Huh. I stand corrected, then. Color me surprised.

[ Not that Jim can really be that surprised, considering he's literally just met Taako. No doubt there's a lot about him that Jim doesn't know yet, and a lot that would likely surprise him more than that. ]

For what it's worth, I'd have avoided myself back then, too. Wasn't very good company. I like to think I'm a little more tolerable these days.

Dudes who go around picking fights are kinda dicks, anyway. [Which he says so casually and either without realizing or caring that he's calling past Jim a dick.] It's an ego thing, right? Or you got shit to prove or whatever, it's fucking boring.

[ Jim only huffs a chuckle at that, because... well, it is true. Jim was a dick, and he'd be the first to admit it, albeit not at all proudly. ]

Mm, a bit of both. More of the latter than the former, in my case. [ And sometimes he just liked walking around with a bruise on his face like a badge of honor, but guess that played a little into the whole ego thing, in a way. ] Not really sorry I left that part of me behind, to be honest. I was a complete jerk. [ Now he's only sometimes a jerk. Rarely. ]

Oh I know how that goes. Not the personal growth or whatever, I've always been rad as hell, but I definitely feel you on having zero flaws.

Now there's something I can get behind, it's been way too long since I've had adoring fans.

Not all it's chalked up to be. [ Jim shrugs a little, not really sure if Taako means that or not, but answering truthfully anyway. ]

I think I liked the attention more when I was younger. Gets tiring, even if it can be useful sometimes.

Uh, free shit? People being nice to you cause they think you're cool? I've yet to find a downside.

[He knows how quickly it can turn sour, but he still wants it back. His show was a bright spot in an otherwise pretty lonely and kinda shitty life.]

[ Jim could probably make a list of reasons, but he's got a feeling Taako just sees things differently from him. ]

Guess it works better for you than it does for me. Either way, I don't need people giving me 'free' things, as we don't have a currency where I come from. And I'd rather people treat me with honesty for knowing who I am, than being nice for what they think I'm like.
