a stranger's bed

As a lead in to September, Riverview's ♥ Month of Romance, this is a completely optional mingle that will cause affected characters to end up in each other's beds. There are various options for both established and new CR. While it's easiest for characters still living in Communal Housing, anyone who has moved to their own homes can be affected and end up finding their way to Communal Housing, or within their own housing.

Residents of the Quarantine may notice that various businesses selling food and drink - cafés, diners, bakeries, restaurants, and other such establishments - are heavily advertising a new flavor that's supposed to be the biggest thing since pumpkin spice. A flavor additive that's said to subtly change the flavor of whatever the diner is eating or drinking to optimize the dish, drink, dessert, or any other food item it is added to for each person's individual taste, it's been selling like wildfire and is the latest trend.

After the cause of the rash of amnesia was revealed to be plant-related, sellers are keeping the origin of the secret ingredient very close to their chests, since it is a derivative of a recently-discovered plant dubbed chameleonis. Depending on the method of ingestion, this additive can have a variety of unexpected side effects, but only once the person who has ingested it becomes sleepy. Methods of ingestion include:

● Ingestion: Beverage: When ingested as a flavor shot to drinks ranging from sodas to coffee to alcoholic beverages, it can cause a desire for closeness to a particular other person. Affected characters end up crawling into bed with that specific other character when they become sleepy.

● Ingestion: Food: When ingested as a flavoring added to a baked good or other meal, it can cause an intense desire for body heat when the character becomes drowsy. It won't matter to an affected character who is providing the body heat, so long as it's someone, and they will end up sleepily crawling into someone else's bed for warmth.

● Inhalation: When inhaled ether from a steaming hot beverage or soup, or as an essential oil or aroma from a bakery, it can cause disorientation when a character becomes sleepy. Affected characters either aren't sure which bed is theirs and simply crawl into the closest one, occupied or not, or become convinced that another character's bed is their own.

Feel free to post up a top-level for your own character either affected and invading a random bed or unaffected but open to having their bed invaded by affected characters, or tag around to other people's top-levels.

Draco slowly rises into a seated position, not wanting to move suddenly and end up pinned again. Seeing the twirling knife Draco looks to it, and then up to the man with a raised eyebrow.

"Mind with the knife? I had a... aunt with a fondness for them. Not exactly someone I think you would want to be associated with." No one would want him mentally associating them with Bellatrix Lestrange. He also did not want to remember listening to Hermione Granger's screams either.

Draco then moved to stand up from the bed, still moving carefully as he reached for his wand. "No. Not, at least... I don't think it was specific to you. Almost like..." Draco paused, his mind working through how such an unusual urge could have transpired.

"I was dosed with a potion..." Well, now that pissed him off.

[ There's a brief glimmer of wry amusement. With a flick of his wrist, the knife disappears. A potion. Come to think of it, there have been people acting strangely but in Riverview, that seems to occur frequently and Loki has ceased to pay it mind. He's not interested in being dragged into other people's orbits and issues. ]

You should be more careful then. This is not a safe place for you to be.

Wand in hand, Draco turned and crossed his arms, grip on his wand light for now. He narrowed his eyes a bit at the man before him, not liking to be told such a thing. Draco was well aware he'd been quite the idiot in letting himself be dosed with a foreign potion.

"No need to concern yourself with my well being. This was obviously a mistake that will not be repeated." Draco paused for a moment before adding. "I am sorry to have disturbed your rest... Though perhaps having been woken wasn't such a bad thing for you," The man had screamed, after all. Draco then pocketed his wand intending to leave lest this conversation got any worse.

[ Loki's gaze narrows, the wildness appearing once more. He doesn't take too kindly to his weaknesses being exposed. And any kind of reveal is tantamount to a step to his destruction. He knew better than to trust the kindness of strangers. How could he, when the kindness of family and friend was worse than anything he has ever known? ]

My concern is not for you, but for the consequences that may arise from it.

Honestly, the comment had not been meant badly, as irked as Draco had been by the man's tone and words of before. Suffering from nightmares of his own, Draco himself much preferred being woken from them rather than allowing them to go to completion.

Consequences. Yes, Draco was familiar with such consequences. Everything had a consequence down tot he words you spoke and the expression on your face. The tone of voice used. Pausing, Draco looked back to the dark haired man.

"If my life has taught me anything, it is how to deal with the consequences of actions, be they my own or others. You really don't need to give me any warnings."

[ Loki chuckles, sharp and low. Sometimes he forgets that people do not recognize him, do not know. He may not cut an intimidating figure after call. He settles himself on a chair with a slouch, all sprawling power and sleekness. ]

I am sure your short life has done you wonders.

One platinum brow rose up as Draco turned to face the man fully again. Slipping his hand into place and crossing his arms. No, this man did not 'cut an intimidating figure'. But Draco recognized confidence and a surety of self, mixed with the arrogance of those of Draco's own social standing, if not even a touch more than usual.

"My short life has done enough. But I am here now and it will remain in the past."

[ His grin is mirthless and full of teeth. ]

That is what they all say.

[ This is merely a boy on the cusp of manhood. And Loki has little interest in young boys trying to find their new paths in life. He considers conjuring up his knife once more for show before deciding against it. With a flippant hand, Loki gestures to the door. ]

Shouldn't you be leaving?

A smirk appeared on Draco's lips as he turned back for the door. "If you want me gone so badly then shouldn't you stop talking?" After all, Draco had been about to leave when the man had spoken again.

[ Loki merely conjures up the knife once more in response. He likes having the last word in and he's petty enough to make a show of it. ]

Draco's lips pursed as the knife reappeared. It was easy to understand the reason it did. It wasn't a message hard to miss at all. So here was one interaction that did not go well, and Draco couldn't blame the guy, really. Draco had been the one to invade this man's bed and, well... He would fix things later if he felt the need.

"Right. Goodbye then." Draco sai as he stepped out and attempted to find hsi way to his actual bed.
