[It's something of a favor really that Lucretia picks up the puppy. He's been tangling up in people and things all day and at least in this moment she doesn't have to watch him as carefully.]

In space?

[Bryn perks up, curious.]

What brought you all the way out there?

[scholiast]

Well, I– we went out there for a mission, my crew and I.

(The puppy is very wriggly. She's trying to be serious about this, but she keeps sniggering when Qiri licks her chin.)

It's kind of a long story.

[inlaid]

[Bryn knows all about missions, and the long stories that come with them. Pursing her lips together to bite back at laugh at Qiri's antics, she gives a little shrug.]

I have time for long stories whenever you feel like sharing. Got a few of my own, though they're all land-bound so I'm not sure how exciting they'd be to you compared to your adventures in space.

[Stepping in, she tries to divert some of Qiri's attention by petting his head, to give Lucretia a moment without being incessantly kissed by the puppy.]

[scholiast]

No, I'd really like to hear your stories sometime.

(She smiles gratefully as Bryn shifts Qiri's attention, turning her head to the side to give herself a bit more of a reprieve.)

All of mine are– I don't know, more or less the same beginning middle and end. Just in different locations, that's all. So I think yours will be plenty, if not more interesting.

[inlaid]

I don't think we're going to agree about who's stories are more interesting until we start telling some.

Want to find somewhere to sit and have a coffee or something? There are a few dog-friendly cafes around here, last I checked.

[She pauses a beat.]

Or another day, of course. Don't know where you're heading now, don't want to keep you if you've got somewhere to be.

[scholiast]

True. (She chuckles, and gives Qiri another loose little hug before she kneels to pop him back on the ground. What a good dog.)

I'd like that a lot. I'm– (she shrugs, awkwardly.) I'm actually on my way out of here. I think I've had enough noise for one day.

[inlaid]

[Qiri trots up to Bryn's feet and gives her a smile that only dogs are capable of, looking up at her with a little tail wag as if to say "Isn't this so much fun?"

She grins back down at the dog before looking back to Lucretia.]

I know that feeling. So, cafe today or cafe another day then?

[She's not actually sure whether the woman intends to go home or if she's agreeing to have a coffee with her now. Oops. Usually Bryn's pretty good at reading people but in this case she doesn't want to make an assumption.]

[scholiast]

Oh, cafe another day if you don't mind? I know it's boring of me but I'm so tired.

(She grins, sheepish.) Big loud events like this aren't really my thing. But I would really like to go to a cafe with you another time, Bryn. It sounds like fun.

[inlaid]

No problem. I thought that might be the case I just wanted to be clear.

[Getting a better grip on Qiri's leash, she offers Lucretia a little wave.]

(She smiles to Bryn, and gives Qiri a little wave too before she departs. Dogs are so good.)
