[ open: may/june catchall ]

who: Loki + You
what: catchall stuff
when: Late May/Early June
where: Around
warnings: Nothing so far, but Loki is a dick so plz be warned. You're welcome to prose, but I'll be responding in brackets.

[ i - no hero ]

[ Loki loves chaos. He has no shame in that and his joy is unbridled as he reads his book during the ensuing fights, as harried citizens scream and run for their lives.

Well. He could do without the screaming. With a sigh, he sidesteps some random woman on the street as he shifts the book in his hands. What were those so-called heroes doing? Shouldn't they be all over this? How inefficient. Loki glances back. One of those creatures seem to have found her. And he'll be blamed for his inaction. From a distance, he casts a minor mirror illusion. Hopefully, she'll have enough senses to get up and run while the creatures tries to ponder the sudden appearance of his own reflection. With grim satisfaction, he turns back only to have another creature knock the book out of his hands. ]

Now that was rude.

[ His hand darts out for the creature's throat, letting the insidious cold seep out from his fingers, burning the creature from the inside. It chokes and crumple. His lips curl in distaste as he drops it. Now for his book . . . ]

[ ii - homesickness ]

[ Loki doesn't have much in the way of taste. He's not picky about food anymore and often skips meals regularly. In Asgard, meats and wines, beers and well laid tables were the staple, food wasted in its abundance. He hated it then and it still turns his stomach. Now, though, he wonders if there were different reasons it bothered him so. Some strange infernal chemistry at work in a body he barely understood. Still, the idea of looking over foods from different worlds. He listens attentively to the people ramble on. Feel free to bother him. ]

[ iii - wild card. ]

[ Loki can be found at the Gramarye Research Facility, doing magical experiments, the library with a large pile of books or Communal Housing, Floor 12. He would also be wandering the outskirts of Riverview and near the portal.

You're welcome to catch for any daily life shenanigans, plots or prijata gift giving ]

[ closed to Thor. ]

[ The existence of a magical spring had been the most engaging part of Loki's post. He hadn't expected much in terms of information. He only meant to lay the groundwork for dismissal. Treat him like a trickster, remove the trust and ultimately, ignore him. Loki finds he does his best work when he's invisible, as much as it niggles at his skin.

Unfortunately, the news spread quicker than he thought. Everyone was scrambling to find this spring. Which didn't leave much for a plan. Just Loki and his daggers out in the woods. He had survived worse in the dark, under the menacing light of Thanos. On his own. But the toll of fighting was heavy even when he succeeded with his prize: five vials to hold close.

Loki hisses as he stumbles back into the compound. Blood tricked down from a nasty cut on his forehead right down to his lips and he absently licks at it with a snarky grin. Thor wasn't the only one who enjoyed a good fight. Still, he wishes the blood from his head, trying to clear his vision. He hopes he can get back to his room or at least the labs unnoticed. Patching himself up from there should be easy. ]

[Thor has heard a lot about the magical spring in the depths of the wood, though he's made no attempt to pursue it. He can see the value in the spring, to be sure, especially for people without regenerative powers. The risk, however, is high. There are monsters, selfish beings and the risk of over-dispensing the waters from the spring could have negative impacts they don't know about.

Considering the long-term impacts of your actions is exhausting.

In any case, he's keeping an eye on the surrounding area, listening for distress called and people in need. As part of Search and Rescue, it's his duty to haul back the many people who sustain injuries in their pursuit of knowledge and power. It's busy work, but it occupies his mind well enough. He only hesitates from his routine when an injured figure looks more and more familiar in his approach from the skies.

Thor drops downward in front of Loki as he makes his way into the compound, a frown knitted on his face as he looks upon him.]

Trouble so soon?

[He prefers make his own food, but sometimes working in a hospital makes that pretty difficult to manage. So today, he finds himself wandering out of the smell of medicine and antisceptic to strike out and find something worth while to eat.

He's got time. So when he's really not so impressed with most venues, he lets out a soft sigh. The doctor's about to turn about and head back to his apartment to just eat there when he notices another person in this fine mess without any choice of food either.]

Nothin' struck your fancy either? [Really, he's got time, so why not get to know someone knew? Especially if this place has to be home for now. He pauses a moment then asks curiously, hoping this person isn't against the idea of talkin' to a stranger.] Is there something you're lookin' for in particular or just not hungry?
legendary_hands: (Worried)

I love Loki, omg ;)

[personal profile] legendary_hands 2017-05-29 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[He can understand that for the most part. But he feels that maybe this gentleman means more than just being away from home for now. Likely even more than he is from Georgia when amongst the stars. So he considers it a moment before answering.]

Nothing quite ever emulates home. I was just thinkin' I'd rather be makin' food at home than buy out. [The doctor rubs at the back of his neck a moment then shrugs a little.] If you can't find what ya want, make it yourself. Or try. I'm not a horrible cook... what kind of food did you have back home that you miss?
legendary_hands: (Eh)

[personal profile] legendary_hands 2017-05-30 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like you come from royalty of some kind. Never really seen anything like that aside from movies and archive files.

[That and he's always mindful of never makin' too much or more than was needed with Jim around. Angling his head a bit, he slips down into the chair across from him and gives a slight nod at the idea of seafood and smiles a little.]

Gotta preference to how it's cooked? I've learned quite a few ways to prepare it, but it really comes down to the preference of the people eatin' it.

[He knows he could pull it off. Probably even figure out the planet wildlife and catch something fresh. But that's plans for a future dinner not current. Speakin' of...]

Sorry, forgot my manners... I'm Dr. Leonard McCoy. Probably strange someone offerin' somethin' like this.
legendary_hands: (Confused)

[personal profile] legendary_hands 2017-05-30 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I had to stamp down preference while in space... Replicator food is less than palatable.

