[ooc: Headers below for each 'stage' of the mission. This is going down mingle-style fast and loose. If you don't want threadjacks in a particular thread, just say so in your header, else it's all fair game. It might get chaotic, so if/when anything major happens I'll summarize up here.]

It worked better than Yuri could have hoped; far better than he'd expected. He laughed in disbelief as the second golem roared, stumbling forward and crashing into it's partner in a cloud of dust and splintered shale. Yuri twisted, throwing up his hands to shield his head as bits of gravel and rock rained down.
For a moment, it seemed almost as though the second golem would manage it's balance again against the first- but then the first buckled, it's knee slamming into the dirt as the second rolled to the side, glancing off the first with a roar as it fell into the dirt, cracking at it's seams. ]
Holy shit! [ Yuri exclaimed, laughing like he couldn't believe it had worked. Mostly because he couldn't.
The first was still on it's feet, though. And now it was really pissed off.
With a roar, it uprooted a nearby tree, and angrily swung it at where Yuri and Steve had been hiding. ] Shit--!

The second golem stumbled, and Yuri's exclamation of triumphant surprise got a grin out of Steve, who stood as the golem tumbled down and smashed into the ground with an ear-splitting stone-against-stone clatter. The roar is what got a reaction. As the tree came at them, Steve jumped forward, pulling Yuri toward him and raising his shield over them both so that the tree hit him rather than Yuri, and groaned as he shoved back against it. At least they weren't crushed beneath the weight, although Steve was definitely feeling it as the tree rolled off behind them.]
You okay?
[His breathing came in roughly, but he leaned back to check on Yuri and find Bucky again.]

But later. The second golem seems to be pretty well down, after the 'head' slid off it and crashed to the ground, sending flocks of agitated birds up out of the trees. Coughing through the dust, Bucky pushes forward to sprint at the first, still on its feet. A little bit of parkour gets him up the back of it, to perch on its shoulder.
Distracted, it tries to swat him off, and he blocks the heavy blows with the shield.] Get him back! [He shouts to Steve, then pulls the pin from a small grenade, shoving it into the gaping mouth-hole of the golem.]

Holy fuck. [ He breathed out, staring in shock, and a little awe- before shaking himself out of it, and nodding sharply. ] Yeah- I'm fine- [ But he doesn't get out much more than that, before James is shouting about getting him back, and Yuri isn't stupid, he knows James is specifically referring to him, and so Yuri does what he's been told, for once. He hadn't seen the grenade, but with the urgency in the other's tone, well. He wasn't about to fuck around. Jerking on quick feet to retreat to a safe distance, before whatever James has up his sleeve happens. ]
Well, what are you waiting for? Come on! [ Yuri demanded of Steve, grabbing the other's free wrist and jerking him away from the other golem, back into the treeline for a little more cover. ]

This is really what he lives for. In the end, the truth of the matter is that Steve Rogers is made for the fight because he thrives in it. The serum might have given him the means to survive it, but his heart has always been there. He turns and does better than follow. He jogs with Yuri away from the rock giants, shield raised to smash branches out of their way as he heads with him back to the trees with a light of excitement in his blue eyes. They don't quite get that far before the grenade goes off, and Steve uses his body to block the small chunks of rock being thrown at them, protecting Yuri with his back and the construct shield raised overhead like an umbrella.]
Bucky! You good?
[He calls out when the rumble fades and he can look for his friend again, but it's almost a formality. Steve trusts that Bucky is all right; that he planned for that.]
