[ Cisco gestures Ginko inside and then shuts the door behind him, beckons the man to follow him inside past the various tables full of half-built tech, the shelves of parts and fabric and a bunch of boxes of assorted junk that might be useful someday, or might be magical, or might be alien tech. He gestures towards the free chair and sits back down in his own chair, rolling a bit closer as he confirms: ]

Cisco Ramon! Just Cisco's fine. Or 'hey you' works, too. So... you said there's no phones where you come from, right? Not even landlines? You want me to run you through the basics of what you can do with this bad boy, and then maybe you can tell me some stuff about mysterious floating sentient kinda inanimate mushi things?

[ He could have just said 'mushi' but where is the fun in that? Cisco's faint nervousness is just contributing to make him a little brighter, a little bubblier than normal, which right now is translating into a lot of smiling and speaking just a little faster than usual. ]

I mean obviously you already worked out how to post videos on the network, so you're already a lot ahead of some people I've talked to here.

[Chairs are still weird. Rolling chairs are especially weird??? The aversion to floors is very peculiar to Ginko, who's spent his entire life sitting and lying on the floor or the ground, depending on circumstances. So he definitely gives the chair a mildly bemused look before focusing on the young man sitting in it, and moving to also sit down in the empty one. He might have a slight bit of trouble getting it to stay still when he tries to, but he manages after a few moments. He makes an acknowledging sound as Cisco clarifies his name, then moves onto the next topic.]

I've never heard of a "land line," no. [Sounds like something to do with farming tbh. At that remark, though, he shakes his head slightly, an amused quirk to his lips.]

Anyway, I didn't, actually. The people who gave it to me arranged it this way.

[Probably to stop him from trying to take it apart and see if it was using mushi somehow...haha...ha...]

So if you could teach me, that would be great. [A beat] What kind of story would you like to hear?

[ Cisco sees that brief hesitation before he sits in the chair, but just assumes it is some kind of etiquette thing. It's hard enough for him to remember how to be polite in his own time and culture; he has pretty much no hope for remembering all the rules and procedures for anyone else's rules. But Ginko doesn't seem uncomfortable, so Cisco lets it go with a little shrug.

It makes sense to Cisco that the welcoming committee had set up Ginko's phone so he wouldn't need to know anything to do a basic video post on the network. He's met some other people with a similar setup. It's a good service, for those who aren't interested in learning. But Ginko clearly isn't one of them. He wants knowledge, and Cisco kind of likes teaching people things. ]

Sure thing. I'll just teach you how to use it, for now, and if you ever wanna know how it works and all that, I can tell you that, too.

[ That might be going further than Ginko is interested in, but you never know. Just because he's probably never heard of circuit boards or LCD or batteries doesn't mean he wouldn't like knowing about them. And at heart, Cisco is an engineer. He loves knowing how machines work, can't fathom that other people wouldn't, too. ]

Oh, man. I don't know. Is it cheating to just say your favorite story. I guess... a big win, something like that.

[ But first, the phone: Cisco takes his time, walking Ginko through the basics. The display, the way the touch screen works, how poking quickly and pressing down his finger would do different things, how to swipe in different directions, headphones, electricity and the importance of charging regularly. He leaves little pauses, in case Ginko has questions, and if there is ever anything Ginko doesn't understand, he goes back, explains in a different way, with more metaphors if necessary.

After he's covered what he thinks of as the absolute fundamental things, he asks: ]
