who: 2B and whomever responds (probably perimeter guard members)
what: settling in with the guard (various prompts)
when: frontdated to after the picnic on april 10th
where: the Guard barracks
warnings: not really

[A new recruit has arrived, and she's quick to introduce herself.]
YoRHa unit number two, type B reporting. I'm projected to join the Perimeter Guard of Riverview Quarantine in the near future. When that happens we will participate in shared missions.
Let's work together to ensure future success.
[She states matter-of-factly, fist to the chest in an unusual salute.]

[Okay, before anyone joins anything it's time for physical evaluation and conditioning, or as it's more widely known - boot camp.
Stamina training, obstacle course, weight lifting. It doesn't matter what she's told to do, 2B completes the exercise swiftly and without any complaints. She's not even winded at the end and wearing a blindfold doesn't seem to inconvenience her in any way. Is she even a human? Of course she's not, is she.
How about this then - peeling potatoes in the kitchen. Someone has to do it, right? Just this one time, 2B looks rather pouty at the task. She's still doing it though.]
iii
[Time for weapons practice. 2B stands in front of the weapon rack, pondering her situation. In the end, she's here to fight. No support pod, no operator, it's going to be different than before. Possibly much harder.
But that's not the only thing that's different. She's going to fight, but not to kill. She'll protect others. She'll protect humans. 2B allows herself a small momentary smile. If you look at it like that, it doesn't sound too bad.]
Right. This should be fine.
[She picks up a training baton from the rack and proceeds to swing and spin it around a few times for good measure. Time to get started - are there any onlookers to comment? Or perhaps join in the practice?]

[Her gaze lifts hearing a voice, a familiar one.]
Yes, 2B it is. No, I don't live here. It's just part of my orientation as a member of the Perimeter Guard.
[She explains calmly and lifts a half-peeled potato. Obviously part of guard duties, that thing.]
no subject
Peeling potatoes is part of the orientation?
[It's not what he would've expected for the Perimeter Guard.]
no subject
[2B lowers the potato with a sheepish gesture. Whatever transpired is probably a bit embarassing for her.]
Anyway, you didn't know the function of this building?
no subject
Ah, I was actually hoping to get directions back to the housing building. I wandered a little too far from it, and I'm still getting the layout of the city.
[Well, she isn't asking him to leave, so Yuuri walks closer to investigate. The pile of potatoes next to her is pretty impressive, even to someone who's lived in an inn for a good potion of his life.] You're supposed to do all of this on your own? What kind of special circumstances were they?
no subject
[2B throws the potato into the air. Her right, knife-wielding hand makes a sudden movement - and the vegetable falls down cut in halves. No, not even halves, quarter pieces.
That's one, lots more to go.]
Do you remember what you said earlier? About going to the underground area, and talking to soldiers?
no subject
Down in the tunnels? [Yuuri frowns, poking at one of the potatoes that's rolled out of the pile.] I remember. What about them?
no subject
[2B sounds pretty evasive about sharing details of circumstances that brought her here. She sighs quietly and picks up the next potato in line.]
no subject
He looks up at her, frowning slightly.]
Did you go somewhere you weren't supposed to?
no subject
[Peel peel peel.
2B is pretty focused on her task right now, the potato quickly moving in her hands as its outer layer is removed at a fast speed.
Truth to be told, despite her efforts to hide it and her eyes being hidden, she looks rather... embarassed.]
no subject
He eyes the potatoes thoughtfully.]
Would it be against the rules to accept some help?
no subject
[Look, this potato is done already. 2B glances aside with a pause.]
However... I suppose getting assistance from others would be fine, here.
no subject
[It only takes a moment for him to find a peeler in one of the drawers and he quickly gets to work, peeling and then cutting the first potato with practiced, efficient movements.]
At least this isn't so bad as far as um, orientations can go.
no subject
[2B doesn't really mind getting help. In fact, seeing humans deal with the kind of food they are supposed to be eating can be interesting.]
I'm ready for whatever is required of me.
It sounds like you have some experience with this, though.
no subject
Comes with growing up in an inn. I used to help my mom in the kitchen pretty often.
[Of course, his sister would complain that he'd leave the harder cleaning jobs to her, but he will neither confirm nor deny if that's true.]
no subject
[She nods. Not exactly what she had in mind, but close enough.]
I wouldn't know. There aren't any inns or kitchens in my world.
[Or much of growing up for that matter.]
no subject
I never asked in the elevator last time. What's your world like? I remember you said there's not a lot of humans where you're from...
no subject
[2B's gaze falls a bit lower. She's about to say something really heavy and she knows it. But, hiding the truth is useless here.]
Where I am from - in that universe, Earth was invaded by machine lifeforms created by aliens. The invaders took over the whole planet and forced human survivors to the moon. But humans built their own androids to take Earth back.
I am one of them.
no subject
That's awful. [He's quiet, eyes on her.] How did... things go?
[He's almost afraid to hear the answer.]
no subject
I am... not sure if things will get any better, now.
[2B speaks with reluctance. It's not that she has her doubts. Considering what she remembers happening in her own world before she was transported here, she is genuinely uncertain what will happen next.]
no subject
I'm sorry.
[It feels cheap coming from someone who has lived a rather sheltered life. Yuuri wishes there were something more that he could offer, or say.]
no subject
It wasn't your fault. It can't be helped. It used to be worse. That's all true, but why do all these sentences sound so... hollow?]
Tell me.
How is your world like?
no subject
The peeler's back in his hand and he quietly starts working through the pile again, if only to give his hands something to do other than fidget uncomfortably.]
It's... normal, I think. Compared to a lot of the worlds other people are from. No powers, no run ins with aliens as far as I know. Our space travel technology isn't that advanced yet.
[He glances over at her.] There's a lot of people. Droids like you haven't been developed.
no subject
[Normal isn't how 2B would call it. What she's used to, what she'd say is "normal" is something entirely different. However...]
That sounds... nice.
Can you tell me more? How is living in that world like.
no subject
That's a pretty broad question. Um, is there anything specific you wanted to hear about?
no subject
[2B realizes she didn't peel anything for a moment now, she quickly reaches for another potato.]
If you can't think of anything, that's fine too.
[She doesn't want to pressure anyone here.]
