[ It's true. His dad would not take it well. ]

I could use a hand. And I'm pretty good at not falling.

[He gets up, grabbing his six-pack and leading Jon over so he can get ready to teleport.]

I'm not giving you a beer, by the way, so don't ask.

[It's playful... and in all honesty he will give Jon one if he insists. It takes three jumps to get up onto the ledge, which winds up as he sits on the ledge, but... yeah, the view up here is pretty nice.]

[ Jon sticks his tongue out. ]

Beers are gross.

[ And he climbs easily, finding a nice spot on the ledge, swinging his legs happily. ]

Good kid, that was a test.

[He grins lazily, ruffing Jon's hair lightly as he leans back to watch the crowd.]

So, what's your dad do for work?

[supersweet]

[ Jon rests his head on his hands as he watches the crowd. ]

My dad's a reporter. He works for the Riverview News Network.

[smokedout]

[He nods slowly to that.]

I kinda had a job like that back home - I sold information.

[supersweet]

[ He blinks. ]

How do you buy information?

Do you not have the internet?

[smokedout]

Sure - but we're talking shit that you wouldn't want the general public shouldn't know about.

[He sort of gestures at his scars with a wry smile.]

Believe it or not, but I'm not someone who gets legal jobs real easily.

[supersweet]

Well . . . that's dumb. It shouldn't matter what you look like.

And they're cool!

[smokedout]

[He'd expected to just laugh off whatever response Jon had, but... actually, it feels really nice to get a compliment on his scars. And he ends up letting out a very heartfelt, genuine chuckle.]

Thanks... I don't hear that much.

[supersweet]

Then those people aren't good for you, Mr. Dodger. You should hang out with people who say that all the time.

[He reigns his laugh in, and... yeah, that's deep. He's just pulling Jon into another loose little hug.]

When you're older I might tell you what happened - but trust me, these aren't scars anyone should be proud of.

[ Jon doesn't get why scars would be something to be proud of. But Jon is rather invulnerable. He's never gotten scars. Neither has his father. ]

Well, even if you're not . . . it still hurt, right? So people shouldn't make that worse.
