It was hard to deal with loss. First it was Obi Wan, the one person who could help her with understanding what it meant to be a Jedi and help her understand the Force more. Then, it was Poe. Two different people who meant something to her. Though, she didn't know Obi Wan too well, she considered him a friend and the only link she had to figuring out what she needed to do. She wanted to become stronger, to be able to fight Kylo Ren if (or when) she was able to leave back to her world. It weighed heavily on her that she was supposed to go to Ahch-To to find Luke and bring him to the Resistance. They were counting on her, and she was....she was here.

For Poe, he was a friend and someone she took comfort from. Someone who came from her point in time, more or less, and knew what the Resistance was facing. He had said she had been here before, which didn't make sense to her...and now he was gone. She should've done more, contacted him and checked in on him to make sure he was okay. She tried telling herself that it was for the better, the Resistance needed their best pilot back.

Rey doesn't know how to deal with the loss in any other way other than to keep moving. To keep going forward and focus on a goal. She could figure out a way to train with the Force later, but she needs to be able to fight with a single blade. Fighting with a staff was easy, it came as second nature to her, but something like a sword or a lightsaber was different. So, she went to the training area of the Perimeter Guard to try and train. She went for a practice staff, practicing on a dummy first to warm up. Later, she would try to practice with a sword unless someone offers to spar with her instead....

For Alec/Jace:

When Rey got to the training grounds, she briefly shot a message over to Alec and Jace, letting them know she was already there. She had brought up the idea of sparring with Alec, something for him to take his mind off of things. He mentioned Jace, so it was decided they would all train together. It didn't matter to her who showed up first or if they came together. It would be interesting to train with either of them, considering from their world they were warriors. Plus, Jace was supposed to be great with training someone, especially when it came to handling a sword.

For now, she'd wait by the mat, her eyes scanning the room for any sign of them and looking down at her phone to see if they sent her a test.

"Obviously. Even for exploratory purposes I'll need more people, but it's not an urgent need. I'd rather people take their time to make sure they really want to join." Not to mention he'd rather be sure of those people's skills too, before giving them any sort of autonomy within the unit. It had taken a lot of work, time and dedication to get the shuttle up and running, he wouldn't let anyone onto the pilot seat who might ruin that hard work.

"Sure I am," he cocked an eyebrow at her with a smile, as he settled in and strapped in on his seat. "What's the fun of watching from all the way back there?" It was a bit of an exaggeration. The other seats weren't that far back anyway, but it seemed a little silly for her to keep that much of a distance when it was just the two of them on the shuttle.

He fired up the engines, letting the main computer kick in and all the safety systems start working, and once she took her seat and buckled up, he flashed her a brief smile before reaching for the controls and getting the shuttle to move, hovering above ground slowly first, then piloting it towards the shuttle bay doors once they were completely opened, flying them out past the wall and towards the wide open wilderness beyond.

Jim at least was used to testing people's skills, to taking his pick from a number of candidates to see who was better suited for a certain post. Here it was a little more lax than choosing new crew members for the Enterprise, though. He just wanted to be sure that anyone sitting on that shuttle during a flight knew what they were doing.

He took them out a good distance, and well up in the air, as the trees below them got smaller and smaller. He set a course towards the abandoned city, which should make for a fairly quick flight, then turn towards the waterfalls and let her take a bit of control, just see what she could do with the shuttle.

Her quiet words got his attention, and he glanced at her, wondering for a moment whether he should acknowledge what she said, or simply ignore it. "He would," he said finally, his smile small and a little sad as he looked out the windshield. "He did. He never, uh... never got to see her finished, but we did take her for a few test flights while we were working on her. This wasn't all just me, there are... bits and pieces of him all over this ship. That means something."

To Jim, at least, it meant that Poe leaving didn't completely erase the memory of him being here. Jim would still remember him, and fondly too. He had no doubt other people would, as well. "I'm sorry, Rey. I know he was a friend of yours."
