Yeah. Being jaded is... honestly, I hope I never feel that way. I want every little thing in the universe to always amaze me.

[ Not that he's hopping around excitedly like a dog chasing a soap bubble, but. Dorian probably gets his meaning. ]

[ Dorian nods. For him, it's easy. It's all new so to speak. ]

[ Speaking of— ] So how much do you know about the moon so far? Anything you're curious about?

[sentiences]

[ Dorian shakes his head. ]

I got everything I needed from the network.

[winscenario]

Cheating, man. I'm telling you.

[ He shakes his head, chuckling. Then he gestures down the river. ]

You can see the wall down there, in the distance. I'm not sure if that's your thing, but if you ever want to check it out, there's plenty beyond it to see too.

[sentiences]

Maybe sometime soon. I'm not quite settled yet.

[ He may have all the information, but his behavior and mannerisms will need to adapt to this place. Adapt to the people who need him. ]

Open offer. If and when you feel like it.

[ Most people do, but there are some who don't want to set their feet outside the Quarantine. Jim doesn't judge them. It's not as friendly and peaceful out there. ]

[sentiences]

[ Dorian nods. ]

I know. I'm not . . . I'm not ready yet.

[ His voice wavers. Even with all the information, Dorian's place here is so vastly different that he's not quite sure where to begin. Or how. ]

That's alright. Some people never are.

[ The hesitance has him looking over Dorian's features more attentively. Jim cants his head a little, brow raising. ]

What's wrong?

[sentiences]

It's just — It's a lot. I've never been on my own, not really.

[winscenario]

You're not on your own. That is— I know what you mean, obviously. What I mean to say is that if you need anything, there's always someone around willing to help you out.

[ Case in point, getting himself a charging station. Generally speaking, people are pretty friendly and helpful around here. ]

[sentiences]

[ Dorian shakes his head. ]

It's not about being helped. Or need. It's . . . readjustment.

[ Jim nods slowly. ] I know what you mean. I had a bit of a tough time adjusting at first, too, even though I had someone else here with me.

[sentiences]

[ He blinks. ]

A friend from home?

[winscenario]

[ Lifting his eyes to Dorian, he looks away almost immediately after, nodding slowly. ]

Yes. Close friend. He was here with me for almost ten months.

[sentiences]

[ Dorian can feel there's more to it. ]

It feels like a missing limb, doesn't it?

Something like it.

[ Feels like a missing internal organ, more like. But he doesn't say that aloud. ]

[sentiences]

I'm sorry. A loss is a loss, wherever they may go.

[winscenario]

Thank you. [ He smiles. ] I had a tough time, but I'm doing better now.

[sentiences]

[ He smiles back. ]

I'm not surprised.

[winscenario]

That I had a tough time? [ He lets out a sigh. ] Yeah, it... helps a lot, having someone else here. But sometimes they leave, and it's just... it's hard to cope. Kinda like you forgot how to be on your own.

[sentiences]

[ Dorian nods slowly. ]

I've always had John around. Though I imagine he's enjoying his free time.

[ That's a little unfair, but Dorian can't help it. ]

It doesn't feel right.

[winscenario]

I'm sure he misses you. Maybe even going a little crazy looking for you.

[ That's what he likes to think about his crew anyway, for the short moments before guilt takes over. But realistically speaking he's well aware that they'll likely never even notice he was gone. Weird loopy time mechanics, man. ]

Yeah. It doesn't. But... we make do.

[sentiences]

[ Dorian glances at him. ]

Is that enough?

[winscenario]

Has to be. [ He shrugs, shoulders slumping with a quiet sigh. ] What other choice do I have?

[ It's not like he can force the portal to send him back, so. ]
