Uh- hi, um. Yeah. You must be... Genji?
[ Cisco really really hopes he remembered that name right. It had definitely been something with a G, hadn't it? Hana has mentioned Genji a few times, but Cisco had been too distracted by the mere concept of a cybernetic ninja to pay as much attention as he should have to his name.
He holds up the head set, which Genji will obviously recognize, and says: ]
Yeah, I, um- Hana asked me to make some modifications to her head set, and she said she wanted it back the second I was done, so I was just... delivering it. Shoulda called first, I guess.

So he keeps his tone light and friendly, posture relaxed. ] Yes, that's me. You are Cisco, correct? It's nice to finally meet you.
[ Genji peers at the headset that he does indeed recognize and visibly perks up, shoulders lifting a little. ] Ah, of course! And it's no trouble, I only just arrived back myself from guard duty.
[ He gestures with his hands, inviting him inside. ] Would you like to come in and wait for her to return? It shouldn't be long.

This is, however, not altogether that much more catastrophizing than Cisco's brain normally does when meeting someone new or going into an unknown situation. He's getting pretty good at ignoring the paranoia and just getting on with his day, so he says: ]
Yeah, sure, thanks.
[ He steps in past Genji and looks around at the apartment curiously. He keeps clutching Hana's headset to his chest unconsciously, the nervousness that he managed to keep from his voice showing in how closely he is holding it. ]
You said 'finally' meet me... I guess Hana told you I've been helping with her mech? And... assorted gear, now.

He closes the door quietly and gestures to the couch. It's very noticeably lived on, with a few pillows and gaming controllers resting on it (and maybe a few crumbs as well.) ] Yes, she has. I'm glad you assist her with her mech, as my knowledge only extends to, well— [ He gestures with his obviously cybernetic hand. ] But feel free to make yourself at home. Would you like anything to drink maybe?
[ He'd been about to remove it anyway, but in an effort to seem more casual Genji reaches behind his head and undoes the airlock on his helmet. There's a whoosh of air out the sides and the helmet disengages, the green light fading. He pulls it up and over his head, revealing his recently dyed bright green hair and scarred face.
He gives Cisco a friendly smile. ] I usually make tea, but I know that's not everyone's— [ A pause. ] — cup of tea? [ Nice redundancy there. ]

He's distracted enough that he almost misses the crucial gesture which makes what Genji's was saying make sense. He looks up at the last moment, notices that, indeed, Genji's hand looks like a very high-tech prosthetic. After that, it's hard not to stare. Cisco tries, but he doesn't succeed. At least he is polite enough not to ask a million questions: for now, anyway.
When Genji removes the helmet, Cisco is perhaps a little more honest than he ought to be: ]
Wow, you've really got like a whole green theme going, huh? Love the hair, dude.
[ Some of the tension leaves Cisco's shoulders, now that he can actually see Genji's face; he smiles back, says: ]
Tea sounds awesome, thanks.
[ And he moves a few of those controllers and takes a seat on the couch, laying Hana's headset gently on the cushion in front of him. ]
We haven't got mechs where and when I'm from, so it's honestly, like, a total dream come true to be able to work with one. I'm still figuring out new stuff about it every time I take a look.

[ He puts his hands together, pleased. ] Good then! I'll start the water.
[ The kitchen is close to the living room, so he's still able to speak to him easily. He flicks on the kettle and goes about grabbing the tea pot from a cupboard, humming in interest. ] It has been interesting to learn what people are and aren't familiar with from their words. It's good to know that you've been able to assist her and learn.
[ He finds the tea bags and plops one in the tea pot. ] So are you an engineer? Tech person? [ A pause, more amused. ] Mechanic?

[ It occurs to Cisco belatedly that they might not even have traffic lights of that particular kind in Genji's time, and so his entire semi-humorous rant might sound like absolute nonsense. Even if they do have traffic signals that match those of earth 21st century Earth, it still might sound like nonsense. He rambles when he's nervous, and new people often mean nervousness, even when they aren't ninjas. ]
Yeah, I mean. I haven't known her that long but Hana definitely seems like the friend who talks you into dyeing your hair green.
[ There's a deal of amusement and fondness in the way he says it - Hana had made a very good impression on him. ]
Mechanical engineer. So... kinda all three! I make, like, tech and stuff for the emergency services peeps. And the Guard. I saw the uniform - you've prolly used some of my gear and just not realized it.
[ The Guard isn't exactly like a military group - plenty of people have their own customized weapons or gear or even uniforms. But there are some common resources available to everyone, and a certain number of those have been designed and put together by Cisco. It's one of the things he likes about this place - just how many people he's been able to help and work with. ]

[ He brightens at the explanation of what Cisco does, putting his fist in his palm as if he suddenly understands something. ] Ah yes, of course! I am sure I have, that is incredible.
[ The kettle clicks when it's finished and Genji pours it into the teapot, covering it and placing a tea cozy over it (which is bright pink and shaped like a rabbit.) He heads back over to the couch and sits on the arm. ] I suppose it stems from all the work that has been done to me over the years, but it is incredible to me how people can just— [ He gestures with his hands. ]—create things.

