Do you think they do Halloween around here?
Communal Housing; Floor 2
Or whatever the hell passes as fall here.
Communal Housing; Floor 2
That is a costume for a party you're not invited to.
Re: Communal Housing; Floor 2
[She rolls her eyes as she goes to sit back on her bed.]
It's getting late. I'm going to grab some sleep.
[It's somewhere around 11 but Willa has plans tomorrow and wants to get up before sunrise.
Communal Housing; Floor 2
That sounds like a plan. Sleep well.
