[For Undertaker]

Ciel was sleeping late, window open to let in air until it started cooling down for the year. And when he woke, it was...

with panic. He was in a strange bed rather than sleeping in a cold cage curled up in a ball like the other children, his clothes weren't filthy, his back didn't ache, and his eye- he couldn't see out of one eye. That's where most of his fear and panic came from, the rest was from the absence of his brother and the fact that he was somewhere strange.

He didn't bother looking around, instead climbing out of the bed as quickly as he could, throwing open the door of the apartment and running, calling out his brothers name and hoping for an answer.

[Shopping/wandering]

By now, Undertaker had told him the name he was to go by in Riverview, to keep his eye covered, and that he was Earl Phantomhive, not that is helped him at all. He hadn't exactly been groomed to be an earl and that only really did him favors in England.

Exploring should be alright, or he thought it should. He kept his phone with him- a weird phone and it looked absolutely nothing like the phones he'd ever seen. It was slim, almost like it was just a pane of glass, and he had no idea how it really worked. He needed it though. Apparently.

He did visit a couple shops for sweets, that hadn't changed, and a cafe. Those that knew him would probably notice there's a distinctively different air about him.

[River]

Ciel didn't have any swimwear but that didn't stop him from making his way to the beach. And it was okay for him, he wasn't the strongest swimmer. Instead, he was happy to just sit close to the water, slipping his bare feet into the river.

Not for long though. His health wasn't the best and soaking any part of him in cold water would probably invite illness and an asthma fit again.

When he did stop though, he found a quiet spot to skip rocks.

[ Jon didn't know Ciel had other people here. Maybe someone had arrived earlier? ]

He's...

[How does one describe Undertaker.]

He's a friend of my fathers. They work together. He's kind of family.

[supersweet]

Oh . . . Okay.

[ Still a weird name. And certainly worth looking into, later. Still Jon smiles reassuringly. ]

It's not a big deal. So, you wanna go? I've got some money on me.

[sweetlies]

[Whatever his name is, Ciel has only ever heard him called Undertaker. And it works.]

So long as you don't mind. I don't want to stop you from going somewhere.

[Ciel's smiles come a lot more easily now.]

[ Jon shrugs, lackadaisical. Honestly, he would welcome company of a younger nature. After all the adults had come with their well wishes, Jon was tired of being looked after. ]

It's fine. I wasn't going anywhere.

[sweetlies]

[His nature has definitely taken a turn for younger at this point. And, if Ciel had known, he probably would have given awkward apologies himself.]

I'm glad, it isn't very fun visiting new places alone.

It depends. Exploring can be fun too.

[ It's a pale shade from Jon's usual cheer, but he's trying. He doesn't want to worry all the people looking out for him. ]

[The most he'd ever explored, that he can remember, was the manor and the ground. And the manor that a part was held out when he was eight but he'd mostly stayed close to Vincent.]

It's not fun if you're lost though.

[supersweet]

Being lost can be fun too! Just not like on an . . . alien planet. Or a different dimension.

[ Jon: too knowledgeable. ]

Isn't that kind of what this is?

[This is not London. Or Earth. He knows that much at least.]

[ Jon rubs his chin sheepishly. ]

Ah, right. I forgot it would feel that way to you.

[sweetlies]

Wouldn't it feel that way to everyone here?

[Not everyone could be from here, right?]

Maybe, but you're from like . . . old England. So it's harder for you than other people. Probably.

[sweetlies]

[He almost objects.]

I... guess England is a bit behind compared to this place.

["A bit."]

[supersweet]

It's cool. No one's gonna make fun of you.

[ Jon may have his moments of surprise and shock, but he's hardly going to judge. It's just not his way. ]

[sweetlies]

[Oh.

He hadn't even thought about that, actually. No one has ever made fun of him before. Except sometimes his brother. That was fondly done though.]

I wasn't too worried about that.

[supersweet]

What were you worried about then?

[sweetlies]

There are people who don't like my family so... them.

[He'd really never had to worry about. And he's not used to being so social.]

[supersweet]

[ Jon frowns lightly. ]

Because you work for the Queen?

[sweetlies]

Father does. And the other Aristocrats, I suppose, like Diedrich.

[Him, the Watchdog? Oh wait...]

[supersweet]

[ That clinches some of his suspicions. Ciel wasn't lying but that heartbeat feels different. Younger, almost. Jon tries for a reassuring expression. ]

Yeah, it sounds like hard work either way. I guess your parents are overprotective. Mine can be too.

[sweetlies]

Everybody is. Auntie An, mother, father, Tanaka.

[Because of his asthma. And how dangerous it is in general.]

[supersweet]

[ Hmm. His parents were overprotective but with Jon's powers, it was also easier to let him out of their sight. ]

Sounds rough.

[sweetlies]

It's not so bad.

[He won't mention that he feels more like a burden.]

I know they love me.

[supersweet]

I'm not saying they don't. Doesn't make it any less tough for you.
