ON THE WEEK leading up to November 11th, people will find plenty of posters around the city, as well as be handed flyers at times about the Community Center Charity Event. The Central Community, which is the chosen location for the event, will also be seeing an increased flurry in activity, with the place being prepared for the oncoming event. Play fields will be tended to, a few minor repairs will be made, and finally on the day before, the whole center will be set up and decorated for the event. There’ll be music and cheerful colors all around, with the main theme being sports activities, and the organizers —Steve Trevor, Bill Potts and Magnus Burnsides— will do their best to make anyone feel welcome and have a fun and different day!

TRUE TO ITS THEME, sports will be the main attraction of the day. From team sports such as football, basketball or baseball, to individual sports such as boxing, tennis, swimming or gymnastics, anyone will be free to gear up and join in, whether against one of the monitors, joining a team at random or going up against a friend just for fun. Everyone will welcome a new player, and random additions to existing teams will be all too welcome!
Other physical activities will also be ongoing, the most popular ones being laser tag, rock climbing and dodge ball, although plenty others will be happening throughout the day. Feel free to come up with your own games and activities, or even start your own game if you feel like it!

To add to the ongoing sports matches and activities, there will be various demonstrations and presentations, led by someone who’s both skilled and knowledgeable, and will be happy to answer any questions. Most demonstrations will be related to various martial arts and gymnastics, but do feel free to go with another theme if you want, or even set up a demonstration of your own. The whole point is to teach new things and share the knowledge, so have at it!

IF RUNNING AROUND EXERCISING and getting all sweaty isn’t your thing, fear not! There are plenty of activities that will exercise the mind more than the body, and they’re just as entertaining (if not more, depending on what each person’s into). At the game corner of the center there will be a long row of various arcade games which anyone will be welcome to play— no money is necessary to go for a round, although people are encouraged to donate a modest amount which will be added to other donations happening throughout the event. There are also a few TV screens set up with console games— the titles may come straight from some people’s worlds, or the names or concepts be oddly close to some that people are familiar with. All the games have multiplayer options, which can range from two to four players, since the event encourages socializing and group activities, but there’s no problem if you feel like playing a game by yourself!
There is also a long table with various board games on offer, which can range from complex tabletop RPG to other familiar games such as Clue, Monopoly, Ludo or even checkers and chess, as well as a number of different card games. Both familiar and strange brand new games will be available, so feel free to come up with your own and who knows? Maybe learn something new!
ALL THROUGHOUT THE DAY, there will be various open workshops happening, and everyone will be free to join in at any time. A schedule is available to anyone who wants to make plans and take their pick, and some of the available themes will be cooking (from cake decoration and chocolate making to cooking 101 and food dressing), arts and crafts (from ceramics, pottery and sewing to drawing and painting), and a few sports-related workshops, although there will be plenty other themes (feel free to come up with your own and assume they’re happening!).
Some of these workshops will be led by more familiar faces in the Quarantine: Eddie Thawne will be leading Boxing for Beginners, Bucky Barnes will be teaching some basics in Beginner Self-defense, Ava Orlova will help anyone who wants to learn some Fencing, and Steve Trevor will be here for any kitchen disasters to learn at least some basics during Cooking for Beginners.
A SMALL AREA OF THE CENTER will be dedicated to donations, which will vary in kind. Anyone’s free to donate clothes, toys, books and other various things, which will be either offered to anyone in need, or sold during the event for symbolic prices. Full profit of these sales will be saved along with any monetary donations, and used to help improve life in the Quarantine, whether that means restoring a public park or building, or setting up more play fields and playgrounds all around the city.
A FEW HOURS INTO THE AFTERNOON there will be a football game, and everyone will be welcome to join in and watch, as well as cheer for either or both the teams. Central and Eastern teams will face off against each other, coached and led by Steve and Bill respectively, and the game will be refereed by Magnus Burnsides.
Get yourself a scarf, a flag, a stadium horn, and cheer! Whoever wins the game, there’ll be plenty of celebration and no hard feelings on either team. (It’s not like there’s a cup to be won or anything— for now, anyway.)

ALL THIS EXERCISING AND ACTIVITY is bound to open up anyone’s appetite, and the buffet area is the perfect spot to fill that grumbling stomach of yours. Offering a variety of snacks, from deep fried stuff and sandwiches to hot dogs and pizza, as well as plenty of energetic drinks, various juices and the like, and a myriad of sweets and desserts on offer, everyone will find something to their liking here.
Feel free to grab a plate and help yourself, take a seat next to a stranger and hopefully make a new friend— or, if you’re still too energetic to sit down and eat, just poke at the snack plates and satisfy your hunger as you walk around. |

