[open] comfort comes to those with faith in mysterious ways
who: Thor and open for people looking to train/garden
what: Thor extends an offer to help train people, desperately pleads for help with gardening
when: during or after the butterfly effect event, up to you guys (he's not changed).
where: The Gymiest place there is, Communal Housing
warnings: Violence? Sadgardian.
i. Training
[Thor allots time with everyone who takes interest in his offer to train together. Usually it's an early morning, but he's flexible depending on when Search and Rescue needs him. He locates a gym and arrives early, setting up with punching bags and make-shift, training weapons that resemble small, sturdy pool noodles. It's not easy to find a lot of swords here.
He's requested the ability to have a private room, away from sweaty people on treadmills, and the need is accommodated given both necessity and charm.
He's dressed casually. Sweatpants, a grey cotton shirt and his hair pulled back tight in a ponytail with a silver clasp that he rarely removes. Anyone who knows him as the glorious, cape-wearing god will probably be taken aback by the fact that he looks like a hippy gym teacher.
He'll be happy to see you when you arrive.]
ii. Gardening
[If you take Thor up on the offer to help him with gardening, he will gladly invite you to his communal housing room. He has a set up of various wilted plants in the sunlight of a window, gardening magazines strewn about.]

[ ii - feat. AU Loki ]
But there is one bond that did not falter. So he appears in Thor's room without an invite, a cheeky fairy-light grin on his face. ]
Oh my. You've certainly got your work cut out for you, brother.
no subject
The feeling is pretty much all but confirmed when Loki comes into his room smiling. He hasn't seen Loki smile so brightly or sincerely since he'd heckled him back on Asgard.
He looks bewildered, for a long moment, garden magazine open on his lap like he's been trying to fit in some study before his first guest.]
Hello to you too. [He flips the magazine shut and stands up.] The only work I have is to dispose of these before they rot.

What did you do to them? Hold Mjolnir and summon a storm over their poor heads?

But then, as the day went on, he kept scrolling back and rewatching at it. The wall and the perimeter guard do protect everyone, it's true. But they're not perfect. And it's not only the monsters out in the forest that Cisco is worried about. In his own experience, the most dangerous threats are the ones you don't realize are threats until it's too late. The ones that sneak up on you when there's no one around and no hope of help.
So, in a moment of blind impulsivity, he asks if Thor can meet at a particular time, and turns up to the agreed-upon spot at that time, looking distinctly uncomfortable. He's wearing workout clothes, his hair pulled back in a tiny bun. He stops at the door, almost bails. He probably would have, except that he'd texted in advance and Thor is waiting for him and in the end his desire not to be rude overcomes his anxiousness. ]
Hey, uh. I'm here for, um. The training?
no subject
Cisco is one of the first people Thor makes a time with, so he's extremely glad to see Cisco show up at the door. He smiles warmly, holding out a hand for a firm shake.]
Cisco. I'm very glad to see you. [When he pulls his hand away, he folds his arms over his chest.] Why don't we start by talking about your previous experiences? Have you done any sort of hand to hand combat before?
no subject
But Thor seems nice enough, though, and Cisco shakes his hand enthusiastically. ]
Um. No. Not really.
[ He's pretty sure that trying and failing to fight off bullies when he was in high school, and having a messy brawl with another nerd (back when Hartley had tried to run off) don't really count as hand to hand combat experience. ]
Total beginner. Total klutz too, so. You've really got your work cut out for you.

It was odd. If anything Tony would have thought Thor of all people would be great at gardening with his hippie tendencies or maybe there were enough differences between him and the man Tony knew to make that irrelevant. They didn't quite look the same, but it was close enough to make his identity unmistakeable.
He'd made his way back after reading that post, Thor would find him standing over the plants, idly thumbing through a gardening magazine, but it would probably be the Iron Man helmet he left in the lounge that would catch Thor's attention first. The armour was normally left in a pile in his locked room, but he'd been fiddling with it earlier.]
no subject
That said, he does notice the helmet in the lounge. He'd left his room to make a coffee and returned past the lounge, raising a brow at the remnants of Tony's work before he plods into his plant box to find the culprit standing over it.]
There's no need to take care. You cannot possibly do more damage than I have.
no subject
Oh I'm sure I could find a way.
[Tony looks like he's seen better days. His health had always been poor and he'd let it deteriorate further after the chalice had affected a portion of the population. He's putting on a brave face, but even looking at this Thor was difficult knowing his best friend was condemned to the Negative Zone with a world eating entity.]
Although what are your thoughts on a cyborg plant?