[Reaching out, he takes the man's hand and gives it a firm handshake. Nothing too long or lingering, just a firm shake before nodding his head. Though he pauses a second at the name and places where he's heard it before.]

Bein' in a place like this where there is no tellin' who you might meet, I don't feel so ridiculous askin' this question. But is that the same as the ancient Norse god? Sorry if that's a presumptuous question.

[Back when he was young, he read the books and stories well enough to know some of it. And honestly, he also knows there is more to life than just stories and makin' any profound leaps in judgment was just ridiculous.]

In any case, it's a pleasure.
legendary_hands: (Go figure)

[personal profile] legendary_hands 2017-05-30 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Huh, new things everyday. I know all I know is just stories, maybe someday you can clear up for me what was myth and what is reality.

[If anything, he feels more curious than anything else. And well, the man (or god, rather), seems a polite enough sort. So before makin' any assumptions he sees no reason to treat him in any other way than bein' polite.]

I'm from the twenty-third century earth... bit hard to read all the texts since the third war destroyed a good deal of literature.
legendary_hands: (Eh)

[personal profile] legendary_hands 2017-05-30 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
S'pose. Never took those stories seriously. More just an interest as a kid. But I always did prefer to make my own judgments than rely on possibly misconstrued information.

[It really didn't bother him none. Given a similar situation, he'd rather just get to know someone than set them straight. Tellin' stories could get tiresome. Though, that particular question and comment drew his interest.]

That was the last on earth. Planet's been pretty peaceful and united since the forming of the Federation. Only wars we tend to get tangled up in comes from other planets that value empires and conquerin' and the like. Did seem endless before... guess earth finally done had enough.

That sounds like it can be mighty lonely gettin' to be that old. But you're right.. like a damn game of telephone.

[Glancing up at Loki, he angles his head a bit in thought before tapping his fingers on the table lightly. He wasn't so sure he should say anything, but they may be entirely different realities of course. Nero made sure that he realized that.]

Mind you, our realities are likely not the same. But we made first contact with another alien species and formed an alliance. With other friendly planets it was decided they would create a Federation to pursue peace and knowledge. Not that we always find those things, but that's the main goal.

Guess if you're from an older century of earth, that would be hard to believe.

Was easier not knowin'.. Not that stickin' your head in the sand works. Ignorance doesn't pay off nearly so much as people may believe.

[A shoulder lifts at that. It both helps and hinders. In the calamity of it all, it helped, in the asking of 'what if'? Well, let's just say that hurt a helluva lot more.]

Humans are strange creatures, I'll grant ya that. But there is something really amazin' about how they are so resilient. There's good and bad, sure, but that's true in any existence. Guess bein' a doctor makes me want to see reason for bein'...

[Waving it off, he threaded his fingers together on the table in front of him. Loki likely found whatever he had to say boring. No matter what century he was from, he was just a small country doctor following after a captain with a grand calling.]

Well, it's good you're not on your own. Sorry my prattlin' on is likely borin' you to death.
legendary_hands: (Considering)

[personal profile] legendary_hands 2017-05-30 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
[An age. It sounds like such a trifling thing to someone that lived so long. To him, it sounds long and lonely. Having to live through countless years of sorrow even with good moments. It's just never appealed to him to wish for long life. He was good with his lot in life.

His calling so to speak.]
When I was young, I didn't want to be a doctor. My dad was, figured that was enough doctor's in the family. Then I helped a girl that broke her arm fallin' out of a tree. I remember thinkin' in that moment that's what I was meant to do. Came natural as breathin'...

[He rolls the idea of existence around before tryin' to put it into the right words.] Life is precious. Whether short or long. As a doctor I treat the good and the bad, because my job isn't to judge who lives or dies, it's to preserve life. I can't say I've lived that life perfectly. I can fight for what I believe in, for people I care for... I'm a damn good doctor. I know it's what I was meant to be. And I guess it kinda guides me, sure.

[His eyes lift to Loki's and he arches his brow just a little as he speaks a little curiously.] In my experience, if someone asks me about existence, it's in part cause they don't know why they exist or why life exists. But that is probably just a human thing to be unsure of that.

That makes sense. It's hard to understand something you're not. Humans are fragile, but can be really... unique. Like those ridiculous Fabergé eggs. Worth a fortune, super fragile and damn pretty. People like them, but if you think about it, it makes no sense. Life is priceless, fragile, and beautiful. Guess it's a bit like art. You enjoy it while it lasts cause it's not something you can just replicate perfectly. Not with the same feelings and what not behind it.

[He ducks his head a little, a low chuckle leaving him as he shakes his head.] Guess that only makes sense to me.
legendary_hands: (Worried now)

[personal profile] legendary_hands 2017-05-31 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
But think about that as well. You compare humanity to the flicker and burn of a candle. Stars also burn hot and bright until they collapse in on themselves. Humanity has one set lifespan and they burn bright and sharp and hope that they'll be remembered. Art is just a medium.

[He knows he's getting too passionate 'bout this. That maybe he shouldn't speak so expressly, but honestly, he sort of gets it. From that outside perspective of longevity. Grain of sand in the hour glass and all that mess...]

Art is the product of someone that wants to be remembered. It's like... a shadow cast on life so they aren't forgotten. If that makes any sense. I tend to get ahead of myself.

You're right. Good and bad. Sadly there is no deciding factor. Anything with a right to choose... has a right to make bad choices.

[Not that he's not wishing that somehow some way people wouldn't make those bad choices, but he knows they will. They have. It's the price of free will. Letting out a soft sigh, he leans back in his seat and says in a lower softer tone.]

Forest fires are a damn tragedy... but the forest grows back stronger and more beautiful after. Just takes time.
