It was hard to deal with loss. First it was Obi Wan, the one person who could help her with understanding what it meant to be a Jedi and help her understand the Force more. Then, it was Poe. Two different people who meant something to her. Though, she didn't know Obi Wan too well, she considered him a friend and the only link she had to figuring out what she needed to do. She wanted to become stronger, to be able to fight Kylo Ren if (or when) she was able to leave back to her world. It weighed heavily on her that she was supposed to go to Ahch-To to find Luke and bring him to the Resistance. They were counting on her, and she was....she was here.

For Poe, he was a friend and someone she took comfort from. Someone who came from her point in time, more or less, and knew what the Resistance was facing. He had said she had been here before, which didn't make sense to her...and now he was gone. She should've done more, contacted him and checked in on him to make sure he was okay. She tried telling herself that it was for the better, the Resistance needed their best pilot back.

Rey doesn't know how to deal with the loss in any other way other than to keep moving. To keep going forward and focus on a goal. She could figure out a way to train with the Force later, but she needs to be able to fight with a single blade. Fighting with a staff was easy, it came as second nature to her, but something like a sword or a lightsaber was different. So, she went to the training area of the Perimeter Guard to try and train. She went for a practice staff, practicing on a dummy first to warm up. Later, she would try to practice with a sword unless someone offers to spar with her instead....

For Alec/Jace:

When Rey got to the training grounds, she briefly shot a message over to Alec and Jace, letting them know she was already there. She had brought up the idea of sparring with Alec, something for him to take his mind off of things. He mentioned Jace, so it was decided they would all train together. It didn't matter to her who showed up first or if they came together. It would be interesting to train with either of them, considering from their world they were warriors. Plus, Jace was supposed to be great with training someone, especially when it came to handling a sword.

For now, she'd wait by the mat, her eyes scanning the room for any sign of them and looking down at her phone to see if they sent her a test.

As her movements become more fluid, Ivar is hard-pressed to keep up. It's not a lack of skill on his part, but rather an abundance of anger on her part that is allowing her to overpower him.

He manages to avoid the blow to his arm, but only barely. Ivar and Rey become locked in a stand-off, their swords being pushed back and forth, first one way, and then the other.

Eventually, she pushes back hard enough to overcome his blade. He overbalances as her sword gets pointed at him, falling right off the stool, and onto the floor with a loud Bump! He immediately sits back up. "That was good!" Ivar says enthusiastically Then he probes his legs, making sure that they didn't end up fractured from the fall.

He rolls up one of his pant legs far enough to take a look at his shin, talking to himself. "That's going to leave a bruise..." One of those nasty, knotty ones that turns about six different shades of colors before it heals right. Hopefully, that's all he has to deal with. This is the price he pays for being a warrior with a severe medical condition.

Ivar stares at her hand for a long moment. Usually, he'd just push her aside, and get back up on his own. But he just showed her his skills. She can't think of him as someone weak or pitiful after such a display, can she? He grabs her hand, leaning into it so that he can get up to his knees, and then back into his wheelchair.

"Don't apologize. You have anger that you channel. That's a great strength." He's looking at her with new eyes. He's used to strong women being able to fight back home, but going up against one, that was enough to get his blood stirring in a different way than usual. Strange. He would have to think on this further.

"My father always told me that anger was a gift. It gives you an edge against opponents that don't know how to use it properly." Ragnar had told his son that it made him unpredictable, and therefore, someone who was to feared in battle. It was the most sustainable of all his emotions, Ivar had found.

He picks up his sword from where it had fallen. He sheathes it by his side. "We must do this again. You're one of the few people here that know what they're doing." Any idiot could fire a gun. But to learn hand-to-hand combat, that took real skill.

"Okay." There's a genuine smile of happiness on his face. He'd never thought of himself as a teacher before. It was food for thought.

He had greatly enjoyed sparring with Rey. She learns fast and has a lot of power already behind her blows. She just needs to learn to refine what she knows, pick up some new techniques, and gain even more experience. The fact that he might have enjoyed spending time with her because she could both fight and looking very pretty didn't really surface in his mind, but if there was anything Ivar enjoyed, it was a person who knew how to fight.