That's easy enough, except that those encounters are constant, whether it's the thing on the wall that lights a room's lamps without a flame, or the ways of getting from place to place that aren't horses or his feet, or the glass pictures that seem to fill the same functions as ravens and don't require a maester for their use. His confusion is mostly private, taking place in the rooms he shares with Daenerys, but not always, and while there's a little less of it every day, it still happens twenty times or more.
And so Daenerys has insisted that they both attend the Community Center Charity Event, specifically with an eye to learning a little more about what they've gotten into, and Jon has agreed.
This woman isn't familiar to him, but she's around his own age, and she seems friendly and as though she might be partly in charge of all this. He overhears her voice, and it sounds like a good Southron voice... not something from home if he were at home, but familiar here, for all that. He stands a short distance from her for a while, looking over the field, then eventually turns to her.]
Forgive me, but you're one of the leaders of the games? If I were back where you came from, would I find things like the things I'm seeing at this event today?
[OOC: Jon has a strong Northern Accent and is probably wearing more modern clothes that were picked up at the Harvest swap.]

I'm one of the team captains, yeah. D'you want to play? We could use another player.
[ He doesn't seem familiar with football, though. Bill smiles, ] The game's one from back home, yeah. It's not too hard to learn. You just kick the ball across the field and into the other team's goal, and try to stop them from kicking it into your goal.
no subject
[He peers at the field critically, then glances back at her. She smiles at him like his friends from home smiled at him, even before he'd made anything of himself.]
So it's about territory, but a little like a tourney. What happens if they kick the ball into your goal?
[Are there critical injuries? This place doesn't seem like it has that sort of mood about it.]

A good thing too, as that would defeat the purpose of today. ]
I'm going to want a rematch, just so you're aware. [ He warns with a playful smile and a raised eyebrow. ] But for now, congratulations on your win.

Bring it on, Trevor. [ She smiles, putting her hands on her hips. ] I'll take you on any time.
no subject
Oh, really? [ He quirks an eyebrow at her, head tilting to the side. ] Alright then, let's go. Right now. You and me, one on one. Doesn't have to be football, you just pick the game.

Magnus might be spotted throughout the day attending workshops, playing games, and being in too many places at once, trying to cover all the bases. He's agreed to referee the big football game, as he wouldn't have been well suited to coach a team in a game he's just learned how to play. But he does pick up on rules quickly, so the role of referee comes to him easily. If you've got a problem with a call, feel free to pick it up with him. ]

Spotting Magnus by one of the larger screens, he makes his way over, leaning over his shoulder and watching him play. ]
How is that one played?
no subject
Not being involved, of course, because that would be pretty unfair to some of the more normal-powered people in Riverview. Come now, he doesn't use his powers to push around people in sports. Instead he gives Magnus a friendly clap on the shoulder, laughing a boisterous but content approval. The dude is over seven feet tall, but he at least radiates good will and camaraderie.]
You're doing very well out here, my good man!!
It's wonderful to see everyone having such a good time!!
cisco ramon 🏆 ota
[ Cisco had decided to get all done up so he can cheer on Eddie for his demonstration boxing match. Anyone who comes to see that will see Cisco, in a full cheerleader costume, screaming his head off in support of his boyfriend.
He's gone for a more modest option than almost everybody else, but as far as Cisco's concerned, bare shoulders is a big step, thanks very much. He's not going to be out there in hot pants or something midriff-bearing; just not his style.
But he has allowed a friend to put his hair up into two pigtails, which is a first for him, and he certainly has the whole radiant, energetic, loud and smiling aspects of cheerleading down pat. He jumps up and down, brandishing a pair of bright red pom poms so enthusiastically that it's not unlikely he'll send one of them flying at some point in the day. He doesn't just content himself to cheering for Eddie, but checks the schedule for any other demonstrations or matches involving friends of his, and goes to cheer them on, as well: ]
Wooo! Come on! Show 'em what you got!
ii. laser tag
[ Laser tag is one of Cisco's favorite things, and he absolutely is going to devote some time in the afternoon getting a couple games in. He gets really into it, shouting strategies, finding hiding spots and vantage points, trying to coordinate with whoever is on his team. If you're looking for a laid-back game, being on his squad is probably not the best bet. But if you're looking for an awesome time...
And yes, underneath all that laser tag armor, he is still wearing the cheerleading outfit (see above). ]
iii. buffet
[ Cisco doesn't sit so much as collapse onto some of the bleachers that are set up near to the buffet, with a paper plate piled high with about four slices of pizza. He might feel sick later, but he's spent the whole day screaming and cheering and running and jumping around, not to mention the laser tag, so really, he thinks he's earned it. His pigtails are looking a bit more bedraggled, but he leaves them in, stubbornly.
He turns to whoever is sitting near him (stranger or no) and says: ]
Today was actually fun! I didn't know anything sports-related could, like, be fun!
I
He chuckles a little when he spots Cisco cheering for him from the audience, and it amuses him throughout the demonstration. His current sparring partner is the one leading the demonstration, explaining the moves and then showing them by putting them to use with Steve.
Once they wrap up, Steve steps down from the ring to give other people the chance to go for a match of their own. He nods at Cisco, grinning wide in amusement as he makes his way over. ] I wasn't expecting a cheerleader for a boxing match.
no subject
[ Cisco is a touch breathless from all the jumping around and cheering, but smiling wide. It had amused him considerably, when Steve first stepped into the ring. He and Eddie really do have a remarkable amount in common. Cisco's going to have to see if he can set them up as training partners, or something of the sort. Gym buddies? Was that a thing guys actually did? Cisco's got no clue. ]
Nice check hook! [ He seems particularly pleased with himself for knowing that term. Enough that he admits: ] I memorized this whole list of boxing terminology last night so I'd at least know the names for things.
[ Cisco might not be good at sports, or particularly interested in them in general, but he is not lacking for enthusiasm at least, and he's willing to learn a little. ]
Where'd you learn to box?
no subject
[ Well it is kind of cute, and of course Cisco has the hair to pull it off. It's a bit of an unusual choice, but he has seen Cisco with his hair up plenty of times before, particularly when they were elbow deep while working on some engine. ]
Ah, that's very impressive! I was about to ask how you knew that. [ His smile grows a hint wider. ] To surprise your sweetheart, I take it?
[ Cisco doesn't seem at all interested in playing, so he assumes Eddie has to be the reason. Steve can both understand and admire that. ]
In the army, for the most part. But I've always liked to step up on the ring, even before. Better than going around starting fights on the street.

