Happy Halloween [ totally open ]
who: anyone ;
what: halloween party
when: October 31 - 6PM-11PM (or later~)
where: Element Nightclub
warnings: if needed - please post in individual threads.

Welcome to the Club
Outside of the club there's some decorations, but they remain minimal, so not to interfere with the glowing sign "Element" to let people know that this is the place to be. There's a bouncer, larger in stature, standing near the entrance of the club. He's there more to ensure that there's no trouble, rather than anything else. He's dressed as Frankenstein, to match the theme of the club's decorations. The only decorations outside, really are an array of neatly organized jack-o-lanterns with a variety of designs and shapes.
In the entranceway, there's fake cobwebs decorating the ceiling, and spiders and bugs decorating the entranceway and walls. Everything is neatly done. Perfectly organized, and details are definitely strongly considered in each and every step. This entranceway is quite dark, though. The only lighting is purple, turned down quite low so not to illuminate, but to keep it safe for people to walk through and get into the club.
The further one steps into the club, the more elaborate the decorations get. While it's still pretty dimly light, though there's more colorful lighting near the dancefloor.
There's so many things to see, including moving skeletons, thanks to a bit of magic courtesy of Nico. In parts of the room, there's ghostly figures in a variety of poses.
One of the corners is lit up completely with a blacklight, and there's some accessories near a shelf that glow in the blacklight.
Another of the corners is lit up a little more brightly, with curtains hanging and a camera. A photobooth with fun props, so that people can have fun capturing pictures of their costumes. Once they take pictures, they'll be given a ticket so that they can get the pictures taken the following day online.
In the center of the club, is the dance floor, off to the side - there's a bar, there's games, food tables, and all sorts of things to keep one entertained for the duration of the night.
Costumes are not required to enjoy the night, but they are certainly recommended and encouraged.

Dance Floor
The dance floor is more brightly lit than the rest of the club. The lights blink and strobe to the beat of the music. The music that is being played is a combination of remixes of songs from various horror movies, remixes of classic rock songs, and audience requests. The clear intention is to get people up, moving, and dancing. The music may be not quite so familiar to people who aren't from a more modern-day earth.
At the front of the dance floor, there's a platform where the DJ is working. Near it, there's a small table where people can write down requests for music that can be played later on in the evening. He's open to suggestions, since people from other worlds or times might want to hear something more familiar to them.
Towards the end of the night, he leaves the platform to participate in the party, and a playlist starts - featuring any music requested, as well as songs that he had picked out earlier in the month to be sure that he'd play for people to participate in.
The last few songs are definitely far less upbeat than the first, as it is meant to slow down the party, encourage people to leave, and get people to cool off from a night out.

Bar
The bar has red lighting above it. It's a long bar, and near one of the walls, opposite from the blacklight and photobooth. There's three bartenders. They're dressed as a vampire, zombie, and a werewolf. They seem happy and excited to be here. They're bouncing round, helping to serve guests as quickly as possible. The glasses come in a variety of designs for customer to get - depending on the drink they get.
The drinks themselves seem to be Halloween themed, with names like "Vampire Blood" and "Witch's Curse". There's both alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions of most of the drinks available to people to get.

Trick-or-Treat
The wall nearest to the entrance has several foods. All the food is finger food that people can pick up for themselves. So many different treats (and not really any tricks) to pick from. The treats seem to come from various places, as the people who prepared it are used to a variety of people eating the food. There seems to be something suitable for everyone who is attending.
Scattered among the foods are sweets that are particularly favored to Halloween. There's some caramel apples that can be found at the tables, as well as a variety of popcorns and other fun sweet treats.
There's two large bowls (one at either end of the tables) with a variety of sweets - from chocolates, hard candies, to gummies. Basically, if it is a Halloween favorite, it can be found there.
While the bar is always available to get drinks - there's options here for water bottles, and two punch bowls, one with a red concoction, which tastes like fruit punch, and the other is apple cider.

