[closed] I took a chance to build a world of mine
who: Terra (
earthy), Yuuto Kurohane (
maskerading)
what: Roommates meeting and going out into the jungle to poke at monsters, as you do
when: June 17th or thereabouts
where: Communal housing (floor 10) + jungle
warnings: TBA, maybe some monster-related violence
[Terra doesn't just hang out around the apartment very often. Even a month ago, when things were a little less complicated and he was a little more comfortable, he wasn't one to lounge in front of the entertainment system or, you know, lie on his assigned bed and skim through the contents of his phone. (He has yet to even discover what all is on the strange communication device. What do you mean there's more to the network than just talking to other displaced people?)
Today, however, is one of those rare days he's off both his jobs and, after a lengthy training session in the early morning hours, he's spending some quality time out on floor ten's balcony.
He stands over a small table, a roll of paper spread out in front of him. One hand absently digs into a bag of salted cashews that's helping hold the paper down.
There's probably no mistaking the paper for anything other than a map, but it's rudimentary in its design, made up of a whole lot of scribbled notes and symbols and stick figure creatures. The crude monster drawings are circled in different colors, some red or black, others orange or blue or green. One monster isn't circled at all and it's that mark on the paper that has Terra's attention.
He pops a few cashews into his mouth and shifts his weight from one foot to the other, too deep in thought to notice if any roommates are around.]

He lets out a thoughtful hum. ]
Nature's a vast thing. It's probably impossible to get all of them.
[ If the wildlife here is as extensive as it is back home, that is. ]

[More like absolutely, really, what with the portal bringing in new monsters every so often, adding more and more species to this moon-world.]
I still think it's a good idea to learn about as many of them as possible, though. When you're out there, you want to know what you're up against. How you can fight a particular monster... If you can fight a particular monster...
[He crosses his arms over his chest and stares down at the map.]
They say you can catch some of them, too. Like a... you know, a pet? Only the monsters are also supposed to be able to help you fight...
[He's had no luck on the monster-catching front, either. Throwing the capture ball someone gave him at monsters has only produced a bunch of angry monsters so far. What could he possibly be doing wrong? Maybe the ball's defective?
Ah, bit of a tangent there. Terra looks to his new roommate.]
You do any monster fighting, Yuuto?

Once more, he makes a single nod as he listens to Terra's words. (Monster pets is an interesting tidbit, he has to admit—not that Yuuto plans to rush out and get one, but it leaves him wondering if some people around here have a monster in their house.) ]
Not me. We only have normal animals where I live. [ Which isn't much of a lie, but Yuuto isn't about to bring up the demons they slay within the Metaverse either. As far as anyone needs to know, he's just your average kid living in average Tokyo. Then, to move the subject off himself: ] But you sound like you do a lot of monster fighting yourself, huh?
