[OTA] A New World
Who: Draco Malfoyhp & OTA
What: Adjusting to the new Norm.
When: August 24th, evening. (Slgihtly Backdated)
Where: around the city.
Warnings: To be added as needed.
Draco's head swam with the new information. The welcoming, the video, the explanations. All of it. It boggled the mind. Stretched his ability to comprehend and adjust to its limit, threatening to break it. He had been given a room assignment and a job offer. He had hoped to retreat into solitude in order to collect himself... only to find he was sharing a flat with another. He'd stashed the broom he'd been riding when he'd come through the portal and what little things he'd been carrying and given.
Option A
Stepping outside of the communal housing Draco paused as he looked around, then down to the device resting in his hand. He'd been given some instruction on it, aide with setting up this Friendr... thing. But it was still largely a strange mystery. He didn't understand how it worked, and that was probably what bothered him the most. Sighing he shoved it into his pocket and looked around. Where to first?
Option B
Moving away from the communal building Draco just wandered. Letting his feet take him where they may. Turning when something struck his fancy. If he came upon an establishment that seemed open to the public than he stepped inside and peeked in. Looking at goods and services offered to try and see if they might offer things he'd need in the future.
[This option you can catch him wandering around or catch him inside one of the open to public businesses in town.]
Option C
After doing some wandering around the town Draco eventually stopped for a rest as the evening wore on. Finding a bench he stopped and took a seat. The walking had helped in some ways, but in others, it left him with more questions than answers. Still uncomfortable in this strange setting. Still very much on guard and watching his words so very carefully. It made him weary and he longed for solitude... yet he did not know if he would find it in his new residence being as he shared it with another.

No, the Tevinter Altus made no assumptions of knowing everyone else who'd stepped from the portal, but he'd been here long enough by now to know one who'd done so recently. His path crossed Draco's as they wandered past a boutique advertising a new line of women's clothing. He plastered on his best friendly smile of greeting and inclined his head in the young man's direction.
"Begging your pardon, but this all," he illustrated what he spoke of by giving a wave of his hand around, "seems new to you. Have you, by chance, recently arrived?"
He hadn't had much occasion to help newcomers. It was almost exciting. That and the air of subtle meloncholy that seemed to gather about this lad was intriguing.

Then his attention was grabbed by a gentleman who was well spoken. That was always a nice quality. Being from the magical world Draco was also used to rather interesting fashion choices, including the handlebar mustache. Regardless Draco found this little bit of the man catching his attention. It was a bit distracting and Draco had to give his head a mental shake.
"I suppose it must be obvious. Yes, I am." Draco then offered his hand for shaking. "I am Draco Malfoy."

He chuckled at Draco's response, waving a hand as though to dismiss the boy's concern. "Only marginally, and I have a good eye." Dorian took his offered hand. "A pleasure, Draco Malfoy." And he inclined his head in greeting as he returned the shake. "Dorian Pavus. A pleasure."
no subject
"Likewise, Mr. Pavus." Draco responded with automatically, wondering at the double assurance that this meeting was a pleasure. Curious. "I am just out to look around and familiarize myself with the area."
no subject
He chuckles as though he's jesting. Whether or not that's true is yet to be seen. Either way, he's not planning on saying anything else on the subject.
"And what is it you've found thus far?'
no subject
"Dorian, then." Draco said with a slight upturn to his lips appearing. "I have found some businesses and a lot of potential for the city. As well as a lot of things I do not necesarily understand, but I am sure that will come with time."
A lot of muggle things. Things he struggled with in his mind to set aside preconcieved notions so he could potentially see what uses there was to have for them in the future.

There was one particular invention that had caught his attention quickly as he’d explored his communal quarters; a box that was cooled within to preserve foods for a longer amount of time. He’d quickly found himself envious he hadn’t thought of something similar himself.
“What sort of world is it you come from, then, Draco? There is far much more technological advancement here than on Thedas, though,” he taps his foot on the cement walkway beneath them, “we in the Tenvinter Imperium have also devised concrete. I’ve heard some worlds haven’t.” He chuckled. “A shame, really, but there are barbarians everywhere, aren’t there?”

"I am keeping my mind open to the new contraptions I am being introduced to." He eventually said, feeling the words did exactly as he had hoped. Keeping him sounding neutral.
"I come from a world that is, well, magical. Though those of us with magic keep ourselves separate from those without. A safety measure we implemented when those with magic became hunted. I think perhaps the muggles, nonmagical people, may have had similar things? However, I do not know enough to say for certain." Draco then went on to say something that, after saying it, surprised even himself.
"I think that it is less that they are barbarians and more that their priorities are different. I'm learning that the cultures and histories of each world are vastly different and it makes sense they require different priorities from their people."

"Mages in your world believe those born without magic are barbarians?" He chuckled at the thought. Why, all of Tevinter looked down upon the southern lands in the same light, but it occurred to him, the Altus and even the Laetans, those in Tevinter with magic, looked down on all those without it as inferior.
"I...suppose we have something in common. Many people, mages, in my homeland feel the same way about those without magic. Over the centuries, we've even given them false hope: one day you too could join the ruling class, provided someone in your family is born with magic." He scoffed, shaking his head. "Tragic, isn't it?"
no subject
"It is... complicated. There are many stances within the populace. Some, yes, find those without magic to be lesser. Some think we have much to learn from them. I wouldn't go so far as to say barbaric though." Draco then frowned and looked askance. "Let us just say that form of thinking is more progressive than the purism of my world. Unless you are of pure magical blood you are considered less. No mixing of the blood, no coming from non-magical stock. Blood purism." Though Draco is giving facts about his own home culture there is a note of disapproval to his words as he tells of the purist ideals. Ideals he no longer held.

He followed only well enough with the breeding, though. Dorian himself was the product of careful breeding, designed to ensure the next generation was powerful, noble, perfect in every way. He happened to be a bit of a disappointment. "Ah, yes. There are distinct classes in my own homeland. I come from the Altus, families of mages capable of tracing our pure bloodlines back to the original Dreamers, thousands of years ago. Then there are the Laetans, those of, well, 'impure' stock who happened to have been born with magic. Everyone else is Soporati. The common man."
