Keith had found the gym. It had a decent practice room for fight training, too. So, he was there, warming up and going through some motions prior to meeting up with Marinette. He wouldn't be doing anything complicated if people wanted him to show them something because he had someone to meet, but he'd spar with someone if they asked.

Once Marinette arrived, he had things set up for a really basic beginning to some self-defense training, including some good mats. She'd called herself a clutz, after all, so he wanted to be prepared.

Keith was getting used to his new 'job' with the Perimeter Guard. He'd taken on one position that was with Shiro (search & rescue), but also a second unit separate from him (surveyors). So, now he had to try and get to know his new 'teammates'. Getting used to one team had been hard enough back home. Now he had to do it again? Ugh. Why did he sign up for this again?

Now that he had a basic idea of certain important places... gym, food store, hospital, stuff like that. Now, he was curious as to what else was around, so it was time to explore. He could be found mostly window shopping and getting an idea of where things were. Some days, he would stop at Sunset Diner for lunch or Sakura for dinner, depending on which shift he had for the Guard that left him free time to explore.

She'd been so caught up with her sewing earlier, she almost missed her appointment with Keith - almost. About twenty minutes before she was really supposed to show up, she went sprinting down the block, skidding to a stop at the gym. So Keith would hear her before seeing her. "Hey Keithaguh!" She was in such a rush, she wasn't paying attention to the nothing she tripped over and fell almost flat on her face, her backpack slipping off her arm to skid across the floor. "Nrrggh.."

Floor - 1, Marinette - 0

When he wasn't out and doing things, Keith was back at the communal housing unit, trying to figure out how to get some privacy. He was starting to get antsy, and, by the end of the month, might be working hard towards being able to move out. The lack of private space to be on his own was starting to wear on him.

That didn't mean he wasn't accessible. Eating meals at the table, or spending some time in the sitting room. Come bother him!

Yup. Keith definitely heard her coming, and he turned just in time to see her almost faceplant.

Oooookay... so this might be harder than he thought.

"You okay?" He picked up her bag and brought it over to her.

Marinette awkwardly sat up, giving him a sheepish grin, "Hahaa, I ...should watch where I'm going."

She got to her feet, dusting herself off and accepted the bag appreciatively, "Yeah, I'm fine, thanks~!"

Yuffie liked working for the Perimeter Guard. It gave her time to train and to explore beyond the wall that protected the city from the forest around it. She found it interesting how similar it was to Gaia while also being a stark contrast to the planet that she calls home. There were similar creatures and tasks but it all felt different.

She was still deciding if she liked this difference.

Yuffie was dressed in her usual ninja gear with a silver arm guard trailing down the length of her left arm. Her usual smile on her face as she slipped up next to Keith. "Hiya!" She was also in Search & Rescue as well as the Surveyors. She had a talent when it came to going to places that she didn't belong.

X’rhun is a member of both Search & Rescue and Orientation, inducting new recruits and giving them a crash course in the Perimeter Guard and their duties. In the very, very brief time he’s been with the Guard, he’s yet to meet a new recruit that was not in some way qualified for the job.

He assumes the same is true of the young man set to accompany him on a routine patrol outside of the perimeter fence— a pretty standard jaunt through the forest to ensure no wayward adventurer got in over their heads. The idea, apparently, is to pair some of the newer members together to allow them to get to know each other.

X’rhun waits at the designated gate, looking not at all prepared for a walk through the woods in his bright red duelist garb, his rapier hanging from one hip, the crystal focus he uses for casting spells hanging from the other. For now, his impressively plumed hat sits atop his head, concealing his feline ears underneath. Even so, it should be obvious he isn’t human, given his facial markings and slit-pupiled eyes. And the furry tail, swaying easily while he waits.

Thankfully he doesn’t have to wait overlong before he spots his partner for this outing.

“Ah, you must be… Keith, was it?”

Maybe a first aid kit wouldn't have been a bad idea, but Keith was pretty sure the gym had one, so he wasn't that worried... yet.

"Okay." He nodded to her bag. "If you need to get ready, the locker room is in the back."

"Oh... uh, hi." Keith scrunched his eyebrows a little, and nodded in response. "I guess we're going out on this patrol together, huh?" He was in his Paladin armor, and was only carrying one visible weapon... a large dagger that was in a sheath clipped to the back of his belt. "You're my partner, then?" She seemed pretty upbeat, so he'd just go along with that, especially considering what had happened between them at the Masq.

Sending the two guys in red off together, eh? Keith was in his Paladin armor, though the main weapon was currently stowed. On the back of his belt was a sheath, inside of which was a large dagger, the handle wrapped with an off-white cloth.

If X'rhun was expecting a surprised reaction to his general appearance, he wasn't going to get it. Keith's heard about real mermaids, seen talking rocks, and met a race of tree people that could manipulate both nature and metal with their minds. He had a lot of competition for weirdest being ever met.

He nodded.

"Yeah... that's me." He did take a once over glance of the clothes, though. "How do you say your name?" He'd only seen it written down, and... well... He didn't want to butcher it on the first try. Might as well clarify it first.

Thus far, X’rhun has seen a fairly even mix of people who have no idea what he is and people who could not care less that he shares some notable traits with cats. When he doesn’t get a reaction about his appearance, he just assumes Keith is in the latter camp and leaves it like that.