Relaxation & Games
There's so many options and places to hang out in the club. There's games in random spots hanging around - such as bobbing for applies, or pin the tail on the werewolf. Silly, fun things to do to keep people entertained when they're wanting to take a break from dancing.
Also, there's several places near the walls to sit and hang out next to the bar, and between the photobooth and blacklight - against the wall. Tables and with fun decorations, and centerpieces - jack-o-lanterns with lights inside, glowing a bright orange. The tablecloths are black and orange. The seating is comfortable.

Wildcard
If you have an idea of your own, please - feel free to go for it!
Questions? Concerns? Feel free to hit me up by sending a message, or on plurk

Otabek ; Hey Mr DJ
Through most of the night, Otabek can be found standing on the platform playing the role of DJ. He seems entirely focused and into the job that he's doing, too. He's keeping busy, and every time a request is filled, he makes sure to add it to his playlist. He's an expert at multi-tasking really. While he's working, he seems willing to talk, but only if caught with his headphones down. He's dressed as the Big Bad Wolf (one half of a couple's costume, clearly). Ripped up pants, a fur vest, a long sleeved shirt. A tail, ears, and if you happen to catch him smiling, there's a glimpse of fangs. The outfit is easy to move in and multi-task in, which was his main requirement for a costume. He's working fast and smoothly as he plays through songs for the night.
Periodically, he does take a break from his work through the night. He takes a break to spend some time talking to people as he moves out to the dance floor. During these times, he sets up a short playlist to cover his time off.
At the end of the night, he packs up most of his personal things in a small suitcase, and then sets up the club equipment to auto-play for the remainder of the night. He shifts out to the dancefloor at this time.
ii; trick or treat
Otabek spends one of his breaks shifting over to the food and getting himself a cup of cider. He tries random pieces of food. He seems unsure about a couple of things, but he still tries them. He makes a face when he doesn't seem to like something. He likes most of it, though. He's not a particularly picky eater, really.
He goes for a piece of candy, and picks it up, carefully considering it. He doesn't really eat sweets, but it's Halloween (and his birthday) so he might as well let himself have a couple of treats.
iii; misc
[ Otabek can be found also randomly at the bar or at the entrance of the club before the dancing portion of the night starts. Just hit me up if you'd like to catch him anywhere other than what I've started :) ! ]
ii
[ Re-L isn't typically a party atmosphere kind of girl, but if it meant supporting Otabek.. she can suck it up a little bit. Besides, being in this weird get up of pink and a blonde wig was basically like becoming another person, other than the fact she can't reduce her height and that alone is tell-tale enough of who she is. Add on tall heels to get that pointed toe look (look, it was Halloween, but she's very thorough and needed things to be accurate, for sure) and Re-L has equally sore feet as she does an appetite built up by the time she circles back to the candy and food offerings.
Drink in hand she plucks up things she's tried before and found agreeable before spotting Otabek breaking away from his post to try a few things, and shuffles closer - ]
Try these, too - [ Points to some kind of meat skewer that looks well marinated. ] - They're very good.
no subject
Good pick.
[ He nods, picking up a small piece of fried dough with powdered sugar. He had eaten it earlier and knew that it was sweet and good. ]
These are good, too. If you like sweets.
[ All he can think is that his coach would be really having quite a chat with him if he saw him eating like this here. ]
no subject
I know. I've had a few to balance out these drinks. [ Not that she's completely at a loss. She's smart enough to know ways to mitigate the effects of it, past her odd biology that seems to make it harder for her to achieve and keep that lovely, odd, buzzing feeling that takes away control. Not too much, of course, she can't be an absolute wreck, but...
Well, sometimes it was nice to let go. Even if she regretted it the next day. ]
Mmn.. I'm so-so on them, but I'm already ruining myself with food and drink tonight, so why not? [ It's easy enough to pick one up and pop it in her mouth, nodding as she takes in the fluffy, sweet flavor of it. ]
