It was hard to deal with loss. First it was Obi Wan, the one person who could help her with understanding what it meant to be a Jedi and help her understand the Force more. Then, it was Poe. Two different people who meant something to her. Though, she didn't know Obi Wan too well, she considered him a friend and the only link she had to figuring out what she needed to do. She wanted to become stronger, to be able to fight Kylo Ren if (or when) she was able to leave back to her world. It weighed heavily on her that she was supposed to go to Ahch-To to find Luke and bring him to the Resistance. They were counting on her, and she was....she was here.
For Poe, he was a friend and someone she took comfort from. Someone who came from her point in time, more or less, and knew what the Resistance was facing. He had said she had been here before, which didn't make sense to her...and now he was gone. She should've done more, contacted him and checked in on him to make sure he was okay. She tried telling herself that it was for the better, the Resistance needed their best pilot back.
Rey doesn't know how to deal with the loss in any other way other than to keep moving. To keep going forward and focus on a goal. She could figure out a way to train with the Force later, but she needs to be able to fight with a single blade. Fighting with a staff was easy, it came as second nature to her, but something like a sword or a lightsaber was different. So, she went to the training area of the Perimeter Guard to try and train. She went for a practice staff, practicing on a dummy first to warm up. Later, she would try to practice with a sword unless someone offers to spar with her instead....
For Alec/Jace:
When Rey got to the training grounds, she briefly shot a message over to Alec and Jace, letting them know she was already there. She had brought up the idea of sparring with Alec, something for him to take his mind off of things. He mentioned Jace, so it was decided they would all train together. It didn't matter to her who showed up first or if they came together. It would be interesting to train with either of them, considering from their world they were warriors. Plus, Jace was supposed to be great with training someone, especially when it came to handling a sword.
For now, she'd wait by the mat, her eyes scanning the room for any sign of them and looking down at her phone to see if they sent her a test.

And then Alec suggested he'd won their last sparring match and the smile disappeared even as he moved out onto the mat and started twirling the staff. "I don't recall that. When did you beat me?"
He tried to give it serious thought considering his memory was a bit faded in places. But losing to Alec would be a huge thing, he was sure he would remember that moment.
"I can show off regardless who goes first, but I believe the Mundanes have a saying: Ladies first?" Alec was right. His aim was terrible. Jace was more comfortable in close combat. "You can come play with our kittens, Rey."

"You could keep it for company." He hadn't realized how much he'd missed having a cat until he'd found their big ball of fluff. Rey might be more tolerant of certain feline traits than Izzy. Wait... "Do they have cats in your reality?" Rey might not know anything other than the basics about feline species and rounding up strays wasn't the best way to learn.
Stretching lazily, he smirked at Jace. "It was before we left New York. You wanted to spar on the beams but didn't realize I'd been practicing." It'd been a few fights with Downworlders, not their usual sparring sessions but Jace would think of that as the best way to practice. "Go ahead. I'll warm up while you two spar."

"I haven't seen a cat on Jakku, I mean...there could be cats in other planets." Really, she didn't know. But more importantly, "I don't think it would be a good idea for me to get a pet. If I leave....who will take care of it?"
She wasn't going to expect Alec to step in, nor did she want to abandon a creature she would come to care for. She knew what it was like to be left behind, and like hell she was going to do that to another creature.
"I do appreciate the offer, I might take you up on it," to play with the kittens, just something else for her to do to keep her mind off of things. But, now they could get to the real matter at hand. She had her practice staff in her hands and thought that would be a good way for her and Jace to gauge each other's abilities.
"Ready?" she asked, taking a stance and waited for him...and then immediately rush to try and hit his side.
