[ open: may/june catchall ]
who: Loki + You
what: catchall stuff
when: Late May/Early June
where: Around
warnings: Nothing so far, but Loki is a dick so plz be warned. You're welcome to prose, but I'll be responding in brackets.
[ i - no hero ]
[ Loki loves chaos. He has no shame in that and his joy is unbridled as he reads his book during the ensuing fights, as harried citizens scream and run for their lives.
Well. He could do without the screaming. With a sigh, he sidesteps some random woman on the street as he shifts the book in his hands. What were those so-called heroes doing? Shouldn't they be all over this? How inefficient. Loki glances back. One of those creatures seem to have found her. And he'll be blamed for his inaction. From a distance, he casts a minor mirror illusion. Hopefully, she'll have enough senses to get up and run while the creatures tries to ponder the sudden appearance of his own reflection. With grim satisfaction, he turns back only to have another creature knock the book out of his hands. ]
Now that was rude.
[ His hand darts out for the creature's throat, letting the insidious cold seep out from his fingers, burning the creature from the inside. It chokes and crumple. His lips curl in distaste as he drops it. Now for his book . . . ]
[ ii - homesickness ]
[ Loki doesn't have much in the way of taste. He's not picky about food anymore and often skips meals regularly. In Asgard, meats and wines, beers and well laid tables were the staple, food wasted in its abundance. He hated it then and it still turns his stomach. Now, though, he wonders if there were different reasons it bothered him so. Some strange infernal chemistry at work in a body he barely understood. Still, the idea of looking over foods from different worlds. He listens attentively to the people ramble on. Feel free to bother him. ]
[ iii - wild card. ]
[ Loki can be found at the Gramarye Research Facility, doing magical experiments, the library with a large pile of books or Communal Housing, Floor 12. He would also be wandering the outskirts of Riverview and near the portal.
You're welcome to catch for any daily life shenanigans, plots orprijata gift giving ]
[ closed to Thor. ]
[ The existence of a magical spring had been the most engaging part of Loki's post. He hadn't expected much in terms of information. He only meant to lay the groundwork for dismissal. Treat him like a trickster, remove the trust and ultimately, ignore him. Loki finds he does his best work when he's invisible, as much as it niggles at his skin.
Unfortunately, the news spread quicker than he thought. Everyone was scrambling to find this spring. Which didn't leave much for a plan. Just Loki and his daggers out in the woods. He had survived worse in the dark, under the menacing light of Thanos. On his own. But the toll of fighting was heavy even when he succeeded with his prize: five vials to hold close.
Loki hisses as he stumbles back into the compound. Blood tricked down from a nasty cut on his forehead right down to his lips and he absently licks at it with a snarky grin. Thor wasn't the only one who enjoyed a good fight. Still, he wishes the blood from his head, trying to clear his vision. He hopes he can get back to his room or at least the labs unnoticed. Patching himself up from there should be easy. ]

[ Though he doesn't sound very put-upon. It's hard to make out Loki's moods. He seems quicksilver at best, easily slipping between one and another. Is he insulted? Is he annoyed? No one can fully tell unless Loki breaks character or chooses to do so. ]
But generally, the lore between gods and mortals have never been positive.
no subject
Most lore depicts it pretty awful. Though, the Egyptian gods were interestin'. More interested in takin' care of humanity. Cept maybe Set.
[Well, till this moment, all that had been children's stories. Not a reality.]
I've taken up a lot of your time though, you're probably hopin' I'll stop botherin' you by now.
no subject
If I thought so, I would make it clear.
no subject
[In his mind, it seems like a logical conclusion. God, he hates that word. But maybe he misses Spock a very tiny bit. Very small. Either way, he shakes his head and offers the other a small smile.]
I should probably go find something to eat though before I have to get back to the hospital. I could find something palatable here, but if you want to tag along I planned to make something back home.
[It's likely not the best move he's ever made. But he's not met anyone remarkably shady in Riverview. And honestly, they all have to look out for each other from what he's noticed. So making the offer really doesn't seem so awful to him.]
no subject
( Or what Loki might do. Will do. Can do. )
And yet the odd feeling persists. Who invites Loki anywhere? ]
Should I?
no subject
[McCoy isn't one to smile a lot. Not the full warm and welcoming way he does for Jim or his daughter. But he gives Loki a genuine smile free of sarcasm or edge in anything other than friendliness.]
'Sides, I make a pretty good pot of coffee and have an apple pie I made. So if you wanna give it a try, I'm game.
no subject
Very well. I shall try this coffee and apple pie.
no subject
Good. Hopefully you'll find you like both and my ma's recipe won't let me down.
