[Open] Come away little light

who: Rey and OTA
what: Rey coming to the conclusion she would be here for sometime and CR building.
when: 9/16--9/20
where: Around town
warnings: None, will be updated as needed.

In the beginning, Rey was dead set on finding a way home. She wanted--no, needed to find a way back home. There were things she had to do. She had to find Luke, she had to give him his lightsaber and...hopefully, he would train her. Given her connection to the Force, she would need to be trained. There would come a time when she would face Kylo Ren again, and she had to be prepared, but now that she was stuck in this place. What would she do?

It had been a week or two since she came via portal to this place. A place that made no sense to her and one she wasn't willing to trust. Some viewed it as a second chance, a new home for themselves. While that was fine for them, she couldn't stay, but she couldn't leave either. Was this part of the Force? Obi-Wan said she had to learn to trust in it. The Force could be confusing, but there had to a be a reason behind it, right? Rey was contemplating that idea, letting it circle around in her head as she left the Communal Hall. If she was meant to be here, then maybe it was time for her to start looking for work?

She went into the city, her eyes flickering down to her phone every now and then. There were times when she was searching through it and the posts on the network, looking for answers..none came. If she was going to find work...what would she do? Jim had suggested she join the Perimeter Guard, but could she? She didn't exactly trust how things were being run here...but what other choice did she have?

Rey wasn't paying too much attention to where she was going until she stopped realizing she was at the park. She took a seat on a park bench and mentally ran through her options and what she would need to do to live in this new place.

"No. They're called Pokemon and they came through from another world with one of the people that came through the portal. They're all outside in the forest. I found Skinfaxi first." He pointed to the Ponyta. Really, who wouldn't want a horse on fire? It was just the coolest thing, especially for a sixteen year old Viking.

"Then Hrimfaxi came next. Sprig belonged to my girlfriend--" There was a brief moment where his throat tightened up and a flicker of pain crossed his face. "--but she left, so I got landed with him too." Three Pokemon plus a new baby meant Ivar had his hands full giving them all equal attention.

"I'm not." He says the words very coldly and harshly, but it sounds more like he's trying to convince himself more than Rey. It's barely been a month, so Ivar's still feeling the pain that came with Letha's decision to leave him and their daughter Winter behind.

Ivar shrugs. He'd never thought about it that way. When he saw there was a helpless creature who needed looking after, he hadn't even thought twice about taking on another burden. "I like most animals more than I do people. They don't judge you like people always do." He's never had his Pokemon look on him with pity, wondering why he's not like other men. No, they just love him as he is.
ragnarsson: ([18.8] You've got a better idea)

"Exactly. My horses are loyal to me, so I am kind to them in turn." Skinfaxi has finished grazing and wanders over to his master, butting him lightly with his muzzle so that Ivar will pet him. He reaches up, running his hand behind the fire Pokemon's ears and down his neck, his hand completely unaffected by the flames that made up his mane.

"Just a little over six months now. Feels like it's gone very fast and hardly at all at the same time." When he'd first arrived, Ivar had been a teenager with a major attitude and anger issues, mad at the world, and ready to burn it down because of that. Over the course of six months, while his anger hadn't disappeared, it had begun to lessen, due to the presence of friends and parental figures. The birth of his daughter had brought out a whole new side to the Viking, one full of love that he thought he'd never possess.

"I would hope so. They saved my life." He didn't elaborate on what seemed like the start to an interesting story, merely continuing to pet his Ponyta in slow strokes. He pulled out a small bag of sugar cubes, feeding one to Skinfaxi. The Ponyta picked up the cube delicately from his palm.

"One week? I hope you had a better adjustment period than I did." At least Rey would be used to things like the electric light. Ivar had come from a very far back time of Earth's history, so he'd truly been a temporal fish out of water.

Noticing that Skinfaxi was getting something that he wasn't, Sprig sat up, nudging Rey insistently. "Phan, Phantump!" He said. It was clear the little glutton wanted some sugar cubes too.

Ivar smiled. "I think he wants you to give it to him. Do you mind?" He held out the bag to Rey.
ragnarsson: ([18.7] Well that's just great)

"If you knew what a phone and running water that came in through pipes were before you came here, then you were doing better than me. I seem to have come from pretty far back." But he'd adjusted as well as he could. Even after six months, there was some things he still didn't understand, and might never get. At least he had the important things down.

"Just one. I've no idea if a haunted tree stump can get fat, but I'd prefer not to test the theory out." Sprig grabbed a hold of it with his wispy little hands and munched on it happily, his light blue eyes wrinkling up in happiness.

"No running water, no electricity, no vehicles that didn't move without animals pulling them. Most people here seem to have come from after the year 2000 or thereabouts. I came from 816." He hadn't been exaggerating when he said he came from a ways back.

"As long as you have food and shelter, you're doing alright." It was the little things in life that one had to be thankful for.

He glances at Sprig, who licks around the edges of his mouth with quite a large tongue in comparison with the rest of his face, getting any small traces of the sugar cube he might have missed. "Now there's an idea. It's said they can evolve into different forms, but I don't know what Phantumps turn into. I'll have to ask the Pokemon Professor." He really needed to go to more of Professor Sycamore's classes so that he could properly care for his creatures.

"It's been interesting, learning about what other people have in their worlds that I lacked in mind." Which was pretty much everything when he got down to it. Vikings had only primitive technology and hadn't even discovered all of the known world in Ivar's time. Since coming here, it had been shocking to realize what kind of ignorance he'd been living in.

Getting back to the topic of the Pokemon, he tapped Skinfaxi on his muzzle. "They do grow in size. Skinfaxi here was only a little foal this big--" He shows off the size with his hand, barely at his head height sitting down as he is in the wheelchair. "--when I first got him. They grow, but apparently, they can also evolve, changing shape, and becoming more powerful."
