I. About Town

[Teddy can be seen at various places around Riverview, but he seems to favor heading out to the park, to the coffee shops. He even sniffs out all the best places to pick up comics and video games. He doesn't mind striking up a conversation while standing in line, or if a title of a comic or game really catches his attention.]

II. Hitting the Clubs

[After his experiences with the cultists? Sleep still isn't coming quite so easy and honestly, the loud music that plays in the clubs around Riverview is distracting and, in a way, a relaxing way to just not think. For the most part, Teddy can't get drunk, but he's legal to drink here and he at least can be seen socially carrying something in his hand or accepting drinks bought for him. Sometimes he can be seen out on the dance floors or just sitting back and people watching or making some conversation here and there.]

III. Training

[Whether it's at the gym or basketball court, or even taking an early morning jog around Riverview, Teddy can be seen out and around Riverview. He might not have a job that necessarily requires strength, and he might have some natural advantages that way, but training and pushing himself is something he genuinely enjoys. As crazy as his life has been since his arrival? He could use some normal.

Teddy might offer to spar with people here and there, although if he's clearly at an advantage, he's holding back. He might invite people to play against him in a game of basketball or offer to spot anyone who needs it in the gym.]

IV. The Incredible Hulkling

[Citizens of Riverview may see a large, green winged man in the skies or perched here and there, patrolling for people to help or handling whatever monsters may be around. Sometimes he's just large and green, on foot and tall enough to tower over most people. He doesn't mean harm though. If someone is bothering you, he'll step in to give a hand. If someone is up to no good, Hulkling is on the case.

He can also be seen leaving the city for some proper monster fighting. Again, sometimes punching things that might want to hurt innocent people is just good stress relief.]

[It wouldn't be an understatement to say that Breq is a little wary of large moving shapes in the sky after the pteranodon-like creatures of the last month started migrating over the city and trying to snatch people up on their way. So when she catches a glimpse of wings and green on the corner of a building, Breq's attention immediately snaps up. She's reaching into her coat for her gun before she notices the strange outline and stills, for the moment.]

What are you doing there?

[If she sounds tense at first, it's because she is. Sorry, Teddy, you're still in the threat category at the moment.]

[Teddy isn't generally too scared of guns... they sting and hurt, but they typically aren't deadly to him. You know, unless it's a crazy space gun, maybe.

Which it could be, but Teddy is quick to hold up a hand in a hopefully peaceful gesture before he lets himself slip from the building and glide the rest of the way to the ground.]

Hey-- sorry! Sorry! Don't shoot. Just-- looking around? [He honestly doesn't blame her for being suspicious though. Weird stuff happens around here...]

Keeping an eye on thing. I promise it's nothing sketchy.

[The fact that he responds coherently rather than startling off into flight decides Breq. Her hand comes out of her jacket and away from her crazy space gun, and her stance noticeably relaxes. She still steps back a little to keep a generous space between them.]

You're a vigilante type?

Yeah. Or I was back home at least... figured I should get into it here too.

[It's kind of hard to give up, after all.

He offers a sheepish grin after a moment.]

Didn't mean to scare you though.

[She waves off the concern with a brief hand gesture. Now that Teddy is on the same level as her, she looks him over with an unreadable expression. It takes her half a second to note the green skin, the wings, the slightly unusual blonde mop on top of it all.]

You're not the first. [Though the last one had been polite, after her initial wary reaction.] The citizen militia seems popular here.

[He's on the ground now, so it seems really-- pointless to have wings that just tend to get in the way. After he folds them in, they start to grow smaller before they shift away completely.]

I guess there are a lot of heroes, huh? And it's kind of hard to break the habit... [That and it's always just-- been important to Teddy.] I'm Hulkling, by the way.

[Probably better to give her that name than let everyone know his real one.]/small>

I guess they don't have them where you're from?

No. It would be a quick route to execution. [She pauses, amends the answer to something less grim.] Or reeducation. [That sounds so much better, doesn't it?]

