[ She looks thoughtful at that; her life had been so tied up at home between MEKA missions and other appearances that it's entirely likely that she hasn't done anything like go on a date in... some time. Besides, she doesn't have time for scrubs. ]

I guess he was kinda cute...

And hey, what's the worst that could happen? If it's a bad date just make up some excuse to bail on his boring ass.

[The way she seems to consider the idea makes him wonder if she's the type of person who doesn't make a lot of time for this kind of thing, so he'll give her a gentle nudge.]

[ Okay— true. There's no harm in playing games, after all. She gives a laugh at his gentle nudge and playfully swats at him. ]

Okay, but if it is a bad date, you'd better be prepared to hear me complain about it, Taako.

[ There's a beat, and then: ] And... Thanks. For doing that with the float. I think I kinda needed it, actually.

[He waves away the thanks with a softer smile, not dismissive, but whatever reason she has for needing it, they don't need to get into that. Everyone's got their own shit going.]

Listen, I know we just met but I will absolutely be there with a bottle of wine if you wanna complain about crappy dates.

[That's how friendship works, right?]

[ She laughs at that, something light and carefree. ]

Wow, you are seriously gonna end up being my favorite person here, but I'm gonna need something sweeter and less classy than wine.

[ Hana tries very, very hard not to put too much thought into the fact that she'd just fired a shot at a person nor into the way her palms feel sweaty and hands shaky or the way it feels like it's harder to breathe all of a sudden.

But she's actively avoiding all of that, so much to the point that she almost misses that twitch of movement and what would have come after it, only now— the woman who would have been the victim of this situation was now all the more threatening. She has to shake herself out of the surprise and take a deep breath before she zones back in. But seriously?

What the hell. ]

Okay, seriously, you guys need to stop. Looks like you picked the wrong person to pick on, huh?

[distort]

[ The guy's friends look like they might agree with Hana, starting to back away nervously. The man in the spider's web looks very much like he might agree with Hana, as he scrabbles fruitlessly at the wire at his neck. Widowmaker smiles and pulls it tighter, listening to the wet gasps of pain as metal bites into flesh. ]

It does seem that way...

[ She should kill him. She hungers for it, for that little bright burst of light and life it would bring into her dreary landscape... but this man is no target of hers, and unnecessary kills in a civilian world promise nothing but headache. With a faint, nearly imperceptible sigh she releases him. He stumbles away, chocking and near to crying, and the whole lot of them take that as their cue to make a hasty getaway.

Widowmaker's pale eyes find Hana's, meanwhile, and she watches her impassively. ]

How brave, running into a fight of odds stacked against you. [ It doesn't sound like praise. This girl really is young, isn't she? ]

[ This—

Is definitely not how she envisioned this scenario would play out. Granted, there wasn't much time for envisioning at all, springing into the action the way that she did, but this is definitely not your run-of-the-mill crime-busting. And to that point: shit, was is she now, some sort of crime-fighting vigilante? What. What did she get herself into.

The situation is tense and Hana doesn't make a move, only that her eyes widen when she sees the woman tighten that wire around that man's neck, seeing the barest hint of blood starting to trickle, and her brow furrows and suddenly she's very, very unsure of who the real danger here is. This woman is clearly capable of defending herself, even hurting other people. So why the hell— Her lips part, trying to find that bravery, and she calls out, ]

Wait, don't—

[ before the man is released and the men make their due exit. But when they retreat, Hana doesn't put her gun away. Her arms drop back to her sides but she doesn't feel safe enough to put it away. Not after what she'd just seen.

And especially not after the woman says what she does. "Brave" is a word that Hana proudly wears. But not when it's said like that. It definitely isn't a compliment. Who does she think she is? ]

Better than what you were thinking. What the hell was that?

[distort]

An attempted robbery. I thought you might have guessed.

[ She says it smoothly. Her target has been released, and the predator in her drops back into its slumber, immediately disinterested. Widowmaker draws the grappling line back into its spool at her wrists, then checks her nails for any chips to the dark paint on them. ]

Really, you should have found assistance. If I were someone else, perhaps you only would have given them two targets for the evening.

[ Hana watches each and every one of Widowmaker's movements, knuckles turning white from her grip on her gun. They had just dispatched three criminals— and yet she couldn't shake the feeling that they weren't the real problem. She can feel her heart racing and her blood rushing at her cool detachment and Hana would like, very much, to punch that completely condescending attitude in the face. ]

You don't know anything about me. So stop talking to me like you do.

[ Hana was chewing dutifully on the sweet she had picked up as she listened to him. She could only assume that he must have been like her— one of the "displaced." He certainly didn't strike her as someone who's always lived here but it was a pleasant surprise to meet someone from an alternate reality who was also a pilot. She couldn't say that she'd been one "for quite a while," like he had, but she couldn't imagine herself being anything other than what she was now.

She leaned back in the bench a little, back against the alley wall, and drew one of her knees up to rest her chin on it as she looked at him. ]

What's it like, being a pilot in space? I've never been out to space before. Well— [ she chuckled. ] I have now, I guess.

[ Seeing as Quarantine was on a moon of an entirely different planet in an entirely different plane of reality, and all. ]

[Shiro definitely was one of the displaced, considering he had never seen this place before, even in their travels with Voltron. He had seen a lot of things, but not this. Though he did find something pleasant in finding another pilot here. He found himself wondering about the type of crafts she had in her world]

It's different than piloting in atmosphere. You don't have such things as wind resistance or weather to take into consideration. However, you also don't have resistance to slow down, turning can be harder, and there are much larger obstacles you could run into.

