I honestly can't imagine my life without either. Magic is such an integral part of day to day life in Askoupur. It would be like trying to live your life with only the sun or the moons. And marriages for poly relationships...well, I was raised by a mother and two fathers. Just doesn't make sense to me that a country couldn't recognize that relationships takes all forms. At least it's not galaxy wide I suppose...
[But again, it seems rather limiting. Perhaps it's good at least that the relationships are accepted, but what happens when one of the people in the relationship gets sick and only one of them has legal rights to make medical decisions? What if only one of them is allowed in the hospital room?]
Nothing wrong with monogamy of course. The way you and Leonard are, you strike me as one man sort of men, yes?

[ And really, there's so much about Earth he loves. So much about all the worlds, all the planets and the space in-between he's come to call home. Not all of it's perfect, not by a long shot, but sometimes, standing on the bridge or looking out of one of the observation decks, the stars and nebulae flickering and glowing in his gaze... well, it comes pretty close. ]
Guess it's a matter of what you've grown up with, and grown used to. [ He glances at Bryn, considering for a moment before he looks ahead with a smaller smile. ] I've never had a father. My mother was never around much, either. I'm sure I missed having that kind of... normal childhood at some point, but now I'm just glad I got to where I am.
[ Even if he misses having a father. The concept, anyway. Sometimes Pike comes to mind, when he thinks about that, but it's just one of those things that's easier to keep stored away at a corner of his mind.
He chuckles at her choice of words, shaking his head. ] Oh, I've never been a one person sort of man, believe me. Leonard is... a first, in that aspect. In a lot of aspects.
no subject
Then I suppose that makes you both lucky. To not only find mutual attraction and affection with each other but a willingness to explore things further even against your previous tendencies. Or his, as the case may be.
[Unlike during the party, Bryn manages to keep her tone from getting too wistful when speaking about them.]
He's certainly lucky to be with someone who will try to drag him like an expo like this. [She flashes him a smile as if to banish some of the heaviness of their conversation.] Something to be said for dating a person who's up for exploring all potential dynamics in a relationship.
no subject
Mine too, I guess. Just... in a different way.
[ While Bones isn't as experienced when it comes to more sexual aspects, Jim lacks the experience with regards to committed relationships, to the sort of emotional bond he now shares and has been exploring with Bones. Love, he'd dare say.
He chuckles a bit at that, nodding promptly in wholehearted agreement. ] Oh, absolutely. Not that I expected any less from Bones, although admittedly he doesn't often look like it. He's pretty open to new experiences— or maybe I just have that effect on him. Either way, you won't hear me complaining.
no subject
I was referring more to you but I'm glad to hear that it's the same in both directions.
[Taking a breath as she looks around them, Bryn finds her attention caught by a merchandise booth and wanders over that way to look through their wares. Jim's far from forgotten however, even as she idly picks up some of the items laid out with care.]
So, you've been here a little while now. Are your feet starting to itch, being grounded like this?
no subject
[ Knowing that they both take something from it, that they complete each other in aspects where they might've otherwise lacked. Well, not that it wasn't the case when they were just friends; Jim always tended to make Bones a little more adventurous, a little more of a risk-taker, no matter how much he complained his way through every crazy plan. Jim, on the other hand, has borrowed a lot of rationality and that sort of down-to-earth perspective that Bones often has. Not quite as emotionless as Spock aims to be either, so that's a plus. ]
A little, I'll admit... but I thought it would bother me more, you know? Being stuck with my feet on the ground. I feel... settled in. It's weird, but a good kind of weird. [ He knits his eyebrows, expression almost comical, as if what he's saying next is absurd. ] We're even thinking of getting our own place. Vegetable garden and all. I feel like it should weird me out, but it doesn't.
no subject
That sounds wonderful, honestly. I miss being on board our airships back home but I have to admit that it's been easier to settle into this city than I might have thought. Askoupurans are known for getting horribly homesick away from the country. Travel for a few months at a time is all well and good but any longer and most of us get pretty stir crazy.
[It's a wonder that she hasn't succumbed to some sort of drunken crying jag already, honestly. Perhaps because she's keeping busy it's that much easier not to miss home the way she ought to.]
If you're planning a vegetable garden, I don't suppose you'd be interested in having a chicken to go with it, would you?
no subject
Do you think that's part of the... appeal of this place? Like it just makes people feel welcome and settled? It's definitely strange, I'll give you that, but I honestly can't bring himself to mind much.
[ Maybe he's just enjoying his happiness here a little too much, and he wants to keep hold of it for as long as he possibly can. He might have some breakdown at one point or another, but he has a hard time imagining that happening while Bones is here with him. Bryn's always welcome to crash their place if and when she breaks down herself, though. Bones is excellent at curing hangovers, which is always a plus. ]
A chicken? [ He raises an eyebrow, then laughs. ] Why? Planning on getting us one as a housewarming gift?
no subject
Well, it seems to me that if you're dabbling in one aspect of farming you might find other parts as well. You could have fresh eggs for breakfast.
[Just saying.]
And it just so happens that I have a chicken you could take off my hands if you were interested.
[Taako drunkenly left it in her apartment one night when he was drunk. He won't be upset if she gives it away to someone who might end up with a better space for it.]
no subject
[ Not like she brought it up because she has that chicken or anything. The thought amuses Jim, really, but he has no idea how to tend to animals, especially a chicken. A dog would be easier, he thinks. Still, it's a nice offer, and it might be a nice addition, if a curious and strange one. ]
I'll ask Bones how he feels about it. I guess it also depends on what place we manage to find, but I'll let you know what we decide. Just... don't cook the chicken until then. [ Poor thing. ]
no subject
Oh, it was saved from the oven the day Taako drunkenly left it in my bathtub one night while I was sleep. I've been taking care of it for a few months now but you've seen my place. A dog is easy to manage but chickens aren't really great for apartments and having it in a separate place is a little troublesome.
[Plus, Qiri she can take with her out into the wild at some point once he's trained. The chicken? The chicken is an appetizer to the monsters out there.]
If he doesn't want it, don't worry about it. Just figured you might want some eggs to go with all the veggies.
no subject
[ Any other and that poor chicken would likely be long gone. Jim wouldn't have seen himself as the kind of guy who'd own a chicken, admittedly, but he's actually considering it now. ]
Oh, I'm sure he'll be fine with it. If not I can just bat my eyelashes and pout a little. Trust me, he can't say no to me.
[ Something Jim takes full advantage of. Whoops. ]
no subject
[She doesn't have to see him in a captain's chair to know that he's strong-willed also. A man of his own convictions. There hits a point where she's just come to recognize a few of the tell-tale signs in people, even when they're in another setting.]
Looks like there's a show starting at the stage over there soon. Want to check it out?
[The booths they've been passing have been interesting but there's something to be said for a live show. She knows, she's seen it in the face sof the audience as she's been on stage herself.]
no subject
[ She's right though, and he knows it. It's also probably a terrible thing that he's so aware of this skill he has, this nearly natural talent to talk people into just about anything he wants to. At least he doesn't use it for such terrible things anymore. Well, save for a few more dangerous and risky adventures every once in a while. ]
Sure, sounds like fun. Lead the way. [ He gestures towards the stage, waiting for her to start walking to keep up with her. ]
