I don't know what you're talking about. There wasn't anything weird about it.
[ Okay, yeah, his fashion sense wasn't what anyone would call haute couture, but he didn't see anything wrong with it. Probably not the best time to mention that favourite jacket of his adulthood. ]
[He just chooses to be a brat with his brother. It was like when they were kids.
There's a long pause for a moment as he considers that. He had talked to Keith recently about his own life to try and give Keith advice, but he had talked about some of his own issues regarding his family]
[ In some ways, it almost felt like they were never apart. The way the teased back and forth with such ease made it seem like there weren't years of distance between them. It came as a relief to hear Lyle welcome him.
He tucked Haro under one arm and, mindful of Kara, slung the other around Lyle's shoulders. ]
[Lyle stepped forward a little more, shifting Kara to the side so the bird was safe from being squished in a hug. Granted he'd had Neil around before, but it always seemed like starting over again... because it was in a way. Neil didn't remember having been here before]
Good. Glad to hear that. So do you want the tour of the apartment?
[ In truth, he's relieved things are going so well. He always let himself think he'd done something that drove Lyle away. It was easier to deal with that thought than confront whatever the reality was. They'll have their disagreements, like any siblings, but for now, Neil's happy to actually have Lyle back in his life. Thanks for that, Quarantine. ]
[He's glad to have Neil back again as well and that its not a complete disaster having him back without remembering before. The eyepatch is a little hard, but he'll deal with it]
So this is the living room. Spacious isn't it.
[Kara chatters and flaps wanting down so Lyle puts the bird down. And as Kara waddles toward the kitchen looking for a snack...]
And if we follow the bird, we'll get to the kitchen.
[ A complete disaster was pretty much what Neil was expecting. It was always easier to assume the worst when it came to their relationship than to hope for the best. This may not be an ideal way to meet again, but it's certainly closer to a best case scenario than a worst. ]
[Lyle had always pretty much assumed that until he had known Neil the first time here. He had learned maybe neither of them were so far gone that they couldn't possibly forgive each other and of course because of that, he would try again.
So far seemed to be going well.
Speaking of which, Lyle is following the slow moving bird so he can show Neil to the kitchen]
Yeah, he is. He's been around here enough that he knows his way around. He knows where the food usually is, where his pool is.
[ Lockon followed, patiently. He wasn't about to hurry the bird and rush through time with Lyle. Maybe it was weird for Lyle, too, but it wasn't necessarily a bad kind of weird. Neil always thought of Celestial Being -- specifically, the crew of the Ptolemaios -- as a sort of surrogate family for the one he lost. While he loved them all dearly, it wasn't the same as having Lyle back in his life.
Don't worry, he's not going to get sappy... yet. ]
Is this where you've lived the whole time you've been here?
[When they got to the kitchen, Kara headed over to the dish that had the food. The kitchen was pretty self-explanatory. Nothing weird or crazy in there. He leaned against the counter, glancing at Kara before looking at Neil]
Yeah. Haven't been anywhere else. I mean, its not so bad. I've had the place to myself for a bit.
[ That's a little worrisome. Then again, Maybe Lyle likes being alone. Or maybe he doesn't spent a lot of time here other than sleep. Lockon's not sure he'd like living all alone after so long in close quarters with comrades. ]
Yeah, all by myself. Well, sort of. I've had Haro and Kara.
[Lyle didn't really spend a lot of time here, but at the same time, he was more reclusive than others. He liked having that option to just ignore the world existed for a while. So having the place to himself hadn't been all bad]
[ Lockon couldn't help laughing. That wasn't at all what he meant, but he was loath to push the conversation toward seriousness when this sort of comfortable banter was happening. ]
[Yeah he figured that's not what Neil meant, but jokes were easy sometimes. They made things better. He didn't really want that awkward seriousness to come back up either]
Yeah, it's a pretty cool job. And it's a job that helps protect people here. So... a win-win.
[He saw that flicker on Neil's face and then the comment about needing some practice. It kind of hurt. Even though he hadn't really wanted to admit it, when he had first been recruited he had aimed to be a good sniper like his brother.
Maybe now he needed to help Neil if he really did still want to try]
Yeah, we should do go sometime. Maybe get in some practice.

[He's had weird stuff too... but still]

[Since aquatic bird needed a pool]

Seems like it might be a little creepy at first.
no subject
Creepy, how? Oh you mean the ghost that lives in the closet? Nah, he's cool. We play poker sometimes.
[Congrats. Lyle is being a dork now]

Oh, well, you'll have to introduce me sometime.
no subject
Oh yeah of course. It's on my to do list.

[ Spacious, quiet. Plus Haro and Kara probably meant it wasn't too quiet or lonely. ]
So what is it you do here? For work and fun? What's something you'd say I have to do?
no subject
Me? I'm a special vehicles operator for the Perimeter Guard. I get to pilot the cool machines.
[Not like he hadn't been doing that for while already]
Fun? There's a shooting range. You should try it.

[ Something a little bittersweet flickered over his face, gone almost as quickly as it came. ]
Yeah, maybe I should. [ He tapped two fingers lightly to the eyepatch. ] I need some practice.

Don't go easy on me just because I'm half-blind, okay? Right now, I think you're the only person I'd want to practice with.

We'd better not tell Haro I'm going to be your new partner for a while.

I think that might be for the best. But I think he can hear you. He's like right there.
