Perimeter Guard - Open
Perimeter Guard - Open
She was still deciding if she liked this difference.
Yuffie was dressed in her usual ninja gear with a silver arm guard trailing down the length of her left arm. Her usual smile on her face as she slipped up next to Keith. "Hiya!" She was also in Search & Rescue as well as the Surveyors. She had a talent when it came to going to places that she didn't belong.

She stretched her arms over head, elongating her spine. "Just don't throw me. You now, unless I ask. We got the North section right or some such nonsense in that direction?" She looked up at him with her usual bright purple gaze. This was the kind of thing she loved doing. "You think you can move quickly in all that stuff?"
It looked like she might out run him.

"I... yeah. Sorry about that." He looked down. In a much calmer mindset now than at the party, he was able to figure out that he had definitely overreacted. He was still a little bothered that he had reacted that way at all. He should have been able to control it better. "I don't really know what came over me. I just... reacted."
He nodded. "Yeah... North. And I'll be fine." Altean armor was surprisingly light weight and easy to move in. He would be okay. "I'm used to wearing this now." He was pretty fast in it, too. Just try him.
no subject
"Mmhmm?" She hummed softly, looking up at Keith as if she didn't know what he was talking about. "So you don't normally throw girls? probably a good move if you ever wany a girl friend. She winked. "It's in the past. Let's focus on the mission."
Nope, she didn't believe that he could keep up with her. Granted, she was an amazing awesome ninja and she had magic to help her.

However, he wasn't much of a talker, and was perfectly find to keep walking in silence towards their sector. She'd probably have to keep up the conversation if she wanted to chat.

"Is your favorite color red? Why do you wear so much armor? If you got a pet what pet would it be?"
no subject
He considered her questions. What... those were three different topics!
"I uh... Well, okay," he managed. "I guess so? I never really thought about it before. The armor is basically my uniform for Voltron. And, I have no idea. Pets are weird."
no subject
Why bother being honest if people always thought you were lying?
Yuffie puffed a soft breath of air before focusing on Keith. "Pets are weird and usually a lot of work." She agreed with a shrug. "That's your armor? That's kinda intense don't you think? Not that I'm complaining. I'll let you go in first and back you up. I got speed and spells. I can also heal." It was important for him to know for their working relationship.

Keith didn't know what a 'summon' was, but it sounded like it called something, and he was kind of a little worried about it not working. If it suddenly worked, but not the way she thought it should, that could be bad, right?

He assumes the same is true of the young man set to accompany him on a routine patrol outside of the perimeter fence— a pretty standard jaunt through the forest to ensure no wayward adventurer got in over their heads. The idea, apparently, is to pair some of the newer members together to allow them to get to know each other.
X’rhun waits at the designated gate, looking not at all prepared for a walk through the woods in his bright red duelist garb, his rapier hanging from one hip, the crystal focus he uses for casting spells hanging from the other. For now, his impressively plumed hat sits atop his head, concealing his feline ears underneath. Even so, it should be obvious he isn’t human, given his facial markings and slit-pupiled eyes. And the furry tail, swaying easily while he waits.
Thankfully he doesn’t have to wait overlong before he spots his partner for this outing.
“Ah, you must be… Keith, was it?”
no subject
If X'rhun was expecting a surprised reaction to his general appearance, he wasn't going to get it. Keith's heard about real mermaids, seen talking rocks, and met a race of tree people that could manipulate both nature and metal with their minds. He had a lot of competition for weirdest being ever met.
He nodded.
"Yeah... that's me." He did take a once over glance of the clothes, though. "How do you say your name?" He'd only seen it written down, and... well... He didn't want to butcher it on the first try. Might as well clarify it first.
no subject
“X’rhun,” he offers. With the x like xylophone, rhun like run. The twenty-six miqo’te tribes of X’rhun’s home decided to each claim a letter of the Eorzean alphabet and affix their names with it. Some of them got off easier than others. “A pleasure to meet you.”

He glanced at the gate.
"I think we're headed for the southeastern quadrant today," he said. "Have you been out there before?"
no subject
He follows Kieth’s gaze to the gate, turning to face it more fully. He gives a little wave to the camera posted there— hopefully that should be enough to get the thing open and get them on their way.
“Yourself?”
no subject
X'rhun's look was definitely enough, as the gate operator recognized they were ready to go. The gate opened, giving them access to the outside. With a nod up at the operator, Keith started out. Once through, the gate closed behind them, leaving them to their patrol.
no subject
“That’s rather convenient.”
He angles his head a little as he inspects the map, surmising that the red dot must indicate their current location. Shortly thereafter, the gate slides open, and the time for gawking at holographic maps is over as they step out into the forest.
“Well, since we’ve been partnered up on this little excursion, why don’t you tell me about yourself a bit? Where do you hail from?”
no subject
"I come from a place called Nevada on the planet Earth," he said. "Though, I haven't been there in a while. I was in a group of people that found an ancient spaceship, and we got pulled through a wormhole almost to the other side of the universe. Now, we travel space and are attempting to take down an evil empire that's been conquering and destroying worlds."
"Spaceship" was probably a little easier to relate to than "massively gigantic robotic psychic space lion that combines with four other massively gigantic robotic psychic space lions to make an even more massively gigantic fighting robot".
no subject
“What is a… ‘space ship’?” He ventures at last. He can hazard a guess based on the name, but he would rather not jump to conclusions. “Is that like an airship?”
no subject
no subject
It’s a fascinating thought, though, to be able to travel between stars in a ship, negating the need for powerful and questionable magic like that used by the Ascians, who slip through space as they please.
“Anyroad, you’ll have to forgive an ignorant old man. We’ve not even half the technology I’ve seen here where I come from.”