“X’rhun,” he offers. With the x like xylophone, rhun like run. The twenty-six miqo’te tribes of X’rhun’s home decided to each claim a letter of the Eorzean alphabet and affix their names with it. Some of them got off easier than others. “A pleasure to meet you.”

"Looks like it." Yuffie held grudges but she was cool with Keith. He hadn't actually thrown her and she had still managed to take his mask off first. She will count that as a win. The way her mind worked sometimes didn't make a lot of sense.

She stretched her arms over head, elongating her spine. "Just don't throw me. You now, unless I ask. We got the North section right or some such nonsense in that direction?" She looked up at him with her usual bright purple gaze. This was the kind of thing she loved doing. "You think you can move quickly in all that stuff?"

It looked like she might out run him.

"Yeah, let me just go and change into my exercise clothes. Won't be long!" She turned, scampering off to the changing room, then bounding back out in a simple red blouse and black shorts. "All set~!"

During the pollen infestation, Keith might seem different around Shiro than usual to anyone that knew their relationship. He seemed more upset than usual by Shiro's appearance... the shock of white hair, the scar on his face, and most definitely his right arm. This would be noticeable to anyone who knew that Keith should definitely be aware of these things when they first arrived around the same time as each other.

Keith slowly evened out about it throughout the course of the week, but it was definitely clear that the pollen had caused him to forget just how Shiro had ended up this way.

Then word got out that there was a tea that could counter the effects of the pollen. Keith was dubious as Shiro suggested it.

"What if it tastes gross?" he asked.

Oh, the priorities of kids... especially when they thought they were younger than they were. It didn't help because Keith had already seen his arm, but to make it less... strange, Shiro had started wearing the jacket when Keith was around. Not really that it wasn't there, but Keith didn't have to look at it.

"Gross or not, it will help you get back to yourself."

He had known from the first moment when Keith had panicked at seeing his hair and the scar that something was up. Based on questions, he had rather definitively determined that Keith didn't know about Kerberos or the Voltron Lions yet. So he was glad for the tea, sure it would help the teen.

"Besides, they said you only have to drink it once."

"X'rhun," Keith repeated, making sure he had it right. "Same."

He glanced at the gate.

"I think we're headed for the southeastern quadrant today," he said. "Have you been out there before?"

Keith creased his eyebrows dubiously.

"I... yeah. Sorry about that." He looked down. In a much calmer mindset now than at the party, he was able to figure out that he had definitely overreacted. He was still a little bothered that he had reacted that way at all. He should have been able to control it better. "I don't really know what came over me. I just... reacted."

He nodded. "Yeah... North. And I'll be fine." Altean armor was surprisingly light weight and easy to move in. He would be okay. "I'm used to wearing this now." He was pretty fast in it, too. Just try him.

"Yeah, sure."

It wasn't long at all, and he had moved over to the spot he had taken over for the two of them. Well... he could appreciate her aesthetic. It kind of matched him, oddly enough, but he was wearing pants instead.

"Okay. We should warm up first."

He nodded for her to sit on the mat.

"I'll coach you through some stretches."

Well, Keith had lost about three years with the effects of the pollen. In his mind, he and Shiro were still in the Garrison. Shiro an officer, and Keith a cadet on par to surpass Shiro's own flight scores. He was top of his class. Kerberos hadn't happened, yet. He knew nothing about Voltron or the Lions. Finding himself in Quarantine all over again had been enough of a shock, but seeing Shiro had almost floored him.

"You mean get back the memories I'm missing."

He'd figured that out. After all, he had his own physical changes, too. He was somewhat taller, a little older looking, and there was a new scar on his shoulder that he didn't remember getting.

"Alright. I'll try it."

After all, Shiro hadn't lead him wrong before.

Red and black was definitely her thing too. As directed, she trotted over to sit down on the map in front of him, "All right, sounds good." She might be a horrible clutz, but she was pretty limber; and she was used to doing warm up exercises, though not necessarily the same ones Keith would show her in, so she won't hurt herself doing stretches at least.

Hopefully.

Well, at least the warm up was okay. He went through several of them, not sure of the level of her experience with anything athletic, but each time she showed signs that she seemed to know what she was doing, Keith upped the level a little. They're training as Paladins hadn't gone well the first few times because Hunk and Pidge hadn't really been fighters to start with, so getting tossed into a high level situation had been disastrous. He was attempting to avoid a repeat of that here. Nothing, though, was overly complicated. Warm up stretches tended to be pretty simple by their nature anyway.

"Okay." Now came the interesting part. "Have you done any kind of fighting at all? Even just playing around with friends or siblings?"

“Only the barest outskirts of the area.” His patrols haven’t led him there yet, and while he’s been systematically exploring on his own, he still hasn’t made it into the quadrant proper.

He follows Kieth’s gaze to the gate, turning to face it more fully. He gives a little wave to the camera posted there— hopefully that should be enough to get the thing open and get them on their way.

“Yourself?”

Marinette rolled her shoulders a bit, stretching- stopping short at Keith's question. Urrgh. This... is definitely the part she hated most about being a 'superhero. Having to lie to friends. "Oh.. no no, nothing like that. I'm an only child, and I've never really roughhoused with my classmates. The most I've done is ..well, I ran track a little."

Yeeeeeeeeah... Sorry Keith, if it helps, she feels bad about lying.