[ That thought amuses to Cisco - that there are somehow a pair of brothers, one of whom chose to become a ninja and the other of whom went the Oliver Queen route. He relaxes a little further, grinning in delight when Genji comes in with the tea pot in that ridiculous tea cozy - definitely Hana's. ]
She really does like rabbits, huh?
[ No need to explain who he is talking about. Cisco almost looks comfortable and at ease, by the time Genji comes and perches on the couch. And that ease translates into him being even less careful in what he says. ]
When you say work... you mean prosthetics, right? I wasn't gonna ask, but...?
[ But now he is asking, because Genji had mentioned it offhand and Cisco is curious. He doesn't want to be invasive, of course, but if Genji doesn't mind speaking about it... ]
no subject
And since he brought it up, Genji has no problem talking about it and he nods. ] I do. And there's no harm in asking, since it's rather obvious. All of this— [ He gestures around his chest and the green light glowing faintly under his Guard uniform. ] —is technically a prosthesis. Just a full body one.
no subject
[ Cisco's never been all that big on competition. Sure, he'll boast about how Barry is a better superhero than Oliver, and nothing makes him want to prove himself more than other people underestimating him. But that was just about proving he was worth respecting - it was never about being the best, or beating other people. He's known people who always have to be the best, and invariably their insecurities made them into aggressive assholes, like Hartley. Or, if he thinks about it... maybe even Dante, a little. ]
Hey, man, way I see it, if it's obvious you probably get a ton of people asking, and you probably get super sick of it.
[ When Genji gestures at his torso and says it is all a prosthesis, Cisco can't help it: his eyes go round, and he stares. A few seconds of stammering later he manages to ask: ]
That's... a lot. I- do you mind if I ask, I mean... how? And, um, you know, why? Was it like, an enhancement thing or did you- did you get really hurt?
no subject
[ He gives a little shrug with a shoulder. ] Since I've been here, some people genuinely have no idea or concept of what my cybernetics even are. I don't have any problem with explaining it. [ And no need to get into the harsh socio-political climate of his home world...
And ah, the million dollar question. ] It was a medical decision to save my life, yes. The specific augmentations I received were because I was essentially in the military.
no subject
[ It would explain the competitiveness, probably. That sort of thing seemed to happen more between brothers who were nearer to being equals in terms of age and accomplishments. Then again, apparently Dante had been feeling threatened by Cisco all these years, which.... is still a lot to wrap his head around. ]
Essentially?
[ He doesn't mean to pry, but that phrase sticks out oddly to him. Cisco is a civilian, and he's pretty used to thinking of being in the military as a binary state - either you are or you aren't.
He doesn't ask about why the life-saving procedure was needed, despite being curious. Just nods and says: ]
Well, seems like they did a hell of a good job with it.

[ That's probably mildest explanation of the complex relationship Genji has with Hanzo... but that's not a topic for a first meeting. He hops up to go check on the tea as Cisco 'asks' his question. ] Well, it was technically an international task force I suppose. It's just easier to explain that way.
[ He removes the tea cozy and chuckles, maybe slightly preening on the inside a little. ] Why thank you. I did have world renowned scientists work on it... you know, not to brag or anything. [ He's clearly joking, an amused little look on his face. ]

[ It is interesting, to Cisco, that Genji talks about his brother having responsibilities growing up. It makes him wonder what kind of an environment would make one brother a master archer and another a ninja who works for an international task force. Definitely not all that similar to the Ramon household. And when he thinks about Dante having responsibilities... well he could honestly burst out laughing right there and then. But it's not the kind of funny that he wants to have to explain, or that Genji would probably think is all that amusing at all.
It seems natural when Genji turns to get the tea to let the brother thing go, before it becomes awkward (on his own end if nothing else). Cisco asks: ]
Oh, so that's... Overwatch, right? The same one Hana worked for?
[ He knows very little about all that, but he remembers the name at least, from when she'd been explaining her life before she came here and the fact that she has some enemies. ]
Hey, if you ask me that's pretty worth bragging over.