Not bad at all... [ She takes a moment to survey the crowd, leaning in a little so it's easier to talk. ]
You have a good crowd going. It seems people like the idea of it.
no subject
Thanks.
[ It sounds sincere. He's comfortable close to her in the space. She's earned that from him in the time they've spent talking and engaging with each other. ]
It was worth it.
[ His eyes light up for a moment when he says that. ]
It's why I like DJing. Thanks for coming.
no subject
I'm glad. If you're going to ruin your diet it might as well be worth it. The problem comes when you survive on beans for a few weeks and then everything becomes worth it for a little while. [ Her first few weeks on the Eluvio and the planet they'd been stranded on for a while come to mind. How many times had she ended up in the food districts with Carolina or Kirk eating herself sick, or going out to clubs and drinking herself silly? She'd been even younger than she already is, then, but the bit of wildness had been...
Freeing. For her gut and her age. ]
No problem. you got me your invitation first so the least I could do was show up. [ Besides, she likes Otabek better, and... well, she'd talked Kirk in to a couple's costume when she'd been soothing his fight with Bones with wine. ]
Just wait until you see Kirk - it's one of those thing you will hopefully only see once in your life.
no subject
[ As he says it, he pops another sweet into his mouth and eats it. He's not lying, either. He did manage his diet himself while at home, but if his coach saw him eating something he most definitely should not be eating... he was sure to let Otabek know. ]
Or any of the drinks.
[ He's only really usually letting himself drink when seasons end, and October is right in the middle of it. ]
I look forward to seeing it, then. Yuri's...dressed as Little Red Riding Hood.
[ Of course. To match his big bad wolf. ]
no subject
Good thing your coach and my doctor aren't here, then. [ She's rather happy about that development, even if she'll never actually say such a thing. Granted, before and even here in the Quarantine she'd been running around, doing a lot of tasks - on the Rabbit they had been for basic survival, and her exercise an extra to all her walking and carrying and gathering when they happened upon supplies. In the Quarantine.. well, she'd gone soft for a little while.
Now it was her typical busy work schedule, gym time when she could fit it, and even ice skating when her and Otabek's schedules managed to match up. Over all, her body is thanking her for the variety. ]
One night won't kill anything provided you're back to behaving afterward. A little bloat but.. who hasn't dealt with that once or twice? [ She thinks back to bajikan and all the eating and drinking she'd done there... and maybe only barely holds back on a little wince before, thankfully, Otabek brings up his boyfriend's costume. ]
Never heard of little red riding hood, actually. But I guess I'll know when I see him, hm?
no subject
Bloat? [ He is totally feigning offence. He's naturally experienced it sometimes. He's not perfect. It's how he learned what he can and can't eat on his own. ] I never.
[ Half smile. He glances around for a moment. ] You will. He...still looks like himself, of course. [ So. Still a pretty blonde. ] And Red Riding Hood is pretty straight forward. It is what it sounds like.
no subject
[ Two bottled up people somehow befriending each other seems to be all the right things in the universe, at least for the moment. Thankfully no one has tried to dig deeper about Daedalus, not even Jim, which keeps her very content in the moment. Daedalus, in a way, was like a fussy coach.
Just, you know, not coaching her in a sport. ]
Oh please. Even you perfect skaters have to get that. [ Re-L gives an over dramatic eye roll, though, really - she's not too bad off in that department herself. Might just be the virtue of being so damn long in general, to be fair. ]
Ah, well, straight forward helps. Though I suppose I might recognize him by the face anyway. [ She makes another little sarcastic motion, then - ]
Well, you know, I can't hide anyways. [ Makes a motion with her hand to indicate 'tall' - taking another scuff of her drink. ]
no subject
[ Slight smirk, but it shifts into a small smile, and he shakes his head. ]
I wish.
[ In the figure skating world, Otabek's far from ideal. Yuri? JJ? Yuuri? Viktor? All have body types suited to a skater. Otabek is bulky by comparison. He's broader than his competitors and he builds muscle easy. In any other sport? It would be a blessing. As a figure skater? It was something he had to be careful of. ]
But you...definitely can't hide.