Breq. [She does, at least, offer a polite bow, her expression not changing as the wings just fade away into his body, even though her attention lingers on it for a full second.]

It seems to be an organized effort, here. Do you work with the guard?

Oh-- [Wow. That all sounds very much not... better, or good in the slightest.] Sorry. That must have been a culture shock, winding up here...

[He shifts his weight, taking a few steps away from the building, a little bit closer to her.]

I do, yeah. Not really in an area that does a lot of fighting, but... I figure if it's in my own time, you know?

Somewhat, yes. [Probably an understatement.]

The community here is very active in its own regulation.

[Steve has been living within the Quarantine long enough to know that going beyond its walls is no laughing matter. They might have been able to clear a path between the main city and the abandoned one, opening up the amusement park and hot springs, but it had not been easy. He's faced monsters lurking in the forest that he's never seen before; some he would prefer to never see again. So, when Teddy had mentioned wanting to do some exploring beyond the city, he knew to come prepared.

While making a trip to the Perimeter Guard's armory he picks up a customary metal shield, and a hunting knife that he sheathes in his boot. Just in case. Then he makes his way to their agreed to meeting spot at the edge of the city. Upon seeing the teen, he only has one thing to ask.]

Are you sure about this? Things can get ugly out there And...[He inspects Teddy closer.] You didn't bring any weapons, did you? [Two things to ask.]

[He knows it's going to be dangerous, but-- compared to crazy cultists and collars? Compared to the disasters back home? He feels like he can sort of... manage a few wild creatures that happen to be aggressive. Besides, he's go Cap watching his back, right? They'll be fine.

He absently cracks his knuckles and gives Steve a wry smile.]

Definitely. If you are? I mean, I don't want to force you out if you're not sure...

[And honestly, not much can hurt him.] And nah, I don't need any. I'm my weapon. Just-- okay, don't freak, alright? I promise I'm totally in control and not hulking out.

[Because he's shifting into something larger and greener, and he knows what it looks like, but his skin is also a lot more armored this way. It's not as likely to be pierced by any creature that might try to sink teeth into him.]

It's just I'm a shapeshifter and a little extra armor can't be a bad idea out here, right?

[He snorts in response to the out that Teddy is trying to extend to him. He just wants to make doubly sure that the teen knows what to expect.]

You're not forcing me out. It's about time I got out beyond these walls anyways. [Under his own power and not because he's been kidnapped and snatched away against his will.]

I'm not going to freak ou--Did you just say hulk out?

[There's a mild glimpse of panic in his expression as Teddy begins to grow and turn green, but he tries to reassure himself that Teddy just said this is totally normal for him.

Once his appearance is finalized he understands what Teddy had meant. There is a vague resemblance to the Hulk: height, green skin, but otherwise they couldn't be more different. And the armored aspects of this new form do appear quite sturdy.]

Extra armor is never a bad idea. Especially when dealing with the monsters lurking out there.

So, are there any other surprises you want to show me before we head out?

[analienprince]

[He gives a sheepish grin, understanding Steve's initial panic, and holds up his hands in a pacifying gesture. See? No harm at all... well, not to Steve, at least.]

Um-- I can also grow wings and fly, if I need to? [But really, other than that?] Nothing else though. I'm not that impressive... I can just grow green and big and hit really hard. And take hits, especially now that there aren't suppressors around.

[Ugh, he's so glad to be rid of those, honestly...]

[He shakes his head, honestly astounded that Teddy would believe what he can do isn't impressive. If hitting things really hard isn't impressive then what Steve can do himself must seem so basic by comparison.]

It's more then impressive. Having a partner that turns big and green and lets loose on our opponents has been a huge benefit to me in the past.

The flying can come in handy too if we need to make a getaway.

[With that, he turns to the barrier doors and gets them open, revealing a path that leads into the trees.]

Is there anywhere you want to go in particular, or should we just let our feet do the walking?

[analienprince]

[Well, maybe-- a little impressive. Being able to hit things really hard has benefited him in the past, but he's not really Captain America.

Although he is out exploring with Captain America, which is still really cool.]

