who: Rey and You
what: Rey training and dealing with losing two people from her world. Not dealing with feelings
when: Mid day
where: Training area of Perimeter Guard.
warnings: None, will update as needed
It was hard to deal with loss. First it was Obi Wan, the one person who could help her with understanding what it meant to be a Jedi and help her understand the Force more. Then, it was Poe. Two different people who meant something to her. Though, she didn't know Obi Wan too well, she considered him a friend and the only link she had to figuring out what she needed to do. She wanted to become stronger, to be able to fight Kylo Ren if (or when) she was able to leave back to her world. It weighed heavily on her that she was supposed to go to Ahch-To to find Luke and bring him to the Resistance. They were counting on her, and she was....she was here.
For Poe, he was a friend and someone she took comfort from. Someone who came from her point in time, more or less, and knew what the Resistance was facing. He had said she had been here before, which didn't make sense to her...and now he was gone. She should've done more, contacted him and checked in on him to make sure he was okay. She tried telling herself that it was for the better, the Resistance needed their best pilot back.
Rey doesn't know how to deal with the loss in any other way other than to keep moving. To keep going forward and focus on a goal. She could figure out a way to train with the Force later, but she needs to be able to fight with a single blade. Fighting with a staff was easy, it came as second nature to her, but something like a sword or a lightsaber was different. So, she went to the training area of the Perimeter Guard to try and train. She went for a practice staff, practicing on a dummy first to warm up. Later, she would try to practice with a sword unless someone offers to spar with her instead....
For Alec/Jace:
When Rey got to the training grounds, she briefly shot a message over to Alec and Jace, letting them know she was already there. She had brought up the idea of sparring with Alec, something for him to take his mind off of things. He mentioned Jace, so it was decided they would all train together. It didn't matter to her who showed up first or if they came together. It would be interesting to train with either of them, considering from their world they were warriors. Plus, Jace was supposed to be great with training someone, especially when it came to handling a sword.
For now, she'd wait by the mat, her eyes scanning the room for any sign of them and looking down at her phone to see if they sent her a test.

Which is why she doesn't smile but nods in welcome, pushing open the door and stepping back to invite the other woman in when she sees it's Rey.
"Cassian's out right now." But he might show up, she doesn't know. It's his apartment, not hers, and he knows she's there talking to Rey. Maybe he'll give them privacy, maybe he will come back to make sure Jyn doesn't eat all the red sugar cookies (too late!), maybe he will come back to nap and ignore them. Loads of options and Jyn only mentions it so if he does come back, Rey won't be surprised.

"Oh, okay." It doesn't matter to her if Cassian is there or not. Though, technically it was his home, but Jyn was there, so she assumed it was okay for both of them to be there. Either way she held up her small bag of cookies, offering it to Jyn.
"Thought I should bring something." Don't ask her why she did it, she doesn't even know why herself. But it's an olive branch in the form of food.

Jyn will never say no to free food? Literally ever, even if she has to go to the beach to get it. She takes the cookies easily, peering into the bag before...
Shoving one into her mouth whole.
Heroic rebel daughter of an Imperial saboteur, but also she's basically a child when it comes to food, chewing thoughtfully but looking pleased by the taste and texture and chocolate, oh boy the chocolate. Rey might need to rein her in so Cassian can try at least one, because she's already digging in the bag for another without having finished the first one.
She does, at least, manage to lead them to the couch and sit down while she's chewing, but she does not manage to say anything else since her mouth is so full.

Hopefully Jyn would enjoy the cookie. The cream in the center could always be scrapped out, but the cookie part of it was good. The dark chocolate that is addictive and it's really hard to just stop at one cookie. She waits for any reaction from Jyn, and sure enough, she likes it.
Maybe she should try to stop the other woman from eating all of it. Cassian should deserve a chance to have at least one cookie...or maybe not. It's Jyn's present now, it's hers to do with as she pleases.
Rey follows Jyn to the couch and manages to sit down. It's...a bit awkward now. Through text, they could take their time to craft a reply, but in person it was a different story...
"What would you like to know?" Or maybe Rey could cut right to the chase.

(Which, by the way, delicious.)
"The Rebellion, it succeeds?" The Death Star goes down, the Empire goes down, she needs verbal confirmation that this is a fact. That the fighting that plagued her entire life is over.

Only to have the First Order rise up form the Empire's Ashes, but no need to get into that right now.
"The plans for the Death Star were communicated out to the Rebellion, and though it took time--I don't know how long--the Death Star was ultimately destroyed."

Someone was listening.
Someone in the fleet had received those plans and in turn someone had destroyed the Death Star. Their suicide mission had been worth every chance they'd used up, every chance that fleetingly felt wasted. One soldier with a sharp stick did win, though admittedly not that day.
"I don't think any of us actually believed we would be successful."
no subject
Maybe relief..maybe disbelief...maybe somewhere in between.
"You and your crew, defied the odds. You had hope, and you gave that hope back to the rest of the Rebellion." They stood a chance against the Death Star with those plans.

"I was--" She takes a deep breath, twisting an oreo over and over between her fingers. She doesn't want Rey to look at them like some mythical heroes, legends instead of people. "I was in prison, building the wall panels that they used for the Death Star." And that was an awful revelation when it came to her. "That's where they found me. None of us were good people, we did what we had to, to try to make up for our mistakes."
no subject
"..not all heroes started on a good path. You could've walked away at any moment, but you chose to follow through with your mission. You chose to see it through...that to me makes you a hero. Or if not that, then someone at least worth remembering."

Rey on the other hand is Good, like so good, and she's unknowingly cut off all Jyn's other avenues of proving they were all shitty people just doing what they had to.
"Alright." She's not going to thank Rey for something she doesn't think she personally deserves, but she'll stop fighting it, she'll give in. Rey can remember them, that'll be enough.
