This is not the Carnivale post. This is just a tribute.

Optional overflow post, since the Carnivale log has hit Captcha. If you don't mind Captcha, feel free to continue using the previous one, or put up a top-level on this one with links to your previous threads and continue here, free of being put to the robot test with every tag.

[Not the revenge type? He doesn't know how true that is, but it must have at least some weight to it if Stark isn't going for him right now. Maybe that's out of respect for Steve, maybe he really is a bigger man than that.

His shoulders hunch slightly, tension in every line of him.]

I know.

[It's wary. He's avoiding Steve, and he's pretty damn good at it, he can add Stark to the 'do not engage' list.]

[...right then. This does not gel at all with how Tony saw them interacting last, but it's also incredibly clear that Barnes is from some other point in the time line. And Tony can barely work out how he feels about all this let alone figure out what's going on between the two of them, so fine.

If Barnes wants to avoid him, Tony's not going to press the point. His eyes linger for the briefest second on the arm, and he almost opens his mouth to say something, then cuts himself off before he can even start.]

Fine. Enjoy the party.

[He catches that look to his arm, but he doesn't know what it's in aid of, it does make him tense a bit, though.]

I'm sorry about your parents. [It's not a help, but it needs to be said. Then, a bit quieter.] I'm sorry about them all.

[Abruptly, he turns away and begins to try and make his way through the crowd and away from Stark.]
