july catch-all (open)!
who: Steve Rogers and You. (OTA).
what: July catch-all.
when: All throughout July!
where: All over the place.
warnings: Mentions of sadness and feeling displaced. Will edit this as needed.
A. THE GREAT OUTDOORS.
[ There were a lot of reasons Steve preferred to be outdoors than inside but one of the main ones happened to be because he breathed easier. He felt less closed in and trapped, something that always brought back too many fouler memories. So, he can often be found hiking around and exploring everything possible. He can also be found camping and maybe even cloud watching. The latter reminding him of the simpler times of his childhood.
Plenty of nostalgia. ]
B. NEVER BACK DOWN.
[ With the gym being practically a second home, Steve can be found there often enough. Punching and kicking at the sandbags, running on the treadmills and sparring with anyone who feels up to the task. Maybe even a few secret yoga classes. But hey flexibility is important and hot yoga is something else. ]
C. NETWORK.
[ Given his past few years in the more modern era Steve knew of technology but generally preferred to not really use it, unless it had to do with art. He loved the drawing tablets and how he could make things appear 3D with the printer thing Tony set up for him before things went quickly downhill.
Always such troubling thoughts. Pushing it aside, he grabbed for the current device in his possession and with only a slight look of distaste, he fired it up to connect with the network. He needed to make an introduction and not isolate himself as much as he did the last time he wound up in some unknown place. ]
Is this -- okay, yes, it appears on and working. Hey there, I'm Steve Rogers and -- new here. [ Not at all awkward in the least bit. ] If anyone needs help with anything, I'd be happy to lend a hand. I can lift really heavy things. [ Seriously? ]
I'm looking for a couple of running partners. I can warn that I run really early but I'm gladly spring for breakfast afterwards.
D. WILDCARD.
[ catch steve exploring around and feel free to throw whatever scenarios my way. if anyone wants to discuss or wants a starter, catch me at
snowflakecrowns.
a few possibilities - grocery shopping, watching films, early morning jogs, so not looking for danger, getting a drink. and so on. ]

There were seasons for certain things, after all.
Rolling his cart through the aisles, he paused when he noticed a similar lost look on someone's face by the produce. Without really thinking twice, he wheeled over there and grabbed for a bag of red apples. ]
Need any help? I couldn't help but notice you looked a little lost over here.

[Rather than question the sudden appearance of the stranger, Mantis immediately holds out to him the two items she had previously selected, one in each hand. There is a grocery basket resting in the crook of her elbow, and she is wearing her new long gloves that cover her fingers completely.
It is a lot easier to focus when she is not accidentally touching people all the time. It takes her a moment to realize she has to look up to meet his eye.]
There are so many choices and I do not know what tastes good.
no subject
This would be a banana. [ he pointed to the yellow fruit. ] They're so good cut up into cereal or in smoothies. You can eat them plain. [ but he preferred to have them in something else. ]
[ gesturing to the other fruit - ] This one is a kiwi. It's also good in smoothies and has more of a flavor you have to get used to.
Are you making a fruit salad?
no subject
She nods along, and tries to absorb the new information. She knows what cereal is, but smoothies are a new thing. So is fruit salad, but one thing at a time.]
I am only looking for food which does not require any cooking. [Cooking is not a thing she's ever had to do before, and she has been told doing it wrong can result in fire and potential serious injury of herself and others. That's a little concerning to her.] What is a smoothie?
no subject
If not, it severely limited what she would be able to make for herself. ]
A smoothie is when you mix fruits, vegetables and juices all together. Then you drink it. It's really good. [ Smoothies, milkshakes and slushies - oh my! ]
Do you know how to use a toaster or microwave?
no subject
I do not think so. I am not familiar with the many devices in the kitchen.
[She has stood back in the common areas of her floor a few times, watching others navigate and operate them with ease. Buttons and dials and the box of cold things. She thinks the box that beeps makes things hot, but beyond that she hasn't had a lot of luck putting the pieces together.]
no subject
Sadly, he still had a lot of trouble with the oven. ]
Not really! It's really easy. I can show you how to blend it all together. [ He paused for a moment. ] I can show you how to use the toaster and microwave. They're really easy and would open up more options for what you can eat. You can use the microwave for just about everything.
no subject
Oh...that is very nice of you. I would be grateful.
[Somewhat absently, Mantis places the two fruits she has chosen into her basket, and casts her gaze toward the rest of the options.] I do not know what else to choose, what is good for smoothies? Or the microwave?
[She is lucky to have run into someone who seems to have a handle on all of this.]

Sweeping his hand forward, he picked up some more fruit, explaining what they were and what flavors tasted the best together. He paused for the greatest length of time on apples since they were his favorite, along with grapes. ]
For the microwave, we need to go to the frozen food section. They've got all these options. You can have pretty great food without having to spend hours trying to cook it. [ Some of the frozen dinners were less than savory but they were still better than setting the kitchen on fire. ]
Do you eat meat?
no subject
When it is full, Mantis is ready to see what else the store has to offer. This is all very useful.]
I have eaten meat. It agrees with me. [As the waitress who served Mantis her first hamburger had put it. Something else he's said has drawn her attention.]
Are there foods which take hours to cook?