I think we can just let our feet do the walking, right? I mean-- hopefully we won't get hopelessly lost or something. Have you ventured out here that much?

A couple of times, usually with a group. I helped with clearing the path to the Abandoned City and clearing away all the overgrowth at the amusement park. There were a few monster encounters then as well. But that's a risk you face going in with a big group. Maybe we'll be lucky and get by under the radar.

[He sounds hopeful but really isn't betting on that. Some of these creatures have extremely acute senses that would be impossible to escape the notice of.]

I've brought a compass, just in case. But if all else fails you could always fly up and try to get a lock on our position. We shouldn't travel so far that the Quarantine is out of view from an aerial view.

Oh, wow... Really? It sounds like you have been busy. [He gives a wry smile.] We're probably not going to be that lucky, you know...

[Just saying...]

Yeah. If things get too bad, I can fly us out, no problem. But I mean-- I feel pretty good with Captain America on my side, especially when he's not suppressed.

[Ugh-- those things were a nightmare.]

popcorn and movies | for loki & billy;

[A little while after a night spent in, they managed to work out a night to all get together for a night of DVDs and just generally hanging out at the apartment Teddy shares with Billy and Tommy. He's-- well, tried to keep it as clean and homey feeling as possible. There's a large, comfortable couch big enough for the three of them sat in front of a large TV that has every possible game console that Teddy has managed to get his hands on hooked up. There's a few stacks of a variety of DVDs along with snacks and drinks for tonight, the lights are low... all-in-all, Teddy thinks it'll hopefully be a pleasant, cozy night. He even thought to put a blanket or two and some extra pillows out, just in case they want to get really comfortable.

After texting Billy and Loki the time to be there earlier, he's already half expecting them to have claimed their seats by the time he moves into the room with a bowl of fresh popcorn at the ready. It's not like they can't cheat and use the magic way after all.]

( even on a moon in a weird dimensional nexus of sorts, summer weather still sets in--making it a great time to sit inside and not roast outside in the heat. billy's--wearing a comfortable tee and shorts that go down to just passed his knees. it's a little too hot for pants, these are a nice close second. not quite inside clothes, but casual enough. and by the time teddy does leave the room to make his popcorn, billy's taking advantage of the still-clear couch to jump right in through the balcony's window and make himself comfortable taking up the entire large couch.

feet on one end, head resting against the arm of the other side. he'll scoot over, share if asked. but no one else is demanding room yet, so. )

Nicholas Cage!!

[ Loki arrives without warning, suddenly there from one moment to the next as he holds up an array of shitty blurays. Where he found Con Air is a mystery. He tosses it to Billy on the couch, pacing in front of the TV (the only movie getting played is the one he approves of) and doesn't apologise for any spilled popcorn. ]

Wicker Man sounds like a heinous tale of overacted lunacy, it has my vote.

Come on... you totally can't make comments about the amount of popcorn when you're taking up couch meant for three people at least. Scoot over, Kaplan, or we'll be forced to sit on you.

[And wouldn't that be unfortunate? He gives a bit of a grin as he puts the bowl of popcorn down, peering curiously at what Loki's brought.]

No way, you found Con Air here? [It's so old, he's gotta say he's a bit surprised...]

I don't know... it's hard to go wrong with either of those. [He gives Billy a quick look, addressing him:] What do you think?

( legs swing off the couch with a puff of his cheeks, sitting himself up in the middle of the cushions. plenty of room for loki and teddy on both sides. )

I'll go for Wicker Man. ( if loki wants to meme he won't object. they're not watching his favorites today so whatever!! )

Hand me the popcorn?

[ He sinks down to set up the movie, glancing over a shoulder at the snacks. ]

Do we have ice cream?

[While Loki gets the movie, he passes the popcorn to Billy.]

Sure. I think we've probably always go a healthy supply of that. What flavor?

( a handful of popcorn immediately gets shoveled into his mouth, legs crossing on the couch to hold the popcorn bowl on his lap and Con Air getting set on the back of the couch for later. )