[He waits for Loki to join him before heading back to the housing building with a gait long affected by being in Starfleet. Honestly, it's nice to find company. Especially on days when Jim was gone for the greater part of the day or even more than one day in a row. If anything cause he got tired of being in the quiet.]
Did you want lunch as well? Or does dessert seem like enough?
no subject
It should suffice. I rarely need much sustenance and have gotten used to that.
no subject
[He smiles to himself and leads the other up into his and Jim's shared rooms and waves a hand to the table.]
Make yourself at home. I'll get that coffee made and bring you some pie. Less you want to stand in the kitchen and talk as I work. Both work really.
no subject
Should I . . . do something?
no subject
It's rude to ask a guest to do anything. So just make yourself comfortable and don't worry. How do you like your coffee by the way? Any preference?
[The doctor puts a slice of pie on the plate before moving to make himself a salad for lunch before he has to get back to the hospital for his shift. Given enough time, he'll likely also get a slice of pie. After all, he just made it as a test run for later when he planned to make a few as gifts.]
Did you come here with anyone from back home for you? If you don't mind me askin' of course.
no subject
[ He's passingly familiar with coffee, at least. There's so much of Midgard he doesn't know and the learning curve is large. But Loki will breach it in no time. After some thought, Loki pulls up a chair, folding his hands on his lap. At McCoy's question, his brow furrows before Loki answers. ]
My brother Thor. And I suppose a few others from my universe, though I have yet to make their acquaintance.
no subject
[He never likes to mess with his coffee. Leave it as is and drink it as it was ended. At least that's how he feels about it. Moving the plate to the table for Loki, he sets a fork on the table beside it and smiles just a touch for him before returning to the coffee pot that is finishing up its job. Pouring a mug, he moves it to the table before finishing up his own food and moving it to the table.
Settling across from him, he tips his head to the food.] If you need anything else, just let me know.
So your brother is Thor? Not quite how the myths went, but I can see that. Not met him, but he was kinda written none too bright in the stories. Guessin' that's a bunch of malarkey, right?
no subject
I do not know what this "malarkey" is, but Thor has his moments, I suppose.
[ It's grudging. Thor did manage to perceive his illusions of late. Credit is given when it's due. ]
no subject
Sorry, lot of back home in how I talk. It's basically sayin' something is made up or ridiculous I s'pose. But I'm guessin' him bein' smarter than he is in the stories is a good thing. I always wondered if it was just some joke people pushed into the stories to fluff up the myth that all strong people were brainless.
[It's more a thought. He'd really never been fond of Thor in the stories for that reason. He was very crass and brutish and not so much 'likeable'. But then, neither had Odin.] Is the coffee too hot? You could let it set and cool a bit if you like? I can get water instead.
no subject
[ His reply is hasty and a little sharp. Loki nearly bites his tongue off, annoyed with himself. Careless! ]
It will do. As I said, I am not particular about my food and drink.
no subject
So instead, he just offered a light smile and the lift of a shoulder.] Suit yourself, just a suggestion. Just remember, guests are meant to be taken care of, so if you need anything I can actually pull off, I will give it my best shot.
no subject
I do not . . . require anything, but your . . . offer has been noted.
As for the myths, they are stories I brought to Earth long ago. But I preferred not to give a straight answer so how they were interpreted remained with mankind.
no subject
Yeah, humans are bad about only hearing what they way want rather than what is. Though, it is interesting. So, did Thor really dress up like Freyja and pretend to be her? That story always amused me.
[So did the stories about Loki's strange ways of saving them from silly situations they seemed to like gettin' themselves into.]
no subject
He didn't quite have the hips and temperament for it, but he certainly gave it a try.
no subject
[The doctor has to laugh. His eyes lighting up as he ducks his head.]
'Fraid I won't be able to meet your brother with a straight face now. If even half the things you did to solve problems are true, I am impressed. I always found your stories the most interestin'.
no subject
Obviously. I'm the only one with any kind of creativity in Asgard.
no subject
[He tipped his head to the pie and smiled just a little.] Did you want to try it? If you want, I have some ice cream I can add to it? Lotta people like it that way.
no subject
[ Loki cuts a tiny part of the pie with his fork, looking it over. After coming to a silent decision, he speaks. ]
I've spent a great deal of time with little to no food. As such, I've become accustomed to eating what is necessary and not for pleasure. My . . . apathy is not a reflection of your skills or manners.
