[A new recruit has arrived, and she's quick to introduce herself.]

YoRHa unit number two, type B reporting. I'm projected to join the Perimeter Guard of Riverview Quarantine in the near future. When that happens we will participate in shared missions.

Let's work together to ensure future success.

[She states matter-of-factly, fist to the chest in an unusual salute.]

[Okay, before anyone joins anything it's time for physical evaluation and conditioning, or as it's more widely known - boot camp.

Stamina training, obstacle course, weight lifting. It doesn't matter what she's told to do, 2B completes the exercise swiftly and without any complaints. She's not even winded at the end and wearing a blindfold doesn't seem to inconvenience her in any way. Is she even a human? Of course she's not, is she.

How about this then - peeling potatoes in the kitchen. Someone has to do it, right? Just this one time, 2B looks rather pouty at the task. She's still doing it though.]

[Time for weapons practice. 2B stands in front of the weapon rack, pondering her situation. In the end, she's here to fight. No support pod, no operator, it's going to be different than before. Possibly much harder.

But that's not the only thing that's different. She's going to fight, but not to kill. She'll protect others. She'll protect humans. 2B allows herself a small momentary smile. If you look at it like that, it doesn't sound too bad.]

Right. This should be fine.

[She picks up a training baton from the rack and proceeds to swing and spin it around a few times for good measure. Time to get started - are there any onlookers to comment? Or perhaps join in the practice?]

Something like that. [He gives a triumphant "aha!" when he finally finds something that might work.] Except our impurities are things like viruses and bacteria. Humans can get really sick from eating unclean food.

[Don't mind him, he's just scooping up the potatoes and placing them into the plastic container he found.]

I will keep it in mind.

[Sounds important. 2B will definitely remember it for later.]

If I had my pod here, this would've been much faster.

[She adds with only the slightest hint of complaint in her voice while picking up the peeled potatoes one by one and throwing them into the designated container. While her speed and accuracy are very good as usual, this isn't really the most efficient way of doing this kind of thing.]

A pod? [Yuuri pauses after he's dumped another handful into the box.]

What does it do?

It's a mobile support unit. A pod's primary function is to serve a supporting role in combat, providing intelligence, weapons control and cover fire.

They can do more than that though. For example... there's fishing.

[yokunaru]

Fishing? [He looks up, puzzled.] What for? I thought you and the other androids don't need to eat.

Okay, that should be enough. [With a little sigh, Yuuri straightens up and pushes the box of potatoes away from the edge of the kitchen counter.] Want to head out now?

That's true, however fishing remains useful for... other purposes.

[Whatever these mysterious purposes may be, 2B doesn't disclose. She does sound a little embarrassed about it however.]

Yes. Let's go now.

[yokunaru]

[Mysterious indeed. Yuuri makes a face when she isn't forthcoming with the information.] Sort of unfair to say that and then not explain. Now I'm going to be wondering what you mean for the next few hours.

So.. you're the winner of our contest. [He says when they're back out on the streets.] What did you want to see first?

It is nothing important, really. Don't be concerned about it.

Ah, right.

[She totally forgot about the bet they had. Short term memory hasn't been processed yet, so that part was pushed to the back until now.]

Ice skating, wasn't it? Moving on a frozen surface. I'd like to see you do it.

[yokunaru]

It's basically that. [Despite the horrible situation in her world, there's always a thrill that comes with showing someone basically new to skating what it's like.] We wear these special shoes with blades on the bottom. That's how we glide on the ice.

[More gently, he says, pointing-] The rink's this way. It's in the Community Center.

[howlongiwonder]

So special equipment is necessary. I see.

[Sounding curious, 2B follows along.]

I assume this is something you are very proficient at.

[yokunaru]

I'm decent at it. [Says the guy who had made it into the Grand Prix Final two years in a row now.]

You should watch Viktor skate sometime--he's amazing. [As soon as he steers the conversation away from himself and onto Viktor, his eyes light up.] No one's even come close to the winning streak he had.

[howlongiwonder]

Winning, you say. So it is a competition too?

Then this person must be the champion.

[Very good performance is something to look up to. 2B understands.]

[yokunaru]

Yeah. There's competitions at the national and international level. Some people like to skate just for fun, though.

[Yuuri smiles softly.] He is. He's the best there is.

[howlongiwonder]

Do you know him in person? If the two of you compete, it's possible.

[yokunaru]

[There's a full-on grin on his face now.]

Yeah... he's my fiance, actually. He's here in the city, if you'd like to meet him some time.

[howlongiwonder]

Ah. Part of family, then?

[Human relationships are still a mystery as far as 2B is concerned.]

If it's not a problem for you, then I wouldn't mind it, either.

[yokunaru]

[Yuuri blushes.] Ah...something like that. [They will be family if they marry like they plan to, any way.]

It's no problem. Viktor's way better with people than I am, anyway, and he likes meeting new people.

[The Community Center comes into view in the distance and Yuuri points it out with a smile.] Almost there.

[howlongiwonder]

I see. That sounds familiar, just a little.

[Perhaps unexpectedly, a slight smile crosses over 2B's face. She recalls a person who too was much better with people than she is.]

Do your best showing the dance, then. I am looking forward to it.