[He chuckled as he took a bite of the food that he had taken from the offered plates]

I don't know what it is, but this thing is really good. Also yeah, I guess you have been to space now. Even if you weren't quite expecting it.

I take it you don't do much piloting off world.

[ As he explained what it was like to pilot in space, Hana turned her head, still resting it on her knee, and stared ahead at the wall of the alley across from where they sat. She tried to imagine in her head as he spoke what that would be like, to move about in space and have to dodge things like asteroids and debris without being able to slow down or turn the way she knew she could in her own mech. There was a thoughtful look on her face before she looked back at him with a smile and reached out to grab another piece of food, this time from the savory plate. ]

I don't know what that is either, by the way. Couldn't hear the guy in the booth over the music but it looked good and now I know that it tastes good too!

[ At his assumption, though, she nodded. ]

Negative. Like I said, I'd never been to space and I just got here, like, not that long ago? I haven't gotten to pilot anything here yet.

[ She looked down at the food between her fingers, noting its appearance. ]

All the piloting I did back home was on just on Earth. Mostly just in my country.

[He was quiet for a few moments enjoying his snack while she looked thoughtfully at his explanation of how a ship would work in space. He had spent much of his teenage years learning about piloting both in the atmosphere and in space. He had even piloted a few missions even before the Kerberos mission where all of this had happened and he had ended up with the lions]

Well, you’ll have to point me to which one it was. I think Keith might enjoy this too.

[He knew the younger paladins would be looking forward to having real non-food goo food. He pulled his legs up to sit cross legged on the bench while she spoke. Having finished his snack, he reached over to take an item from the sweets plate. Like the other one, it was covered in powdered sugar, but he didn’t particularly care]

A shame that you haven’t had the chance to pilot here. Hopefully you’ll get to. Perhaps you’ll get the chance to pilot in the space while you are here.

[ She gave a little shrug of her shoulders before she popped the snack into her mouth, devouring it in effectively one gulp. Boot camp for the Perimeter Guard was going about as tiresome as one would expect a boot camp would be, even worse for the fact that this was the second time Hana's had to go through a boot camp in recent history, but no amount of her complaining and insisting she was a competent soldier would beat protocol. She hoped that after that she would get to pilot something. They did put her down as a Special Vehicle Operator, after all. ]

Guess that depends what the Perimeter Guard wants to do with me. Hopefully something exciting!

[ She drew her other knee up close, then, curling up on top of the bench. ]

You know Keith? The one that— [ she furrowed her brow and frowned at him and looked, generally, like an angry cat, ] looks like this a lot?

[ She gives a rather enthusiastic nod to his reaction. A part of her is thankful they assigned her to a position that, on a very basic level, isn't too different from what she's used to. Except that just about everything else about it, and about all of this, is so very different that she's honestly had some trouble wrapping her head around it. But all her answer shows is a young woman who's ready for duty. ]

Search & Rescue. Now c'mon, I need to get out of this heat!

[ She eases off of the car she had been standing on with a bit of a bunny hop, landing back onto the sidewalk beside Genji, whose very... cybernetic appearance is suddenly all the more intense and maybe even intimidating now that they're next to each other. And then without really thinking, she blurts out— ]

Wait, can you even drink?

Ah, so am I. So we are teammates as well, then. [ The smile is evident in his voice when he says it. He notes her tone; he often wonders what his life would be like if he was at all responsible or self aware at that age.

He gestures for her to follow him after she hops off of the car and was about to start to walk before she speaks again. And Genji can't help a little static-y sputter of a laugh.

Honestly, he preferred when people were blunt and didn't beat around the bush with their questions. ] Yes, I can. [ He reaches up and taps on his visor, the metallic thunk indicating it wasn't solid metal underneath. ] I do have a face, even though it's a little worse for wear.

[ A smile forms on her lips at the realization that she's going to be on the same team as he is; although they've only just met, it's a little comforting – not that she would ever admit it out loud – to know someone or at least know of someone in an entirely new environment like she suddenly is in.

She tilts her her head at his answer though, and her brows rise a little when she hears that metallic thunk, knowing well what it means. She admittedly didn't know much about Genji but - now she gets to find out, and that's pretty cool. She chuckles at his self-deprecating comment and waves a hand dismissively. ]

Aw, c'mon, I bet it looks just fine! And if not, well, I guess it's a good thing you have that visor.

[flowlikewater]

[ He gestures for her to follow him and puts his arms behind his back casually once they start to walk. Genji gives a quite little hum in response and nods. ] Well, I have yet to cause any children to run away screaming when I remove it so. [ The grin behind the visor is obvious. ] So I suppose that's a good sign.

[ He's glad he's reached a point where he can joke about it, at least. (He used to be so terribly vain... although he still is, a touch.) ]

[ Hana follows him dutifully, step for step, her own hands in the pockets of the jacket she's wearing. She can't help but laugh a little louder, brighter at that, and particularly at the mental image of children running away screaming from a cyborg ninja dude. ]

I dunno, kids can be pretty brave these days! But that's good to know, that way I won't have to censor your face or anything if we take selfies together.

Actually, no... I don't tend to eat a lot of spicy foods, but now that you mention it, I'll have to try it for myself.

[ She looks pretty much in bliss just imagining the aforementioned spicy & ice cream combo. ]

You definitely should! Only real winners can take the good stuff when it comes to spicy food. You'd better not wimp out on me.

I would never. [ His face remains as deadpan as ever, but Yuuto does place a hand on his chest in faux shock, as if offended by the very idea of wimping out. ] I'm a man—I could take anything on.