You're the one offering the training thing?
*She didn't have the monks, so she didn't have their tutelage in physical discipline. She'd memorized the meditation and dumb quiet stuff but she needed more.
She's certainly eager, for a small child asking someone twice her size for fighting tips.*
no subject
I am. [He says curtly, but he offers his hand for a shake.] Thor. Tell me about yourself and we can begin.
[He's just assuming she's 100% interested, here.]
no subject
*She takes his hand for a hearty shake, her hand is noticeably warm. Not on fire warm, but definitely warmer than most normal people.*
Um, I dunno, the monks I was with before being here made it sound like learning self control through fighting would be good for me. Also that it might keep me from breaking stuff in the Keep.
*Chandra stretched a little, she had the advantages of both youth and a youth spent running from the law and fighting wild animals with fire.*
Plus punching things is really good sometimes. When they deserve it.

i - After the butterfly effect
He certainly looks far more casual then Ivar would expect as he rolls into the room in his wheelchair. The Viking teen looks quite eager.]
I will have you know this is about the only thing that would motivate me to get up this early.
[Ivar is a natural night owl, prone to staying up late, and dozing in the middle of the day.]
no subject
I'm glad to hear it. [Thor chuckles, raising a punching pad as he approaches Ivar.]
I won't waste your time, then. Why not warm up by striking this as you would strike anyone trying to make you rise with the sun.
no subject
[Ivar greatly appreciated the presence of the gods here in Riverview. With so much being different than what he's used to, having a sense of familiarity from home was very important to the teenage Viking.
At Thor's suggestion, he punches the pad a few times with both fists. Ivar's stronger than most teens his age, due to a combination of training with weapons, and dragging himself around using only his arms his entire life.]
How's that?

She walks over to him, giving him a brief wave of greeting.]
Hey. Looks like you came prepared.
no worries, this is fine!
Yes, the classes had more interest than I had anticipated. I've been here more often than not.
[He chuckles, then extends a hand for her.] I do not recall if we introduced ourselves. I am Thor.

She enters the gym with a simple wave to the attendant and follows directions back to the private room. ]
Hey, [ she says in greeting. ] Thanks for meeting me.
no subject
The pleasure is mine. [He'll give her hand a firm shake if she offers lets him take her hand. If she doesn't, he'll drop his hand like nothing happened.]
How much experience do you have with hand-to-hand combat?
no subject
Quite a bit, but it's not my primary weapon. We're expected to defend ourselves if we get disarmed, or to be able to disarm someone else. Most of what I know is in that context. [ So she definitely has a lot of room for improvement, and she pretty much knows one style, the one taught in the Judge's academy-- extremely functional and suited to real-world applications, but also ruthless and direct. It's a little limiting from a strictly martial arts standpoint. ]

Morning. [ He smiles brightly at Thor as he looks around. ] Hope I didn't keep you waiting.

Belatedly, he folds his arms over his chest and clicks his tongue, then notes the tidings Clark has brought along with him.]
We can account for those few minutes later, I'm sure. [He tilts his head curiously.] Should I start with small talk before we begin? How have you been faring?

i - Thor is so popular
He feels awkward being in a gym. It has nothing to do with his transformation for once, and everything to do with his awkward high school years. He wasn't the most out of shape kid or anything, but he was almost unrelentingly mediocre at most physical fitness activities.]
Hey, uh, bud. [He really needs to find a workaround for not being able to pronounce people's names anymore.] How's things?
it's the hair and the muscles
Things are fine. [He retorts, casually, gesturing for Wikus to enter the room.]
I must say, I am not familiar with your race. You may surprise me, if we spar.
