[closed] I took a chance to build a world of mine

who: Terra ([personal profile] earthy), Yuuto Kurohane ([personal profile] maskerading)
what: Roommates meeting and going out into the jungle to poke at monsters, as you do
when: June 17th or thereabouts
where: Communal housing (floor 10) + jungle
warnings: TBA, maybe some monster-related violence

[Terra doesn't just hang out around the apartment very often. Even a month ago, when things were a little less complicated and he was a little more comfortable, he wasn't one to lounge in front of the entertainment system or, you know, lie on his assigned bed and skim through the contents of his phone. (He has yet to even discover what all is on the strange communication device. What do you mean there's more to the network than just talking to other displaced people?)

Today, however, is one of those rare days he's off both his jobs and, after a lengthy training session in the early morning hours, he's spending some quality time out on floor ten's balcony.

He stands over a small table, a roll of paper spread out in front of him. One hand absently digs into a bag of salted cashews that's helping hold the paper down.

There's probably no mistaking the paper for anything other than a map, but it's rudimentary in its design, made up of a whole lot of scribbled notes and symbols and stick figure creatures. The crude monster drawings are circled in different colors, some red or black, others orange or blue or green. One monster isn't circled at all and it's that mark on the paper that has Terra's attention.

He pops a few cashews into his mouth and shifts his weight from one foot to the other, too deep in thought to notice if any roommates are around.]

[ Meanwhile, it's been a much lazier morning for Yuuto; with no jobs to currently attend, he isn't up and about (or even awake) as early as Terra is. At least he's awake and dressed before it gets too late in the morning, walking out of the bedroom in his usual getup of a button-up over a shirt and jeans. It's the very image of an ordinary teenager who doesn't stand out much.

It doesn't take him long at all to notice the door leading to the balcony is open, with said balcony already occupied. It's partly curiosity that brings Yuuto over, but he's yet to formally meet all his roommates as well, and it'd be rude to put that off for long. So he hangs by the doorjamb, lazily leaning against it, taking in what appears to be some intense studying over a crudely made map.

But he does speak up after a few moments: ]

Going over your next battle strategy?

[ Hello, nice to meet you. ]

Uh—

[ Oh, jeez. Mental note for next time: don't startle the guy eating cashews.

The slight commotion has Yuuto standing up straight now, debating grabbing a glass of water for him—but thankfully he gets his bearings together in a matter of moments. Okay, crisis averted. ]

Yuuto, [ he answers sheepishly; it wasn't his intention of scaring the guy, after all. ] I'll be staying on this floor for the time being.

[ Terra. He notes the name with a nod, and is more than willing to shift subjects back to the map. Brief introductions done with, Yuuto takes steps closer toward the table, peering over it from a closer perspective.

He lets out a thoughtful hum. ]

Nature's a vast thing. It's probably impossible to get all of them.

[ If the wildlife here is as extensive as it is back home, that is. ]

[ Keeping tabs only made sense; their team did likewise with the Shadows back home, only they had Futaba as their navigator, able to both detect the monsters' presence and sense just how powerful they might be. It dawns on Yuuto without her around, potential monster encounters in the future is going to take a lot more experimenting... And a lot more of the old fashioned way when it came to cataloging them, as evidenced by Terra's current methods.

Once more, he makes a single nod as he listens to Terra's words. (Monster pets is an interesting tidbit, he has to admit—not that Yuuto plans to rush out and get one, but it leaves him wondering if some people around here have a monster in their house.) ]

Not me. We only have normal animals where I live. [ Which isn't much of a lie, but Yuuto isn't about to bring up the demons they slay within the Metaverse either. As far as anyone needs to know, he's just your average kid living in average Tokyo. Then, to move the subject off himself: ] But you sound like you do a lot of monster fighting yourself, huh?
