[ This is a mingle log, so everyone feel free to write up your own starters, or just vaguely list out things your character might be up to, so other people know how they'd encounter them and where/how to engage. Some ideas for Perimeter Guard stuff:

• studying maps and working on map expansion;
• compiling wild animal data, reading/writing reports, other boring paperwork stuff;
• checking weaponry and devices, making repairs, etc.;
• going beyond the wall for a bit of surveying and exploration;
• checking out the shuttle currently being repaired (only Poe and Jim would actually be able to take it out for a test flight of any kind, but feel free to poke either of us if you'd like to thread that out!).

We are given tasks to which we are suited, but there is little enjoyment to be found, save the satisfaction of a job done well.

[ There aren't many artists or musicians in Heven. ]

[ An observation, not a criticism by any means. He finds the differences in her world fascinating, actually. It's always interesting to see how different places and different cultures work, strange though they may seem to him. ]

How do you feel about this place, so far? Sounds like it's vastly different from what you're used to.

[ Angela nods. ] It is quite different from Heven, but much like Earth, or so I have found.

[ Thinking of Earth only reminds her that Sera is there waiting for her, which is a bittersweet memory. ]

Heaven? [ His brow raises in a sort of recognition. ] We have that place,where I'm from. I mean, it's nothing but a myth in my world, a belief that was part of an old religion, practically defunct by now. Wasn't aware a place with that name actually existed somewhere out there.

[hevenly]

You are from Earth, yes? [ She's making an assumption, but if Heaven is a religious myth for him, it's a fair bet. ] The Angels of Heven used to visit Earth when man was in its infancy, just as the gods of Asgard did. It is these visits which lead to Earth developing their myths and religions.

[ Jim nods. Seems to be a pretty popular place among the people here, so it's a safe assumption for her to make. ]

Really? Well, look at that. [ He huffs a chuckle, adding in a playful tone. ] So you're an Angel. That's... very fitting.

[hevenly]

I am no Angel.

[ That much has been made very clear to Angela, and so she must stress it to others. ]

I was born to the king and queen of Asgard, and stolen from them as an infant. I was raised among the Angels, but I was never one of them.

[winscenario]

[ Well, he was just trying to flatter her a little, but of course she wouldn't take it that way. Should've figured that much. ]

I'm sorry to hear. [ Even if he's not sure if she is. Would she rather have grown up among her own people, or is she grateful for what the Angels taught her? He can't tell. Angela thinks too differently from him, it's difficult to imagine what goes through her mind sometimes. ]

Did you ever go back? To Asgard. [ And did her parents even look for her? The curiosity is strong, but he doesn't ask out loud. ]

[hevenly]

Eventually, yes.

[ Though now she is exiled from Asgard and Heven both. It's a long story, but really, she's happier this way. ]

[winscenario]

Doesn't sound like it was a lot of fun.

[ Or maybe it's just that Angela doesn't like talking much, he's starting to realize. ]

It's not all it's chalked up to be, I think. Going back to the place where you come from.

[hevenly]

[ Angela could tell Kirk the story of how, when she returned to Asgard, she stole her infant sister and purged the evil possessing her in the flames of an ever-burning furnace, but she thinks perhaps that story might just confuse him further. ]

I have heard a saying, "Home is where the heart is." I find that to be as true as anything.

[winscenario]

[ That would indeed be quite the story, and it would still confuse him even though he has met so many unique and different people. Asgardians (and any associates) still throw him for a loop sometimes. ]

That we both agree on. [ He smiles. ] Even if sometimes it might take a while to find that home.
