[Open] Come away little light
who: Rey and OTA
what: Rey coming to the conclusion she would be here for sometime and CR building.
when: 9/16--9/20
where: Around town
warnings: None, will be updated as needed.
In the beginning, Rey was dead set on finding a way home. She wanted--no, needed to find a way back home. There were things she had to do. She had to find Luke, she had to give him his lightsaber and...hopefully, he would train her. Given her connection to the Force, she would need to be trained. There would come a time when she would face Kylo Ren again, and she had to be prepared, but now that she was stuck in this place. What would she do?
It had been a week or two since she came via portal to this place. A place that made no sense to her and one she wasn't willing to trust. Some viewed it as a second chance, a new home for themselves. While that was fine for them, she couldn't stay, but she couldn't leave either. Was this part of the Force? Obi-Wan said she had to learn to trust in it. The Force could be confusing, but there had to a be a reason behind it, right? Rey was contemplating that idea, letting it circle around in her head as she left the Communal Hall. If she was meant to be here, then maybe it was time for her to start looking for work?
She went into the city, her eyes flickering down to her phone every now and then. There were times when she was searching through it and the posts on the network, looking for answers..none came. If she was going to find work...what would she do? Jim had suggested she join the Perimeter Guard, but could she? She didn't exactly trust how things were being run here...but what other choice did she have?
Rey wasn't paying too much attention to where she was going until she stopped realizing she was at the park. She took a seat on a park bench and mentally ran through her options and what she would need to do to live in this new place.

"They shouldn't have done that. No one's family should be taken from them." Her tone is cold then, pushing back a memory that nearly came to the surface of her mind.
She wouldn't ask what made him different. It wasn't her place to know, and it would probably seem normal to her. She didn't need to know his personal business, not unless he wanted to share it himself. Either way, she felt bad that he was put into such a situation.
"In some aspects, this place is better than where I was..." No one having to work for portion. A store filled with food and not portion packets that have bland tasting food.
"But this isn't where I need to be..or at least, I don't think it is.." Who knows anymore what the Force had in store for her. She should stop fighting it, but she was a fighter. She wasn't willing to stop doing something unless it was on her own terms...but she really needed to figure her shit out because she was going to be stuck here for a while.

As he spoke, he realized that breaking the law might make him sound dangerous. "I married someone that they didn't approve of."
Gesturing at the bench, he silently asked if he could sit, waited for her to agree before moving. "Sometimes we don't realize what we need to learn or where we're supposed to be. I had my whole life planned. I assumed I knew where I was supposed to be. None of those plans included wars or love or having to fight to keep my family together. We don't really know what we need until we look back and realize what we've accomplished."

She nodded at him, scooting over for the young man to sit down. She had seen him playing with something in his hand. A ring?
"You married someone they don't approve of...and that's breaking a law?" Rey asked, making sure she understood what she just heard. That sounded cruel and harsh--possibly on par with the First Order. Then again, that was assuming anyone int eh First Order found love or happiness and lived long enough to get married.
"It's a stupid law.." she found herself saying, because really it was.
"I understand where you're coming...but.." There was more to what she needed to do. There was a war she was part of, but it was bigger--galactic level scale, but now that she was stuck here...
"It's confusing..very confusing. It'll take time, I guess, to get used to everything. I've had a lot on my mind." Really, she did, and whatever the Force wanted her to do was utterly confusing as well.

"They may not punish me for it, but they would punish others for it." Stripping the runes from someone who stopped an apocalypse and fought in two wars would be difficult to explain. "I agree. It's a stupid law. It's one reason why I prefer it here."
Although Alec didn't know where she needed to be, he did understand some of what she was going through. "It is confusing and it takes time to get used to change. I hated it when it happened to me. I thought it'd destroy everything but eventually it taught us all to be better. It might be that there's lessons you need to learn here before you go back home."

But, the Force or the Universe, thought something else.
"There are many lessons I need to learn, don't know which one will take precedence here." If Obi-Wan would still be willing to teach her, and if she would be able to make a life for herself here. Or if, all she'll be doing again will be waiting... Waiting for something to happen and prepare for when it does.
Maybe she just needed to do something else.
"Thanks though..for the talk. It's helping set things in perspective."

"Maybe those lessons are why you're here," he suggested, mostly thinking aloud. "Give you time to figure out what you need to learn and to learn it. If it's so important, then use the time to figure things out. I hated that kind of downtime, but it was needed. I don't think I would have been able to do everything that was necessary without it." He couldn't be sure if that was what was right for her, but it might be.
"You're welcome. I'm glad it helped. I'm Alec, by the way."
