a stranger's bed

As a lead in to September, Riverview's ♥ Month of Romance, this is a completely optional mingle that will cause affected characters to end up in each other's beds. There are various options for both established and new CR. While it's easiest for characters still living in Communal Housing, anyone who has moved to their own homes can be affected and end up finding their way to Communal Housing, or within their own housing.

Residents of the Quarantine may notice that various businesses selling food and drink - cafés, diners, bakeries, restaurants, and other such establishments - are heavily advertising a new flavor that's supposed to be the biggest thing since pumpkin spice. A flavor additive that's said to subtly change the flavor of whatever the diner is eating or drinking to optimize the dish, drink, dessert, or any other food item it is added to for each person's individual taste, it's been selling like wildfire and is the latest trend.

After the cause of the rash of amnesia was revealed to be plant-related, sellers are keeping the origin of the secret ingredient very close to their chests, since it is a derivative of a recently-discovered plant dubbed chameleonis. Depending on the method of ingestion, this additive can have a variety of unexpected side effects, but only once the person who has ingested it becomes sleepy. Methods of ingestion include:

● Ingestion: Beverage: When ingested as a flavor shot to drinks ranging from sodas to coffee to alcoholic beverages, it can cause a desire for closeness to a particular other person. Affected characters end up crawling into bed with that specific other character when they become sleepy.

● Ingestion: Food: When ingested as a flavoring added to a baked good or other meal, it can cause an intense desire for body heat when the character becomes drowsy. It won't matter to an affected character who is providing the body heat, so long as it's someone, and they will end up sleepily crawling into someone else's bed for warmth.

● Inhalation: When inhaled ether from a steaming hot beverage or soup, or as an essential oil or aroma from a bakery, it can cause disorientation when a character becomes sleepy. Affected characters either aren't sure which bed is theirs and simply crawl into the closest one, occupied or not, or become convinced that another character's bed is their own.

Feel free to post up a top-level for your own character either affected and invading a random bed or unaffected but open to having their bed invaded by affected characters, or tag around to other people's top-levels.

[ Obi-Wan remains unflappable, folding his legs neatly. This man . . . or boy, Obi-Wan amends, seems to be trying to move on. In many ways, he seems much younger than Anakin ever was. But Anakin grew up fast, despite his childish moods that came and went. But nothing in the Force signaled danger and Obi-Wan tends to trust that over another's words. ]

Why would I? That seems like an extreme reaction to someone commandeering space on my bed. If you were a threat, I would have dispatched you. But you were not. Why discuss a possibility that does not exist?

Draco then groaned dramatically. "MErlin save me, you are a Hufflepuff." Draco said, sounding long suffering.

"Because it makes no sense to just let me sleep in your bed. Merlin's whiskers, I was sleeping half on you! Are all of you Jedi such.... doormats?"

[ There is no edge to Obi-Wan. He is no blade. The Force moves through him and he is one with the Light. He is not easily moved by anger or rage. He is far from enlightened but he is still a Jedi Master. ]

If kindness makes one a doormat, then I'm more than happy to be one. And I imagine you can benefit from a little kindness instead of chastising it.

Obi-Wan Kenobi was a very frustrating man to Draco. He just couldn't understand why he was able to so easily just endure something as ridiculous as having someone sleep on him. To just accept it. Then speak of it as a kindness. It rankled his pride to hear and he grit his teeth.

"You... are aggravating, Kenobi." Draco then looked around seeing other bed and groaned. Others had seen him in Kenobi's bed likely. Great. "I... just can't deal with you right now." Draco pinched the bridge of his nose.

"I need to get out of here unseen. If I'm going to take the position of Community Ambassador, this... Well, it is unseemly I was sleeping in anothers bed like this."

[ Obi-Wan shrugs. Aggravating is putting it mildly and it is hardly going to bother Obi-Wan. ]

Community Ambassador?

[ Draco is the last person Obi-Wan would expect in that position, especially since it seems Draco is battling old habits. ]

"Yes, it was the position they suggested for me. One I feel... comfortable in perform the duties it details." Draco says carefully. It also was a direction different than his father had taken and... Well, he kept thinking of this as being a chance to be different. to be someone different. Taking a position his father never would and developing a stance at odds with what his father had stood for? Well, Draco could think of no other way to be his own person.

Plus, there wasn't a lot of positions around he could perform well in. This would do. "I come from a political background of a kind, I know the ins and outs and how to behave in suc situations. I have also seen just how deep corruption can go, and everything that is... less than ideal in leaders." He gave shrug of his shoulders.

Plus, keeping busy would help distract him.

[ Obi-Wan raises a cool eyebrow at that. He doesn't doubt the background but Draco seems very young for an ambassador. The only person he knew that was younger and could perform that job with aplomb was Padme. And while Obi-Wan does not care for politicians, his respect for her has never waned since Naboo.

But then again, this is a small place. Hardly one for galactic conflicts like the kind Obi-Wan is used to. He doubts there will be crime lords and corruption scandals breaking out any time. ]

I'm sure it is a valued position.

Draco was raised reading his father's ever changeable moods. Of always looking for those facial ticks that spoke of a truth not usually shown. So that raise of a brow, while a small gesture to some, stood out to Draco. He bristled on the inside.

Outwardly he stood a bit straighter. Retrieving his wand and damning the unknown potential for consequences, he cast a spell to right his appearance. Thankful it went off without a hitch. "It is, and I will do it well. I am sorry to have inconvenienced you."

Draco then turned to leave, feeling a foul mood start to descend, which he tried to lock away.
