[ Dorian frowns, his expression scrunching up. ]

I just don't see the appeal.

[winscenario]

I guess it can be boring, if you don't drink or anything. [ He nods. ] There are some live music bars, though. Those are pretty nice if you like music. But we can just go for a walk, talk for a while, see what strikes our fancy.

[ Shrugging, he adds with a lopsided smile. ] If all else fails, we can go feed some birds?

[sentiences]

John just gets himself thrown out of bars.

[ Because John is terrible. ]

But we can try it.

[winscenario]

I promise you, I don't get thrown out of bars. [ A pause. ] Anymore. John's your partner, right?

[ Jim nods, happy to go along with whatever. He just wants a chance to talk to Dorian anyway, and get to know him better. The setting really isn't that important. ]

There are a lot of street stands and nice places to go sightseeing here, anyway. The Quarantine is small but pretty and welcoming. Plus, there's always nature and the abandoned city beyond the wall, if you ever get restless like me.

[sentiences]

He is. I usually go wherever he goes. Which leaves the locations we visit much to be desired.

[ Restless? Dorian doesn't know. He's never been restless. Right now Dorian feels a little pumped, a little lost. A lot of everything that he's never had to deal with before. ]

I guess I might try the parks. Other places.

[winscenario]

[ He chuckles. ] Alright, well... just gotta figure out what places you like, instead.

[ That is kind of what restlessness feels like, in a way. Dorian will likely notice it even more as time goes on and he starts to miss the excitement of his daily life. ]

Let's head to the park, then. Go from there. You can tell me a little about your world.

[ Dorian nods, watching Jim. ]

All right. But I don't think there's a lot to say.

[winscenario]

There's always a lot to say about other universes. [ Just because it all seems commonplace to someone used to it, it can be extraordinary to someone who's never seen it. Dorian comes from there, after all, and Jim finds him both extraordinary and fascinating, so. ]

What's it like, where you live? Are androids common there, or are you completely unique? I mean— I still think you're unique either way. You know what I mean.

[sentiences]

[ He blinks before smiling, a slow movement. ]

Androids or synthetics are mostly common with the police force. Though there are a few other areas in government that uses them, such as hospitals. Most of them don't come equipped with a synthetic soul.

[ Most being almost all. Meeting that one other android like Dorian had been a surprise — both pleasant and unpleasant. ]

[winscenario]

Ah. So you are one of a kind. [ Well, he would be either way. Even if there are others with synthetic souls, Jim guesses they each develop their own personalities. Much like everyone else, in a way. ]

I mean, you strike me as very unique. That's nice. [ He gestures towards Dorian. ] Would you say it's difficult, bonding with humans? I'm guessing you like your partner. Do you have other friends, too?

[sentiences]

Bonding is what I was built for.

[ Dorian has used lethal force as well — he's a cop and a robot programmed to do so in tense situations — but ultimately he knows he is there to connect, not just be a shield. ]

But no, I don't have friends of any kind.

[winscenario]

That's a shame.

[ And a waste, frankly, if bonding really was what he was built for. ]

Can I count? As a friend, I mean.

[sentiences]

[ Dorian blinks, his brow furrowing. He's not sure how it is a waste, but he doesn't push it. ]

I mean, if you want? Seems a little quick.

[winscenario]

[ He shrugs, pursing his lips. ]

What can I say? I make friends fast.

[ Not close friends or anything, but yeah, he is aware he doesn't waste much time. ]

[sentiences]

[ Dorian smiles. ]

I can't say I do the same.

[winscenario]

Oh, well. Different folks, different strokes.

[ Most people aren't as friendly as Jim, or as quick to befriend. It's never really put him off much before, and it doesn't now either. ]

Tell you what, let's call it... an optimistic attempt at friendship.

[sentiences]

[ Dorian's lips quirk upwards a tic. ]

All right. I can't complain.

[winscenario]

[ Jim grins happily, canting his head a little and leaning into Dorian's space. ]

Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship... [ Seriously he has to get that reference. ]

[sentiences]

[ Dorian does, easily. ]

[winscenario]

Very good. [ Jim nods slowly, pleased and impressed. ] Not a lot of people would've gotten that reference where I come from. I love old movies, though.

[sentiences]

[ Dorian smiles. ]

Well, I should be able to pick up any reference. I have a direct link to any and all information available.

[winscenario]

[ He narrows his eyes at Dorian, wagging a finger in his general direction. ]

That's definitely cheating, just so you know.

[sentiences]

[ Dorian looks completely straight-faced. ]

Is it? Me, robot. Me, not get it.

[winscenario]

[ And Jim has to struggle with the sudden urge to laugh, which probably shows in the strain to his voice as he manages to settle on a somewhat strangled chuckle. ]

You, robot. You, cheeky smartass. Me, not fall for it.

[sentiences]

[ Dorian shrugs. ]

It was worth a shot.