[ She was even taller than normal thanks to her outfit of choice. ]
no subject
Granted, I'm not exactly a connoisseur. [ In the way that she's literally never seen competitive figure skating before in her life, at least. The way she sees it Otabek is pretty damn good, and she certainly wouldn't live up without a few years training, so.. close enough.
Re-L herself is simply genetically... different. Hence why she is so long and tall, though she's not about to try and explain what the hell a Proxy was and why someone had tried to make her from one. It's all a bit convoluted. ]
Well.. I can't normally either, so I thought why not just go ahead and make it even more obvious? All the people whining about the height of my heels when I'm already tall might as well eat it up while I'm giving it to them. [ There's a smirk there - she doesn't honestly care other than the repetitiveness of hearing that she's tall. Might as well put herself on an even if not greater playing field than the taller men here in the Quarantine and call it a night. ]
Besides, I hear that if Barbie was a real human she'd be tall. At least from what I was told.
no subject
I think so. Not that I have much experience with Barbie. [ That much is obvious. ]
Whining about your height in heels, though? [ He shrugs. Otabek's shorter than most of the skaters he competes against. So it's never really been a thing he's thought or cared about. ] Why?
i
And, of course, to fulfill her promise to Otabek to make it to his Halloween Party. She enjoys the music very much and she appreciates the way he's managed to mix requests together. She spends pretty much most of the evening out on the dance floor, so when he sets up the autoplay and makes it out, himself, she makes a point of finding him.
She's costumed in a witch hat and outfit when she approaches, waving enthusiastically and hoping he'll recognize her from their conversation on the network. She has to speak up a bit loudly because of the music playing. ]
Otabek! Hey! You did such a good job out there!
no subject
He returns the wave, small, calm, but clearly directed at her. He starts in her direction as well, until they meet so they can talk. ]
Thank you.
[ A small nod. He seems to be taking the compliment pretty earnestly. ]
I'm glad you like it. Everyone likes it.
[ Half-smile. ]
I've never really celebrated Halloween before so I had some help.
no subject
You had help? From who?
[ apparently she has not caught sight of the other half of this ensemble. ]
no subject
Well, there's a lot of employees at the clubs I work at.
[ He didn't want to force people to help him, so he asked. ]
And my boyfriend helped me setup.
[ Small smile. ]
But I'm the only DJ.
no subject
Ah.
...Damn.
Well, you win some, you lose some! The slight disappointment doesn't show at all on her face, though, and she just carries the conversation on. ]
I think you're doing a great job, so.
[ Then she smirks a little. Now that she knows Otabek has a boyfriend... ]
Your boyfriend did a really good job, too!
[ It's time to tease. ]
no subject
He always does. Yuri never does anything short of perfect.
[ And there he did it... But that's how he sees it. ]
I didn't want to keep him tied down, since I know that working up there with me isn't the most fun if you're not me.
no subject
Note to self, though - keep an eye out for this Yuri person. ]
I guess that's fair. I'd personally love to be up there, though, even if it's just to dance!
no subject
[ But he's definitely looking at it from the wrong perspective. He doesn't really think there's a ton of room to dance up there. Him and Yuri getting close like that is fine. He loves his job, really. But he doesn't know if it's as much to watch when you're having a hard time moving about to the music. ]
But there's not much room to dance between equipment and me moving around.
[ So he might as well go enjoy the party, right? ]
no subject
I guess you're right. Oh, speaking of your boyfriend—
[ She raises her arms, almost cheering. ]
Happy birthday!!
I saw someone say something about it on your network post about the party. Now that I think about it, that was definitely your boyfriend.
no subject
[ Otabek was purposely dodging this fact. It's not that he hates birthdays or celebrating things. It's just not important to him that people celebrate his. He's fine with just having the Halloween celebrations. He knows that he's going to have time alone with Yuri tonight, and honestly, that's all he'd possibly want. ]
I don't really celebrate.
[ Too much traveling, not much time with family until recently. He is okay with that. ]
So...I'm doing this instead.
[ Which he prefers. ]