II. laser stalking
a shadow in the corner of his eye, zipping away before he can get a good look.
Maybe the aura of being... watched...
... Stalked, even.
Keep your guard up, buddy.]
no subject
If he were out in the real world, it would be pretty damn frightening. But this is laser tag, so instead of being scared, he grins and moves into the next area, eyes peeled. Still, all the vigilance in the world isn't going to do him much good, when the time comes. His reflexes aren't bad, but they're not particularly great, either. ]
no subject
And then something swings(?????) from above him; suddenly, there's a little girl hanging off the railing in front of the lasertag warrior, blasting little laser beams and sounds at his chest plate with the most intensely stoic faces of all time. Aha, long-haired man, you've been caught proper! She feels accomplished. She thinks.
........................................
She pulls up (down?) her goggles on her forehead, her hair hanging dramatically in the gravity of her current pose.]
¿Hago lo correcto?

His time there includes wandering around the game area in search of some familiar faces until he stumbles across the Go-Go Kart racing video game he played back home and takes on any who would challenge him, making a few stops at the buffet to grab a bite to eat, and getting dragged into activities or attending some of the workshops.
He will eventually find himself at the place where the football match will be played later on. It's too early for most people to be arriving in preparation for the game, but a ball has been left out and he can't resist kicking it around as only a Flash can; there's a bluish-white lightning flickering around him as he zips about passing the ball back and forth to himself. ]
no subject
I'm pretty sure that counts as cheating.
no subject
Maybe. [ The word carries an accompanying shrug with it. ] But you gotta admit it'd make soccer a little more entertaining.

I find soccer plenty entertaining, particularly when I'm playing it. [ He cants his head briefly. ] Although I have other sports I favor.

I
Izzy's attempt at a simple pudding isn't the worst thing he's seen at least, but he can't help a small chuckle at her frustration, and he shakes his head as he makes his way over to her table. ]
Maybe the pudding was too bold for my recipe list. [ He purses his lips and shrugs. ] Have you tried it? It might not taste bad, at least.
no subject
Looking up at the chuckle, Izzy can't quite hold back her own mixture of amusement and exasperation.] I think you're the first person to ever call pudding bold. [The tease falls out easily, much easier than anything within the realm of 'cooking', anyway.]
I haven't tried it, no. I was a teensy bit put off by just how unattractive it is. [The petite woman laughs before an impish look flits across her face.] You wouldn't want to do the honors and try it first would you?
[Izzy isn't actually sure that she's got the gall to let anybody try the monstrosity. So, the tease is evident on her face. She's let her brothers try some relatively terrible concoctions before, but thehy're shadowhunters--so they can withstand a little digestion trouble. And some things haven't been so bad, but this is surely not one of the better results. Maybe only second to hockey puck muffins, actually.]
no subject
In any case, it doesn't look that horrible. It's mostly the fact that the shape doesn't seem to hold up, so she probably just mixed up some ingredient that didn't combine with the rest as it should.
He lifts an eyebrow at her offer, although far be it from him to back down from such a challenge. He's faced terrible things in his life, eating her poor excuse for a pudding can't be any worse. So, before she says or does anything to stop him, he grabs a spoon from nearby and scoops up a bit of the sloppy mix on her dish, lifting it up to his mouth.
His expression twists a little, eyebrows knit together as he tries not to react too strongly. It's hardly the worst thing he's tasted, anyway... probably. ]
I think... you may have swapped the vanilla for baking soda. [ Which explains the taste— and why it sort of blew up on her. ]
